Chapter One
"Hermione!"
Hermione Granger looked up from her book and rolled her eyes. Inturrupted. Her mother was calling. Again. Didn't she get it? Didn't she know why Hermione hadn't left her room for over 2 days?
Maybe you should just give in, said a little voice in Hermione's head. She considered this. She could stomp down her stairs, make the whole house shake, maybe knock some things over, then collapse in the chair that was waiting for her at the table; like it always was when Hermione's parents needed to talk to her.
No! Don't just give in! Show them how mad you are!, said a more fierce voice in her head.
Hermione scrunched up her nose, and finally decided to do what she would normally do-go downstairs calmly and talk to her parents. Maybe they would break down and pour out the fact that it's been killing them, not being able to see her, and that they are oh-so-sorry and they want to make it up to her by buying her a new book she wanted, Wanted: A Book Of Notorious Wizards. She'd been wanting it ever since Fred and George started their joke shop, just to see if any wizards got in trouble for selling items that can make they buyer vomit uncontrolably.
So, with that, Hermione slowly opened her door and took her time desending the stairs thaat led to her living room, which was next to the dining room, where she would find her parents sitting next to each other, with a chair across from them.
Hermione was surprised to see that her parents were waiting for her on the living room couch, leaving the most comfortable chair in the house for Hermione to sink herself into.
Hermione sat down and waited for her parents' speech.
"Hermione......" her dad started. He never finished though, because Mrs. Granger gave her husband a sideways glance, which had "Let me handle this" written all over it.
"Hermione, your father and I discovered a few nights ago that you are a very good writer," she started. Hermione looked down, embarassed. Her mother caught onto Hermione right away. "Well, I'm sorry I read your diary, but it was so amazing. I can't even believe you wrote it! It was just so...so-"
"What was so amazing about it? It's just a few entries about me sitting in the backyard!" Hermione yelled back at her mother. All of their eyes widened, so Hermione muttered, "Sorry," and let her mother continue.
"Your father and I can tell you enjoy writing through your words. You make sitting in our boring old backyard seem like you're sitting on a bench in the Secret Garden or something."
"So..." Hermione said quietly, shyly.
"So we've signed you up," her mother said, her voice going from dentist-lady serious to cool-mom excited, "For a writing camp!"
Her and her father exchanged excited looks and look over to Hermione's excited face. Of course Hermione was ecstatic, and she squealed and said a few "Oh gosh, thank you so much!"es, but there was something in the back of her head.
"But...what about Harry and Ron? I was supposed to see them this summer," she said sadly.
"I'm sure they'll understand, darling," said Hermione's father. "You love to read and write, and this is what this camp is all about!"
Hermione bit her lip and stayed worried for a moment, but then her mother handed her a brochure on the camp to look at. Hermione's spirits rose again.
They finally stopped talking at nine 'o clock, when Hermione rushed upstairs to write to Harry and Ron all about her new adventure, just waiting for her in the countryside of London.
Dear Harry,
I have great news! This summer, starting on July 1st, I'll be going to one of London's finest art camps! Well, actually, it's kind of a new camp, so not a lot of people will be going, but it'll still be really great! I know, it sounds kind of geeky, but it will be so much fun! It's just for people who like to read and write. You take classes on improving your skills, meet lots of new friends, and you can even enter some contests! There's also a great book club there, where you read books and discuss them and write reveiws...probably something you and Ron wouldn't be too excited about. The best part is, it's a muggle camp, so I'll get to see what teen, non-magic people write and read about. Before I went to Hogwarts, I was never really a big reader, so I've never read many muggle books. I'm even more excited than I am when I go to Hogwarts!
If you see the Weasleys (NOT including Percy), tell him I said hi, and sorry I won't get the chance to see you guys this summer.
Love,
Hermione
Chapter Two
Ron Weasley had been laying down, burried in the deep. long whisps of grass in the big feild near his house, just waiting around. He had been thinking of inviting Harry over for a long time, but for once in Ron's life, he wasn't so sure about inviting Harry.
Harry had just recently lost his godfather, Sirius Black. Ron was also crushed by this dreadful event, but not as bad as Harry must be.
Ron and Hermione had been in contact all summer, talking about Sirius. He died a very mysterious death; he had fallen through an odd veil in the Department of Mysteries in the Ministry of Magic. What made the death even more strange than it already was, Harry said that he could hear people talking through the veil.
Do you think we could still communicate with him? Ron had written in a letter to Hermione.
She wrote back almost immediately, knowing who Ron was talking about. It was a short answer, and one he didn't often hear from Hermione. I don't know.
Ron obsessed over this undying question. He dreamt about it. He often had this one same dream, where Harry, Hermione and him went back to the veil and yelled into it...and got an answer back. It would always be a deep, happy, loud voice. An alive vioce. It would always say "Harry? Ron? Hermione? Come down here! I miss you like crazy!" Then, Harry and Ron and Hermione would jump in the veil, and Ron would feel a rushing, excited sensation throughout his whole body. Then he'd wake up with a sick feeling in his stomach.
Something touched Ron deep inside whenever he had that dream.
Ron was just drifting off to sleep, when suddenly he heard a scream. This was NOT good...especially when Ron's family was part of a secret order, the Order of the Phoenix, where some of the most evil wizards in the world were after his family. Ron jolted up and sprinted to the house, where he saw something that horrified him.
A dark, hooded wizard was torturing his 15-year old sister, Ginny. Just as Ron arrived in the backyard, his father did too, where he immediately preformed the death curse on the hooded person. The man didn't even put up a fight. Ginny dropped from mid-air, where she had been tortured, and landed on the ground, unconcious. Ron knew there had to be a catch, but a few seconds went by and nothing happened. Usually, things in the wizarding world happen fast, and suddenly.
Mrs. Weasley rushed over to Ginny and cradled her head in her arms. George and Fred, Ron's older twin brothers, who had been sitting the Weasley's outdoor patio trying out their new wizard's chess set and witnessed the whole thing ran to Ginny too. George grabbed Ginny's wrist as Fred preformed some sort of spell.
"She's alive," said George.
"Okay everyone, you know the drill. Fred, George, send letters to your brothers. Molly, get Dumbledore," said Ron's dad, quickly and urgently. Then he turned to Ron. Ron's heart skipped a beat, excited to be given his first order of...The Order, "Ron, you write to Harry and warn him. Take Fred's new owl, he's fastest." Ron noded quickly and ran to the Weasley's own small Owlrey, where four owls were perched on top of magic indoor trees. Ron called them down and pulled one light brown, white, long, tall, and sharp-beaked barn owl from the bunch.
Ron was so excited to do his firs tdeed for The Order, his hand was shaking out of control.
Ron had to use special codes for some of his words, just in case the letters were found. He had to do a lot of proof-reading and earasing before he finally got it right.
Dear Harry,
This is my frist request from the You Know What. This big D.E came up and attacked my sister, G. Dad A.K.ed him on the spot. He wants me to make sure you're okay. Our headmaster should be writing to you soon with suggestions for you. We're leaving. I'm not sure where we're going, but we're taking our new Thing We Used In Our Second Year to get there! My brothers F and G bought it. A Cadilac Escalade! Pretty wild!
Write back soon and good luck,
R.W
P.S, this is F's new owl, Puck. My brother G got Puck's twin brother, isn't that ironic? His name's Oberon. My sister G picked them names. She's good at that, eh?
