Hermione brushed her brown hair gently and slowly. She was happy to have this hair. Once she tried to straighten it, but it looked horrendous, although many people complemented her on it. Monday was Hermione's favorite day of the week because it was back to regular classes, even though she still attended extra practice lessons on the weekends. It was bright and early; a perfect Monday and Hermione was right on schedule. The day could not be better than what she had already planned. Her schedule for reviewing for Exams was going so well, Hermione knew that she would be well prepared when she sat down to take them. She figured since she had worked so hard she would have enough time to go down to the Quidditch pitch to see Ron and Harry's Quidditch game this afternoon.
Harry and Ron, who were trying to finish their homework, greeted Hermione briefly before returned to scribbling down answers.
"You guys have really got to learn how to do homework right after classes, not right before them," Hermione suggested.
"That's a good idea Hermione, well try that next time," Ron said. "But how about this time you let us see your homework so we can see if we came up with the same answers as you."
"That would be cheating and you know that I don't approve of cheating!"
"It's only considered cheating if you get caught," Harry added. "This would be like doing a friend a favor."
Hermione gave in and let Harry see her homework. They were friends after all, and they do repay her by paying for a butterbeer when they go to Hogsmede
"Speaking of friends, how's the ferret?" Ron asked.
"Will you stop calling him a ferret, Ron?" Hermione pleaded. "Just because you still dislike Draco doesn't mean that I can't have a decent conversation with him."
"You may want to add ten thousand to that 'dislike'," Ron murmured.
"Oh, please, Ron," Hermione started. "It's not like I'm dating him. All we talk about is how our classes are, and a little bit of Quidditch."
"Sure, why don't you just give him our parchment of plays while you're at it!" Ron shouted.
"Guys don't start this now," Harry said trying to calm Ron down. Harry seemed to be calming Ron down a lot lately. Actually, it started when Hermione started talking to Draco.
"Have you ever heard what he has to say?" Hermione shouted back. "His father was killed along with every other Death Eater. Do you want to know why he was not killed too? Draco wasn't killed because he wasn't planning to become a Death Eater!"
"Is that what he told you?" Ron yelled. "How do you know he isn't lying? After all those times when we were younger and he really hurt you? Why do you trust him now?"
"Guys, quit it alright!" Harry yelled as he stepped in-between Hermione and Ron.
Hermione picked up her books, including the homework she let Ron and Harry copy.
"Where are you going?" Ron asked. "To go see Draco?"
Hermione stopped and turned around. Both Harry and Ron settled down a bit when they saw tears coming from her eyes. "No," she responded softly. "I am going to the library to study a bit before our first class. And another thing, Ron, don't go off on me every time that you get jealous because I am talking to Draco." Hermione turned around and walked out of the portrait hole.
Ron and Harry did not say anything for quite sometime.

Hermione set her books down on the table and buried herself in "Magic for the Advanced Seventh Year."
"Hey," said a voice. She felt a hand on her shoulder, and looked up. It was Draco. He noticed the tears coming from her eyes. "What's wrong?" he asked her.
"Nothing," Hermione lied.
"Look at me, Hermione. When I talked to you about my dad, even when I did not want to, it made me feel a lot better. You can talk to me Hermione."
"You wouldn't understand."
"Hermione," Draco said as he sat down next to her. "When I saw my father dying, I didn't even think I had a reason to live. Seeing him in pain, I did not think anybody else would have known what I went through. I know that you still do not understand, or know, but telling you made me so much better. And even though you may have been lying when you said 'I understand' it still made me feel good to hear those words."
"Alright, I'll tell you. Ron has become so jealous that he lashes out at me, he's jealous of me talking with you. We are such close friends that I don't want to hurt him, but I still want to talk to you, because like every witch and wizard, I have the right to talk to anyone who I want to."
"Trust me when I say that I really do know what you are going through. Me and Pansy,"
"Pansy and I," Hermione interrupted.
"Right. We were really good friends when we were younger. Then I started to date her. Then we broke it off. Now when ever I talk to any other girl, especially you because you are a Gryffindor, she gets so angry with me."
"We will have to add that as a plus in the things we have in common," Hermione joked. She no longer looked like she was crying. "I supposed that we should be getting to our first class. By the way, Draco, what were you doing in the library this early?"
"Well, I took your advice, and was trying to study as much as I possibly could before my test." They both smiled and walked to their first classes.

"Potter zooms down toward the ground," shouted Jordan Lee into his voice magnifier. "Did he see the snitch or is he playing mind games with Ravenclaw's seeker? Wait...Folks, Potter has the Snitch! It is all over! Gryffindor has won 200 to 40!"
As each house started to walk back to the school, Hermione met up with Draco. She used to talk with Harry and Ron, but now that Harry is Captain, he wants to have the team stay on the field for a little while longer to go over plays.
"Hey, Hermione," Draco said with a warm smile. "What are you up to?"
"Oh, not much," she responded.
"Do you have any plans for the uh, end of the year dance?"
Hermione stopped and looked at Draco surprised.
"I just wanted to know if you would go to the dance with me?"
"I...I...I...," Hermione stuttered.
"I know that you didn't expect me to ask you that but I just, I don't know, I feel special when with you, and I want to make my last dance at Hogwarts special. However, if someone else already asked you, then I understand.
"No, Draco, nobody else asked me. So, um, yes, I will go with you to the dance," Hermione answered hesitantly.
"I promise you that I will behave myself and act strictly like a gentleman." Both Draco and Hermione started to giggle.

"Hey Hermione," Harry said running to catch up with her.
"Oh, hi," Hermione said back with a smile.
"What did you think about the Quidditch match today?"
"I thought it was very good. For a minute there I thought that you were defiantly trying to fake out the Ravenclaw's seeker."
"Hermione, I've always thought of you as a very good friend."
"I've thought the same."
"Well, since were good friends... I wanted to know if you would go to the dance with me?"
"Well, sure Harry," Hermione said slowly. She was afraid to say no because she did not want to hurt his feelings.
"Alright then, I'll see you later in the common room."
"Sure Harry, see you later."

Hermione plopped down on the couch, confused about what she was going to tell Harry or Draco. Then Ron came and sat next to her.
"Listen, Hermione, I want to apologize about what I said earlier today," he started off. "I didn't have any intention of hurting your feelings, I hope you will forgive me?
"It's all right, Ron," Hermione stated.
"I really am sorry. And, I have a question to ask you. Would you like to go to the dance with me?"
