- I'm hoping that this will take a bit of HBP weight off of your shoulders. Curse R/HR! Whoops! Let it slip...sorrrry! This chapter brings back the arguments between Ron and Hermione - you know, the ones JKR suddenly took away! Thanks to the ones that review!
"RON YOU ARE THE MOST INSFFERABLE PERSON I KNOW!" Harry heard Hermione scream. Their fights were even worse when Ron and Hermione had become a couple. The thought still made Harry's blood boil. He stood underneath his invisibility cloak outside of the Head Girl's room. Now he could hear Hermione start to cry, which was following her nightly schedule. Every night Ron and Hermione would have a huge fight in her room. It would always form tears in Hermione's eyes, and Harry wondered how Hermione stayed sane! He hated Ron for causing his Hermione so much pain. She did nothing to deserve it. Still, Harry carried on being Ron's best mate, not wanting to cause too much trouble.
He felt a whoosh of air jet past him, and he realized it was the effect of Hermione's school robes rushing past him. All Harry wanted to do was to be by her side. She needed him, damn it! Ron soon followed, mumbling the whole way down the stairs.
"Just stop it, woman! You're being a stubborn b*tch again!" Ron screamed after her. This was it, Harry thought. And it was.
"It's OVER Ronald Weasley! I've had enough of you and your crap!" she said through all the sniffs and tears. Ron had definitely not expected this.
" FINE! Well...why are you still here!? Don't you have to run off and tell Prince- Bloody-Harry the good news!?"
" Ron, you're a grain of salt in the ocean compared to HARRY, so just SHUT UP for once in your life! I've got some good news to spread!" And with that, she stormed out of her headquarters, leaving both Ron and Harry dumbstruck. Harry ran out just in time to dodge Ron's fist from pounding the wall.
Harry ran down the corridors as fast as he could to find Hermione. He finally found her in, of course, the library. She was sitting in the darkest corner using a copy of Spells That Say you're Smart to hide her crying eyes. Harry was by her side in a flash, and he gently gathered her up in his arms, rubbing her back in slow circles. " Hermione, love, what happened? Why are you so upset?" he asked, even though he knew the answer.
" Oh, Harry! It*sniff*was awful! Ron...he*sniff*he cursed at me...and, and we argued like we always do, I guess!" She sobbed a bit more before calming down.
" Hermione. He's just being an arse like always -"
" Yes, but I ended things. It's...over with us. I'm rather relieved, actually. He was so jealous of you, Harry. It drove me insane. I care about both of you, but he just can't see it like I do. But you can! You're not hateful with me at all. And, well... thanks, Harry. Thank you ever so much!" With that said, she made to kiss him on the cheek; however, Harry purposely maneuvered so that she ended up kissing his lips instead. Hermione's eyes widened, but she only deepened the kiss. They broke away minutes later, both breathless.
" No. Thank you," Harry smirked. Hermione placed her hand on Harry's cheek. Her hands were soft, and her touch was gentle.
" Harry, I didn't really end things with Ron because he gave me a hard time. It's because...well because I care about you. Love you, in fact." She turned her head sharply, embarrassed. Harry turned her face back around to give her a chaste kiss.
" You too, Hermione. I love you too, for the longest time." She threw her arms around him, and for a long while they just sat in the dark corner of a library savoring the feeling of newfound love.
