Please don't go crazy when I tell you the truth.
No, you don't know what happened and you never will if -
" 'Mione, please! Just listen to me! It wasn't what -" Harry Potter tried to explain to a wild animal-looking Hermione Granger.
" What it looked like, I KNOW! Gosh Harry, I...I can't believe I thought we were...showing signs of like..." she stuttered with great difficulty. Harry had broken her poor heart. Hermione actually thought - no she was sure - that Harry had shown signs of wanting to be more than friends with her. And she was definitely willing to accept it.
You don't listen to me while I talk to the wall.
This blanket is freezing, it's been out in the hall where -
" We were what, Hermione!? I'm not a bloody mind reader, you know! Why do you women have to be such a brainteaser???" This caused tears to spill from Hermione's eyes, slowly leaving trails of wetness down her soft-looking cheeks. She lowered her head onto the top of the chair, facing away from Harry, who was sitting opposite of her on the couch. For a while neither of the two spoke. Harry's stomach felt like a washing machine; all of his emotions were going around and around, and there was one particular one that he couldn't identify. " I... I really am sorry. I just wish you'd give me time to explain what happened." She nodded as she remembered the awful sight of Harry being in someone else's arms.
You've had me for hours, 'til I'm sure what I want,
But darling I want the same thing that I wanted before.
So, sweetheart, tell me what's up.
I won't stop. No way.
Flashback
Hermione had been struggling with some very heavy books, eight, in fact, and she was cradling a quill between her plump pink lips. She was rounding the corner, but stopped when she saw her secret enemy standing with her secret love, way too close in her opinion. If Hermione had been brave and all of her breath wasn't frozen, she would have marched right up to Harry and tell him to leave room for Jesus. But oh, no, they weren't just standing. They were wrapped up in a tight hug, Harry's arms around Cho Chang's slim one. Hermione looked down at her own waist, which wasn't at all bad, even though there was just a slight curve. She sucked in for effect.
" Er... no, Cho. You weren't bad at all." Harry was clearly embarrassed about his situation, but he looked as if a weight had been lifted from his shoulders.
" Come, now. I was horrible! Poor you...you didn't enjoy yourself at all, I'm sure! Anyway, you think about what I said and tell Hermione I'm awfully sorry," she smirked. The nerve of that witch, literally! Hermione didn't even want to know where they had been...she had a pretty good idea already! She couldn't believe Harry, HER Harry, had been with Cho, and really been! The tears were already spilling down her face, and she soon dropped all eight of her books and slid down the castle wall. This had made Harry turn to the noise only to find his best friend crying her eyes out. Now it was Hermione's turn to be embarrassed. She fled immediately with Harry calling her name all the way up to the common room.
End Flashback
" You see, she wasn't telling me she was bad at...well...er, you know. It was all about us in fifth year, do you remember? We went to that dumb café' and she cried her eyes out! I'd never lie to you 'Mione." He walked to face her and held her head between his hands. " I just didn't want to end on a bad note, you know? I don't like holding grudges, like Ron, you know? She just apologized to me, and to you, about the whole thing. Trust me, we aren't romantically involved," he chuckled, " and actually, I'm rather interested in someone else these days." Her heart soared with hope. Could it really be whom she thought? Wished?
" Who...is it, I mean," she whispered, barely audible.
" Oh," he brushed off, with a blush, too, "everybody knows that." She could have sworn there was a smirk on his face as he climbed the stairs. " But, are we okay? I really hope so..." Harry trailed off. She nodded, then ran up to embrace him a very Hermione-like hug.
" I'm so sorry, Harry! You were just being the gentleman I...that you are!" Harry caught her mistake.
" That you what...'Mione?"
There's something 'bout the way your lips invite.
Or maybe it's the way that I get nervous when you're around.
And the reasons they may change,
But my feelings will always remain the same...
There was no use in hiding it now. He had caught her red-handed. She was foolish really. She should have kept her mouth shut! " The gentleman I...love" She said the last word underneath her breath, and Harry had to stifle a laugh.
" What was that?" he asked, and Hermione scowled.
" I love you Harry Potter!" she yelled at the top of her lungs, which felt quite nice actually, even if it was 12:05 A.M., and the whole school might hear her. She didn't have time to think about it though, because Harry pressed his mouth to hers in a searing kiss. Maybe she shouldn't keep her mouth shut after all, for two reasons now.
