Expect the Unexpected- Chapter 3
Things were definitely not working out. It was only 3 weeks into term and Trista was already wishing she were back on a plane to New York.
Almost every girl in Slytherin and most of Ravenclaw hated her because of her friendship with Draco, and every other boy wouldn't dare go near her out of fear of what Draco might to do to him. She was stuck in his shadow, and she knew she had to do something about it.
It wasn't until she became known as 'Sternmore the Slytherin Slag' that she realized her Slytherin Cunningness had totally backfired.
Draco on the other hand was anything but pleased at his friends' newfound reputation. He entered the common room one night and found her sitting on one of the big leather couches reading, she looked so content but he didn't care at the moment, he wanted answers and he was going to get them.
"Trista!" he barked, "I need to speak with you alone"
Marking her place she slowly stood from her seat and followed Draco to his dorm room. Once inside he closed the door and turned to give her the iciest glare he could muster, in turn she folded her arms across her chest uncomfortably and looked anywhere but his face.
"What's on your mind Draco?" she asked guiltily.
"You know damn well what's on my mind," he said through clenched teeth. "There has been a lot of rumors circulating lately Trista...would you care to explain?"
"I don't know what you're talking about," she said simply.
"Dammit Trista don't play bloody dumb with me! What's all this I'm hearing about you and Terry Boot and you and Blaise Zabini and Dean Thomas for Merlin's sake!"
"Draco Malfoy are you jealous?" she asked putting her arms down and looking at him for the first time.
"Don't flatter yourself Sternmore, jealous would be the last adjective I would chose to describe myself right now," He paused to run his hands through his hair. "Look here Trista if you're going to be associated with me, and people are going to know it, then you better damn well act more respectable then you are now, I've got a reputation to-"
"I don't bloody believe this, all you care about is yourself! I figured it out weeks ago but I didn't want to believe it, I still wanted to believe you were the little boy I used to run around and play with all the time, but your not, your not at all," she said with tears welling up in her eyes. "Your just like him-"
"Don't change the bloody subject!" he shouted.
Draco's yells lingered in the air for a moment until a ringing silence filled the room; the quiet was too much for Trista. She had to get out of there, where she didn't know; she just knew she had to leave.
"Where the hell do you think your going?" Draco asked Trista's retreating form.
"Away from you, " she answered crossly.
"Yea well don't let the door hit you in the arse on the way out!" he yelled before she slammed the door and was gone.

Trista held her tears back as she ran out of the Slytherin common room and up to the Entrance Hall. She pushed open the old oak doors and out into the night. The wind picked up and she shivered, not having her cloak. She made her way to the lake and sat down in the cool grass near the waters edge.
She very well knew the mistake she had made-besides the fact of snogging almost every 6th year boy at Hogwarts- she had tried to pin her faults on Draco. She knew better then that, especially since it wasn't his fault. She wanted attention and got it in the only way she could think possible. What was worse was she tried to bring Lucius into it, Draco knew that Trista didn't care for Lucius Malfoy and to tell you the truth she didn't think he cared for her too much either, but it was too late now, she had opened her mouth and said the wrong thing and it wasn't like Draco to forget an insult, especially if it was family related.
What could she do now? Its not like she had anyone else to associate with, Pansy had stopped talking to her only days after term started for the same reason as everyone else in the castle. Trista had half a mind to go back to the Slytherin common room and admit the guilt and shame she felt and beg for Draco's forgiveness. But if she learned one thing from him it was "never show your weakness" which was exactly what he was.
