Chapter 4: The Search for Truth

BAM!

Harry instantly woke up as Hermione had accidentally dropped her books on the desk.

"Hermione!" Harry said.

"Oh, sorry Harry," Hermione said, realizing she had dropped the books. "Didn't realize how loud that had been."

"Quite all right, just please don't ever do that again when I'm asleep," Harry said.

"Sure, that is if I remember," Hermione said.

"So, what did you find out?" Harry asked.

"You think I'm just going to let you let me look for everything?" Hermione asked.

"Well, no I just figured that you had already looked since you have a profound love for books better than I do," Harry said.

"Do I really seem like I'm the bookworm type?" Hermione asked.

Harry looked at Hermione for a minute and studied her face.

"Hermione, do you really want me to answer that?" Harry asked.

"All right so I am just a little bit of a bookworm," Hermione finally admitted.

Little bit? Harry asked in his mind. How about a lot?

Hermione looked at him in puzzlement.

"Okay, back to the subject," Harry said, directing the conversation back on track.

"Right," Hermione said. "Okay, you look through this book and I'll look through this one. We'll work our way through to the middle."

Harry didn't realize what she was saying until he looked at the books she had managed to carry over to the table.

There were about dozen stacks filled with books piled at least five or six a stack.

Good grief! How are we going to manage to look through all of these? Harry thought as he looked at the books.

Harry pulled out a book, opened it and started reading.

Three hours later....

"Harry! Listen to this," Hermione said, suddenly, almost knocking Harry out of his chair at the sudden outburst of her voice.

"What is it?" Harry asked.

"Well, I didn't find anything about the ring but maybe something about the necklace," Hermione said.

"Okay so what does it say?" Harry asked.

Hermione began to read...

According to the legend, The Sedatory Allusion, which is one of the most known legends ever that could be recorded; when the seventy-first new moon sets and the fifty-second owl hoots at dawn, will be the news of a child. A child that will be one of the most powerful child that could be born; that is until the union of a mixture of backgrounds, good and evil.

Once this child is seven years old, an old, but very wise person will be the caretaker of the this child until they reach the age of the eleven, when he or she will be able to return to his or her parents.

"Hermione, what does this have to do with my parents?" Harry interrupted.

"Harry, if you would let me finish reading you would know that it's talking about us, or at least you," Hermione said.

"Sorry, please continue," Harry said.

Hermione then continued as if she had never been interrupted....

The parents of this child, the father with a shape of a lightning bolt on his forehead, with messy jet black hair and emerald green eyes; the mother, with brown bushy hair with brown eyes to match and a little scar on her right foot.

"Don't you see? That's us," Hermione said.

Harry thought about what it had said. Was it true? Could it be? He didn't even like Hermione like that. Did he?

"Harry?" Hermione said, bring Harry out of his thoughts.

"But Hermione, how could that possibly be us? There could be somebody else with a...." Harry said but then started thinking before he could manage to finish speaking.

"Lightning bolt on your forehead, messy jet black hair, emerald green eyes... Harry, come on... that's you. It basically just described you perfectly," Hermione said.

"Okay, but we're only friends. Aren't we?" Harry asked.

Hermione studied his face for a minute.

Should I admit that I do like him as more than a friend? Or should I wait? We are coming into our sixth year. Shouldn't I? No, absolutely not. What if he doesn't like me back? Hermione thought.

Does she like me more than just a friend? Should I admit it to her first? Should I wait? Should I tell her now? No, definitely not. It's just a phase. Right? Harry thought.

They looked at each other and said, "Yes, only friends."

Why did he just answer his own question? Hermione thought, curiously.

Why did I just answer my own question? Harry thought.

"Right, so about the necklace and the ring... Let's just ignore that last thing you just read for awhile," Harry said.

"Right, okay," Hermione said, agreeing, glad that moment was over.

Two hours later...

"Have you found anything?" Harry asked.

"Yes, listen to this," Hermione said.

Hermione began to read....

According to the legend there are two parts to it: the ring and the necklace. The ring, which would be on the father of the child, is a legendary ring that could be traced all the way back to Merlin, the great wizard of our history. Its powers can keep evil away from good as long as the ring wearer lives.

The necklace, which would be on the mother of the child, can be traced as far back as Rowena Ravenclaw. It's power is also the same as the ring. But with one extra power, the power to Apparate to wherever the ring bearer might be, even with a magic block spell as old as dirt.

"Wow," Harry said. "So that's what the ring and the necklace means."

"Yeah, pretty amazing huh?" Hermione said.

"No kidding," Harry agreed.

Lily watched from behind. She felt proud of her son. She sort of enjoyed seeing the two squirm in their seats when the news of The Sedatory Allusion, came into their reach.

"Lily, how many times are you going to be watching them? You've been back in this library for who knows how many times today," a voice said.

"Sirius, I can't stand to be away from him. Besides, at least I know that they're on the right track," Lily said.

"Well, see, there you go. You know that now so leave them alone," Sirius said back.

"But what if they don't realize that they both like each other and my future grandchild won't ever exist," Lily stressed.

"Lily, they will too eventually figure that out. For now, just let them venture out into the world of knowledge and truth. Don't worry, there's a reason why the prophecy ten pages after what they read first said that it's really not a legend. But just a legend waiting to become a true story," Sirius said.

"But Siri," Lily said.

"No, no 'buts' Lily. Let's go," Sirius said, dragging her out of the room in a ghost form.
