Chapter 1: Pack of Owls

It was a hot summer afternoon when Harry had turned 16 years old. As usual, the Dursleys... didn't care at all about his birthday, but however his friends from Hogwarts did.

Upstairs in his room, were six owls waiting for him, one of which he didn't recognize, even the slightest bit, and one had a package tied to it.

Harry closed the door behind him and sat down on his bed and started for the letter on Hedwig's leg. Harry opened the letter, said thank-you to Hedwig, who gladly accepted his thanks and then went to sleep.

Dear Harry,

Hope you're doing well. Happy Birthday! See you in Diagon Alley soon, I hope.

Love,

Hermione

Harry then took a letter from one of the other owls, Ron's in fact. Harry grabbed the note from Ron off of

the bird's leg and began reading...

Dear Harry,

Happy Birthday! I know it may not be much of a birthday, with the Dursleys' and all, but at least you'll be able to get your driver's license for a car. Would you like to come stay with us until school starts? We'll be there on Monday morning if that's ok. I'll tell dad not to floo considering what happened last time. Owl back if that's not ok.

  • Ron

This'll be great! Harry thought. No more Dursleys! Yay!

Next came from the owl he didn't recognize. Harry took the letter from the bird, then all of the sudden, it vanished into thin air and Harry's eyes were starting to get big as he started to read the letter...

Dear Harry,

Happy Birthday! Doing great, I presume. I have some wonderful news for you. Please come to me your second day back at Hogwarts. The password is larkspur. Be sure to copy this down if you need to cause right when you put this letter down, it'll vanish. Again, Happy Birthday! See you then, Harry.

Yours truly,

Albus Dumbledore

What does he need to tell me? Harry wondered.

Harry quickly copied down the password and put it in his trunk. Like Dumbledore had said, when Harry put down the letter, it vanished.

"Three down, three to go," Harry said as he reached for another letter. He took the letter off the bird's leg, and off it went sailing right between the window doors, almost hitting one of the doors as it flew out.

Harry opened the letter and read...

Dated 06-28-01

Dear Harry,

If you start getting these letters that have been outdated since before who knows when, then I'll be no longer with you, or at least physically. But always remember that I'll always be watching over you, although your mother would fight me for being your guardian angel some of the time.

Hope you're having a nice birthday, which is besides the fact about the Dursleys. If they even harm you in any way, tell me and I'll be there before you could say shucks a million times in a row. Well I've decided that its time that you could keep something of you mother's. It's her wedding ring. Well I've got to go. Happy Birthday Harry! Keep you mother's ring safe. I mean it Harry, she'd probably forbid me from watching over you some of the time if you'd lost the ring.

Love,

Sirius

Harry then, with eyes watering at the thought of Sirius, wrapped the ring up and tucked it in between some of his things in his trunk for protection.

Two more, he thought, was one of em' from Hagrid, maybe?

Harry opened it to find that it wasn't from Hagrid, but just his list of supplies for the next year.

Harry took the package from the owl as it flew off. He opened it to find a book entitled, Quidditch Through The Ages.

Wow! I owe Hermione a little treat for this. Harry thought.

Harry then began packing to go to Ron's.

Right then he went down to his aunt and uncle, he told them that he'd be leaving Monday morning to go to a friend's house.

As he suspected, they were thrilled, as usual every other time that he was leaving. It was only two days away. He then went back up to his room. By that time, it was already time to go to bed.

What about Hagrid? I usually get a letter from him on my birthday, why not this year? Harry thought.

Harry then had finished packing for Monday. The next day seemed to go by rather quickly. He also got a letter from Hagrid that same day, saying that he was sorry his letter was a day late. By that time, it was already time to go to sleep and wait for Ron and Mr. Weasley the next day.

AN: So what do you think? Do you think I should continue to revise my first fanfic? If yes then please say so. If no, then please say so.
