Ron was in his seventh and last year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. During the end of sixth year Harry, Hermione, Neville, Ginny, Luna, Ron, and others were involved in the overthrowing of the Dark Lord. During this Draco even revealed himself as being a spy. Ron was now sitting in the Gryffindor common room and having many memories flood back to him.
FLASHBACK
Ron was fighting off Lestrange and out of the corner of his eye he saw Harry dueling with Voldemort and Hermione battling with a Dementor. Hermione passed out right after she shot out her otter patronus. Ron saw this and fought harder to get to Hermione to see if she was all right. By the time Ron fought off Lestrange Hermione was being hovered over by Lucius Malfoy. Lucius was standing over her and laughing and shot a spell to kill her directly at her heart. Ron was about to go after him, but Draco had already shot crucio at him and lead Lucius away from Hermione. Ron had then ran over to Hermione. He felt for a pulse with nothing but the sheer hope that she was still alive. After he lost all hope when no pulse or sings of life were left in Hermione. He got up and fought harder with tears flooding his eyes. No more than a few seconds later Harry killed Voldemort. Then Harry passed out himself.
END FLASHBACK
Ron shook himself out of the memory and wiped away a few stray tears. At that exact moment Harry walked in the common room and saw Ron and said, "Ron, are you thinking about her again?"
Ron nodded and said, "If only I could have gotten to her sooner. If only I could have told her that I loved her. If only it was me instead of her. If only we had killed Lucius earlier in sixth year when we had the chance."
Ron broke down into tears as Harry said, "Ron, your living your life on if only. Hermione would have wanted you to move on. Whether you loved her or not it would have happened. She wouldn't have wanted you to morn for her. Well, your sister told me to make sure you ate breakfast so come on." With that said Harry walked to the Great Hall and Ron closely followed. Harry sat next to Ginny and Ron sat across from them. After breakfast turned into a Ginny and Harry snogging session Ron got up and said, "You two are gross. I am her brother you know. I am going to the library. I need to start Snape's essay on Gillyweed." Ron walked down the quite and empty hall ways and tried to clear his mind. When he got to the library he went to the G-H section. He walked to a table and sat all his stuff down and walked down the aisle while barely thinking and ended up at the H portion of the G-H section. He ran his fingers over the titles and saw Hogwarts, A History. Suddenly he had another memory flood him.
FLASHBACK
It was Ron, Hermione, and Harry's third year in Hogwarts and Sirius had just broken into the school and it was Halloween night. They and the rest of the school were to be staying in the Great Hall.
"Do you think Black's still in the castle?" Hermione whispered anxiously.
"Dumbledore obviously thinks he might be," said Ron.
"It's very lucky he picked tonight, you know," said Hermione as they climbed fully dressed into their sleeping bags and propped themselves on their elbows to talk. "The one night we weren't in the tower . . ."
"I reckon he's lost track of time, being on the run," said Ron. "Didn't realize it was Halloween. Otherwise he'd have come bursting in here." Hermione shuttered.
All around them, people were asking one another the same question: "How did he get in?"
"Maybe he knows how to Apparate," said a Ravenclaw a few feet away. "Just appear out of thin air, you know."
"Disguised himself, probably," said a Hufflepuff fifth year.
"He could have flown in," suggested Dean Thomas.
"Honestly, am I the only person who's ever bothered to read Hogwarts, A History?" said Hermione crossly to Harry and Ron.
"Probably," said Ron. "Why?"
"Because the castle's protected by more than just walls, you know," said Hermione. "There are all sorts of enchantments on it, to stop people entering by stealth. You can't just Apparate in here. And I'd like to see the disguise that could fool those Dementors. They're guarding every single entrance to the grounds. They'd have seen him fly in too. And Filch knows all the secret passages; they'll have them covered . . . ."
END FLASHBACK
Ron grabbed the thick leather covered book with gold lettering and sat back down with it. Ron ran his hands over the cover and thought, "Once Hermione's hands ran over this cover and touched these pages." Ron picked up the book and began to read the thick heavy book and left his Gillyweed essay to be forgotten.
