Time Traveler

Chapter Two

Belle awoke the next morning, all refreshed. She got out of bed, got on her robe and her slippers, and walked down stairs to the kitchen to make tea.

Another day, she thought. I've got a date with Dave tonight, damn it!

She added the basil in the tea, and let it cool a bit. Tea wasn't at all good if it was hot, but it can't be too hot either. She walked into the sitting area, and sat on the couch.

"What the?" Harry said defensively. Belle had sat on him. "Hey! Get the fuck off me!"

Belle stood up, confused as to who this person was. She set the teacup down, got out her wand, and looked at this being who was sleeping on her couch. Who ever it was, she wasn't going to let him go without a fight.

Harry uncovered his face from the blanket. He looked relived as he saw Belle standing in front of him, even if she was holding a wand to his face.

Belle, however, was still unsure of who this person was on her couch. It wasn't until Harry rubbed his eyes with his hands and uncovered his scar did she remember him. She smiled, in spite herself, and sat back down, on the small of the couch that he didn't cover.

She looked at him. He laid his head back on the pillow. "I'm so sorry, Harry!" she said, trying not to laugh. "I forgot you were here..."

She handed him her cup of tea, and he took it gratefully. He looked so peaceful drinking the tea, she thought.

"I wanted to sleep here," he said. "But you said differently last night." He smirked. "If I did go with your offer to sleep with you, then you wouldn't have forgotten..."

"Did I?" she asked, sounding confused. "I offered you to sleep with me?" She opened her eyes wide. "I don't remember asking that!"

Harry laughed. "Because you didn't." He sat up, then set the cup down on the table and turned his eyes on her, regretfully. "Do you know why I came here?" He took her hands in his, and examined them.

"I haven't the slightest idea," Belle said. "But what I do know is that I don't want you to go."

Harry sighed. He didn't come here to make this girl fall for him. He didn't come here to do anything at all. He had to save his friends.

"I can't stay here, you know that, right?"

Belle looked like she just heard that her father was killed. Her mouth was open in disbelief. "You can't go!"

"I have to!" She wasn't going to take this easily.

He had planned on telling her this last night while he was waiting for sleep to over take him. He half regretted, and didn't regret at all feeling this way towards her. The kiss last night was all he asked for, without knowing that he asked for it.

Harry didn't want to tell her this, but he knew he had to. He started to feel even worse when he saw tears welling up in her eyes.

Belle retreated her hands, and turned and stared at the closed windows. She felt she was being selfish now, and she knew he didn't even plan this all of sudden trip to begin with, but he couldn't leave her now.

Harry sat up, to get closer to her. He placed his hand on her cheek, and made her look at him. He opened his mouth, but quickly closed it again, once he saw that she had tears coming down.

"I have to go. My friends..." He couldn't finish his sentence. "The whole reason why I used the Time-Turner was to save my friends. But, as I said yesterday, something went wrong. And I ended up here. None of this was planned, I...I'm sorry."

Belle nodded, not wanting him to think of her as the selfish spoiled brat that most of the purebloods were. Belle leaned in and hugged him, not wanting him to see her cry. Harry wrapped his arms around her to comfort her. He could hear her crying, and he wanted her to calm down.

"Listen..." He pulled away from her, and looked deep into her eyes. He didn't think he could go on after seeing her like she was. Her perfect, soft skinned face was now red and tear-stained. "I'll be going as soon as possible, so it won't be a hard goodbye, okay?"

Belle nodded, and hugged him again. She pulled back and looked into his eyes. Was he really seriously doing this? He looked serious. She dried her tears, and stood up, pulling him with her.

"You better hurry up, then," she said. She smiled. "I don't want you to forget about your friends all because of me."

Harry smiled, and hugged her. "Thank you for understanding." He pulled away and kissed her. Not a long, passionate kiss, like the night before, but more of a "I'll see you again" kiss. They pulled apart, and Harry took out the Time-Turner. "Don't let Dave over take you, got it?"

Belle smiled and nodded. "Yeah, like that'll ever happen. Go, before I miss you too much." She smiled sadly at him.

He smiled sadly back. How could he part from her? But, he had no choice. He already decided to leave as soon as possible, and, to prevent any further love gestures, he had to.

He held the Time-Turner in front of him. He gave Belle one last look...
