Chapter 15 - Draco meets Faith

Faith left the Ministry, leaving something she would never deem possible behind. She left information about what's been happening at Malfoy Manor for the past month. She silently cursed her daughter for making her do such a thing. Luckily, though, the Aurors were not to attack until the next and, perhaps, final meeting of the Death Eaters for Harry Potter. Lord Voldemort was either going to kill him, or Potter would join. Faith didn't know why Melly cared so much about the Potter boy and his friends. Did she not raise Melly to be bad? Did she not put Melly in the care of one of the most evil wizards there are? Why did she have to love that red headed boy so?

She looked around London. She didn't feel like going back to the manor so soon. Sure, her daughter is passed out in a bathtub because of her, but at least it was nice to be outside again after...how long has it been since she almost killed that woman for wanting to kill Melly? At least four years. She still felt a pang of guilt, leaving her daughter alone in a bathtub, her energy almost drained out of her.

Knowing this, Faith sighed, and cursed herself for ever agreeing to this plan in the first place.

---

Voldemort bounded through the door. He glared at the occupants in the room. Lucius stood up, bowed, and moved away from the bed so Voldemort could examine her. Draco only stood up and backed up a few steps.

"What happened?" he demanded of Draco. He looked down at Melly and sneered at her pale face. He didn't need any explanation; he knew what happened.

"I found her in her bathroom and she was passed out just like she is now," Draco responded. Voldemort noticed something amiss in the wording Draco used, but chose to ignore it.

"She'll be fine," hiss Voldemort. "How dare you waste my time for the likes of this." He stood up straight and faced Draco.

"What do you mean?"

"She'll be fine."

"She was covered in her own blood when I found her. She'll be fine! What are you talking about?"

"Do you raise your voice to me, boy?" Voldemort yelled.

"Draco!" Lucius scolded. "You show respect to your master!"

Draco glared at his father, and was about to comment on that, and say something about quitting, when someone spoke in his mind.

'Do not fight them, Draco,' the voice said. 'You don't want to have to abandon her now of all times, do you?'

'No,' Draco thought. He looked at Melly.

'Then do not anger Voldemort, for he can not see past his power. If you lie, he would not know, for you are his right hand man's son.'

Draco looked at the floor. He bowed his head. "I'm sorry, Master," he whispered.

"I still do not believe you wasted my time for this trash."

"I understand, Master." He would not look at Voldemort, for fear that the voice was wrong, and Voldemort really could tell that he'd be lying.

"Now, if you'll excuse me..." Voldemort turned to leave, but the door slammed shut. He flinched and glared back at Draco and Lucius. "What's going on?" he demanded.

"You should care more about your daughter," the voice that was in Draco's head said.

Draco looked up. The two other men had heard the voice as well.

"Don't bother me, now, of all times," Voldemort hissed. "I have business to attend to, wench!"

"But you also have a daughter to take care of," the voice boomed. Draco noticed the voice was a woman's voice, and she sounded powerful. "I leave for no more than ten minutes, and this what I come back to find?"

Draco looked confusingly at his father and Voldemort, both knowing whom the voice belonged to.

"Well, you're back now." Voldemort moved to the door. "You can take of her now." He held out his hand to grasp the doorknob, but a gust of wind blew.

Draco looked around. He was frightened by the way the wind blew, but nothing seemed disturbed by it. The wind suddenly stopped, and he looked at his father and Voldemort. Both seemed to be looking towards the bed. He also turned towards the bed, but jumped at seeing another being there.

She looked at Voldemort, fit to kill him. "You should care more about Melly Fate if you do not want to die."

"And how will I be able to die by you if you couldn't even kill Bella?" Voldemort dared. Draco didn't think it a good idea to challenge this woman. She looked like a menace.

"I can take control of Melly's body. I'll have her kill you. It's simple. Did you not see how easy it was for me to get rid of Bellatrix LeStrange?"

"I never really cared for the wench LeStrange, anyway."

The woman raised an eyebrow as if to challenge Voldemort. "Really?"

"May I go now?" he growled.

"Sure, do whatever you like. I've never stopped you before, why should I stop you now?"

Voldemort spun around, and bounded out of the room, Lucius hot on his heals. Once Lucius was out, the door swung shut. Draco glanced at the woman standing over Melly. She wasn't looking at him, but looking over Melly pityingly.

"Did I not teach you anything, girl?" she whispered. She made a move to touch her.

Draco stepped forward, his wand out. "Who are you? What are you doing here?" She seemed to be an enemy of Voldemort's. Not that he cared. But if she was working with the Aurors she might turn him in, and he didn't want that.

She stood up straight and faced him. She smiled. "My! You're more handsome looking at you through my own eyes, Draco. I'm sorry it didn't work out between you and Sherry. And I'm also sorry that Melly, here, decided to love Ronald, and not you. The wedding is still on, I hope?" She looked anxious.

"No," Draco said, furrowing his eyebrows together. He slowly lowered his wand. Who was this woman? Why did she seem familiar?

"Sorry about this," she said, indicating towards Melly. "She just happened to be by the bathtub when she fell. I hope she wasn't hurt too badly." She looked back at the girl lying on the bed.

Draco raised his wand back up. "What do you mean? She was drenched in her own blood! She's pale. I'm surprised she's still alive."

"Oh, she'll live a long life. I'm not so sure on happy." She turned to Draco and smiled. "She'll be living with me for the rest of her life. How saddening..."

"What do you mean? Who are you?"

"...Having to live your mother for the rest of your life."

"Who - " Draco stopped. Why was she talking about living with his mother for the rest his life? He wasn't planning on staying at Malfoy Manor for too long. In fact, he was getting ready to leave once he helped Melly with the escaping. "I won't ask you again."

"Oh, pardon me. My name is Faith."

Draco's jaw dropped. It couldn't be. So, Melly was telling the truth all those years he didn't believe her? Her mother really did live inside her? Is that what that woman meant about Melly living a long yet unhappy life with her mother with her?

"Don't look so surprised, Draco. You've met me before."

"When? How?" He lowered his wand, his mouth still agape.

"Oh, lots of times. Your birthday last year, remember? Melly was a little...too aggressive towards you?" She winked.

"I remember that."

"That's the first time I was out around Sherry. I don't think she liked that all too well." Faith laughed.

Draco nodded. He looked down to Melly, and back up to Faith. "If you don't mind..." he said. "But, could you tell me what's wrong with Melly?"

"She wanted me to get out of her." Faith walked to Draco. "But, in order for me to leave her body, I need her energy. When I left, she was by the bathtub. She fell, and fell pretty hard. I wanted to catch her, but..." She held up her transparent hands to Draco. "...I can't. I went into her dreams, and she just told me to go do what I was told to do. So, I did. I'll go back, and you can ask her why she made me leave, because I'm not really in the mood to talk about it." Her voice dipped dangerously low as she finished.

Draco nodded. "When you go back, will she wake up?"

"Most likely. Maybe not for a while, she might go in shock with the all new added energy. Last time I left her, she woke up almost immediately. So, I guess we'll never know until I go back, right?"

"If it isn't too much trouble..."

"I don't want to though." She cocked her head to the side and smiled at Draco. "If you aren't marrying Melly, I'm sure up for the taking."

"No, that's quite alright. I'm actually not looking for a marriage at the moment. So, if you could just..." He pointed to Melly.

Faith sighed, and nodded. "Alright! I'll go." She smiled and touched Draco's cheek. "You know, you were quite cute when you were a baby. What happened?"

She chuckled, and floated back to Melly. She sat on the bed, and stroked her daughter's hair. She smiled at Draco one more time, before laying on top of Melly, and disappearing inside the girl's body.

Draco ran over to Melly and fell by her side. He smiled at seeing Melly's eyes flutter open, and look at him.
