Author's Note:
I was reading a lot of depressing fics when I started writing this. Well, here's another chapter. It took me a long time to get it up, because I haven't been able to get to my computer in a long time. read and enjoy!

Chapter thirteen - A little scare

Melly sat on her bed, and looked at herself in the mirror. She seemed to be getting bored with dark blue hair. She had never really took it to mind to change it again. Of course, she never really took it to mind to do anything anymore.

What was wrong with her? She stayed in, and never went out. The last time she was outside was the night Ron and Harry were captured. She decided it was all their fault. It was their fault they came here; their fault they got captured...but was it really their fault?

She grabbed her wand that lay in front of her and pointed it at her hair. It was dull, and she hadn't washed it in weeks. She could see the visible streaks of grease and the dull, dark color of her hair.

She could wash it now, as her mother wanted her to do; or she could leave it, and be the miserable looking girl that she was.

Miserable.

When was she not miserable? She knew she had some good times with Ron, but did that mean she wasn't miserable? She hated it at Malfoy Manor. She hated being the daughter of the most hated wizard in all the magical world. She hated herself for who she really was.

Ron had told her of Harry's relatives he had to live with all the while growing up. A freak is what his Aunt Petunia would call anyone of magical abilities.

That's exactly what she was: a freak. She was no witch at all. Sure, she knew how to use a wand, and knew all the unforgivables, and killed a few people in her time. But what was it that truly made a girl a witch?

Hermione Granger, she was a witch. She was smart, pretty, good social skills, is in love with the hero; hell, she even put her life in danger to come see Harry again.

Then, there was Affinity Holder, the witch who loved Ron so, she didn't think it was possible for another to feel the same about him. She was a witch. She was also smart, pretty, with good social skills, but she is also courageous.

Pansy and Sherry were witches as well. They had the same qualities as Hermione and Affinity, and then some. They were dark, so they knew practically all the dark curses.

Melly had all these qualities as well; but something that happened in Melly's life made her different from the rest: she didn't graduate from Hogwarts. Sure, there had to be others out there who didn't pass their N.E.W.T.s, but she knew they were witches, like she was not.

Despite the objections her mother gave her, Melly knew what she thought was true, though, she never thought about it like this before.

She had discovered that she was no witch built for this world. She was no Hermione Granger, or Sherry Strands, or Pansy Parkinson. And she most definitely was no Affinity Holder. The two were so much different, how could Ron even consider smiling at her? Affinity was so much better than she. Affinity was more well though out. She was not a nervous break down. She most definitely isn't a dark witch, who is trying to free her prisoners. Ron deserved a witch more of his type, more like Hermione for he loves her so as well, someone who isn't keeping him locked up, someone who isn't holding anything against him, someone who is on his side, someone like Affinity.

"She's right. I believe you're the only one for him," she said wanting to sound teasingly but it came out venomously.

Affinity smiled. "I know."

Melly sighed. How much did she hate that scene that kept making its way back into her mind? She hated the way that girl assumed she was the only one for him, though, she knew Affinity was right.

That smile she gave Melly, that's what gave it away. Affinity did know that she was the only one for him, and the smile proved it. Ron loved Melly, but that didn't mean that Melly was good for him.

He changed, she didn't need a seer to tell her that. Before he met her, he was living a good life, a happy life. Maybe he was happier when they were together, but it ended too soon. Now, he's living in a dungeon, unaware of the danger he's putting himself in, believing they were really going to escape. That wasn't going to happen; it couldn't happen.

She couldn't live like this anymore. She wanted Ron to be happy, yet, she wanted to be happy as well. How can she be happy by keeping Ron locked up in a cell, not even knowing whether its day or night, while his friends are either in the neighboring cells, or just outside, free, while he's in there, confined.

"I have to end this," she whispered.

---

Draco just happened to walk by Melly's room when he heard a sound he never thought he'd heard from her room: the sound of glass breaking and shattering, the sound of cries, the sound of hatred.

He knocked on her door. "Melly?" No answer.

What was with her? He flinched as something came in contact with the door.

He grasped the handle. "Melly?" he asked, slightly pushing the door open. He poked his head inside. "Melly?"

Melly was nowhere, but a mess sure was, and so was Journey. She was huddled up against Melly's pillows, whimpering. Draco darted for her, carefully avoiding the shards of broken glass.

"Journey?" he whispered as he reached her. The small elf kept crying. "Journey, what happened?"

Journey looked up, her beady eyes glistening from tears. "Journey does not know," she squealed. "If Journey knew Miss was mad, Journey would have gone for Master Draco immediately."

Draco examined the room. Anything glass was broken and on the floor, including the mirror. He turned back to Journey.

"Why is she angry?" he asked.

Journey sniffed. "Miss says Miss feels confined, trapped. Miss says that all pain Miss cause for everyone will soon be over; that Mister Ron and Miss Affinity will live in peace without Miss."

Draco shook his head. "Where is she?" he demanded.

Journey whimpered and pointed towards Melly's bathroom.

Draco looked Journey over. "Did she hurt you?" he asked.

Journey shook her head. "Oh, no! Miss would never hurt Journey if it was pointless. Miss only kicked Journey because Miss did not want Master Draco to get suspicious of her."

Draco nodded. He stood up and slowly made his way towards the bathroom. He was almost afraid to call out her name.

The door was slightly ajar, so he pushed it open, and peered in.

Inside, it was equally torn apart. The mirror had been shattered, and all bathroom necessities scattered on the ground.

Draco found Melly laying in the bathtub, her eyes closed. He gasped and was quickly by her side.

He smacked her face a couple times, but she didn't wake.

She couldn't have drowned herself, she wasn't wet...with water. Draco retreated his left and examined it. She was wet with blood.

His eyes grew, his face paled, and his lip.

Blood. Her blood, no doubt. He knew this, for her skin was deathly white.

He kicked the door open, startling Journey, and rushed to the bed.

'Oh, God!' he thought. What did she do?

"What happened?" Journey squeaked as soon as she felt Melly being laid on the bed.

"Fetch my father and Voldemort," he said quickly, moving Melly's hair out of her eyes. "Go! Now!"

Journey nodded, and disappeared with a snap.
