The Many Sins and the Sinners

PROLOGUE:

She was lying there and he did the unthinkable. Soaked in sweat and a little blood - the girl was - he gathered her in his tired arms and carried her to a safe place.

It was so cold and her lips were pale and blue. Not to mention it had poured earlier.

Committing another sin, he stopped, pulled off his hooded robes, and wrapped her small, frail body in it. He knew it wouldn't be enough for much longer and that we had to seek shelter immediately. But where?

In a nearby cave that he placed an Unplottable Charm on, he levitated a rock in front of the rather small opening. With that done, he lit the cave and to his pure luck it was completely empty except for a few leaves scattered from the wind and a half fallen tree that had rolled in.

Good. It will be used as fire wood if necessary.

Laying her on the ground, he checked the surroundings again before he let down his guard. Then he leaned over her to see if she was even still alive. He could feel the breath from her lips and placed his hand on her stomach. It moved up and down signaling her breathing for sure. All was fine except for the fact that she was going to die of hypothermia.

Unless he did something. . . and Lord, Father would disown him if he knew because he did . . . eventually. For to his dismay after he pulled out his wand, she startled awake and screamed.

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" Her hair was in her face as it stuck to her cheeks and her jaw was shaking from so much cold. "WHY DID YOU KIDNAP ME? LET ME GO THIS INSTANT!"

"Weasley, I saved you, shut up!" he yelled back.

"You didn't! You'd never do that in a million years even if it was to save yourself! You hate me! You always have and that won't change!"

He snorted. "Let's say I have a soft spot for girls," he sneered, staring her down. "And let's say that if you live through this ordeal you'll owe me your life an then some because I haven't captured you. You almost died out there-"

"Thanks to you, I'll presume!"

"No," he said irritably. She was rather annoying for a girl. "Thanks to my father. He's the Death Eater, not I. Nor do I wish to be. Now be still before you freeze to death." He raised his wand again.

She nearly jumped out of her wet skin. Her delicate, perfect skin that he so wished to caress. He shook the thought from his mind when she spoke. "No! I don't believe you. You'll kill me!"

"Why? What purpose would you serve dead?" he asked coldly, taking a step towards her.

"Let me out of here. I insist!" As he grew closer, he could tell she grew more flustered. "You won't keep me here or I'll-"

"You'll what?" he spat. "You kill me and you have no way out! And even if you did manage to levitate this rock, you wouldn't last ten minutes outside this cave alone!" The way her eyes glittered showed him she knew it too. "I am your protector, Weaslette. Learn to like it because I don't need you. I can make it out of here. You can't," he pointed out darkly. She became small and scared in front of him. Vulnerable even.

Her teeth chattered like ice crackling together. "H-how do you even k-know that w-w-we're safe in here?" she asked, failing to sound brave. She had goosebumps and she was freezing. Without noticing she took a step toward him as well. He saw it but she did not.

Step away from the window

Go back to sleep::

He told her about the Unplottable Charm. "No one can find us."

"W-why?" She didn't like that idea stirring in her mind at all. If he was telling the truth, then that meant NO ONE could find them. What about her family? Were they alright?

"Because no one can know where it is unless they are told where it is. And the only people that know are you and I." He stepped closer now - much closer - and it took all of her stubbornness not to curl up in his arms for warmth. She despised him with every part of her being. He was Slytherin and a complete jerk who couldn't step off his high horse if he wanted to. He was Draco Malfoy.

He took out his wand once more. "Let's try this again." He whispered a spell that dried her nightgown and her hair. It heated her entire body. She sighed in relief. "Better?" he asked.

She nodded meakly but she wouldn't thank him. "I hate you. Don't ever forget it," she said, glaring at him.

He chuckled and it made the hair on her neck stand up. "And I you."

"What if I don't want to stay here? What if I'd rather die out there in the forest then be stuck in a cave with Satan's child?"

"There's no need for pet names, Weaslette," Malfoy said huskily. She cringed. "If you'd so much rather be out there," he pointed to the rock blocking the entrance to the cave, "where you almost died of hypothermia, then go right ahead." He lifted his wand, not at her but at the rock. "Just say the word and-"

"No!" she gasped suddenly. "I mean..." She trailed off completely. He could see her blush even though he wasn't looking directly at her.

He sat down on the floor to start a fire. "Get comfortable. I don't know how long we'll be here."
