Chapter 6

The next weekend, Ginny woke up bright and early to get ready for her date with Malfoy.

She spent a half hour looking for a perfect outfit and that was a record for Ginny, who never had trouble picking out what to wear.

She knew she was only going out with Malfoy, but he was a guy nonetheless.

In the end, she decided on wearing a jean skirt that went below her knees and a blue t-shirt. Today, she let out her long, wavy, red hair and put it back with a matching blue crochet headband. Then she put on some pink lip-gloss and she was done.

She wasn't much of a makeup wearer, that is to say she didn't wear any. In fact, she hated it and she thought that girls who wore makeup were artificial, but that was just her opinion on the matter. The one thing she couldn't live without though was lip-gloss.

She had bought a bunch and only used one at a time.

She left the castle with her friends, talking and laughing. They all told her how much they missed her and asked why she wasn't around anymore.

Ginny said, "You guys know how serious I am about studying, so I really want to get good grades."

They nodded and believed her, but Ginny felt bad. They were her best friends and she was lying to them.

The thought flew out of her head when Sam nudged her and said, "Wow, Gin. You look so nice today? Who's it for?"

Ginny blushed and said, "No one. I was just tired of wearing pants and wanted to wear something nice today."

They nodded and laughed.

Along the way, Harry, Ron and Hermione joined them and walked with them to Hogsmeade.

When they were almost there; Draco, Crabbe and Goyle pushed into them.

"Watch it Malfoy," said Harry.

"Look who it is," drawled Malfoy. "Potty, Weasley, Mudblood, little Wesley and her friends."

Ginny caught his eye and his eyes paused on her for a second. They travelled up and down her body and then they rested on her face, before moving on.

"Don't you dare look at my sister like that," said Ron, getting ready for a fight.

Malfoy rolled his eyes. "Like I'm interested in her. Anyways, it's been fun chatting with you all, but we've got dates."

They left and Ron cursed them. Hermione and Harry tried to calm him down and Ginny just rolled her eyes at Malfoy's back.

He was walking ahead of them and Ginny couldn't keep her eyes off of him for a few minutes. She couldn't hear what her friends were saying; all she could see was Malfoy. She was planning her next tactics for the plan.

He was wearing a pair of black jeans with a button up shirt. Enemies or not, Ginny had to admit, he was hot. As she stared at him, she couldn't help but smile.

Her friends saw her smile so Padma said, "Hey Ginny, what're you thinking about?"

Ginny just shrugged and said, "Just the usual. How much I hate Dr.. I mean Malfoy."

Her friend giggled. Luna said, "It didn't look that way. It looked like you were smiling at someone."

Everyone giggled.

"I think you're having a crush on Malfoy," said Sam.

"What?" screamed Ginny, in panic.

"Relax, " started Luna, but Ginny interrupted her.

"I wasn't smiling at him, I was smiling at...." Ginny's eyes scanned the crowd in front of them, looking for a suitable person to have a crush on. As mentioned before, Ginny was horrible at thinking on her feet and was stuttering.

"I was smiling at Marcus Flint," she blurted out as he turned around to punch Crabbe.

"What?" her friends shrieked.

"Yes," she said, lying to cover up the Malfoy contact. "I'm totally in love with him, isn't he cute?"

Just at that moment, Marcus turned around and Ginny felt like vomiting. Flint was anything BUT cute. His nose was crooked, his teeth were shattered and missing, his eyes small and he walked with a limp. It was all result of seven years of Quidditch.

"Ew!" said Sam. "You know, Gin, I was just kidding about the Malfoy thing, but I can't believe you like a Slytherin!"

Ginny sighed and walked with her friends into Hogsmeade.

*~*

Ginny got rid of her friends and made her way to Marry Milksop's teashop. It was located in a more rich and snobby area of Hogsmeade. Ginny couldn't help but smirk, it seemed like a very Draco-ish place to pick.

When she thought about it again, she realized she had smirked. Draco was already influencing her to smile the way he did, sheesh.

She went in and found Draco already waiting for her. He was slouching over slightly in his chair, showing off his long legs.

Ginny smiled a little, trying to look pleased. She sat down in front of him and said hi.

He smirked at her and said, "Well, well what do we have here? A Weasley coming to meet a Malfoy?"

Ginny scowled. Her mood was already in the dumps; sitting for hours with the git wasn't going to make it any better.

"I was just joking," he said, "no need to get all offended."

She rolled her eyes and rubbed her forehead. She was getting another one of her headaches. She inwardly groaned and tapped her floor under the table.

"Aren't you a right little ray of sunshine," he said, with an eyebrow raised.

Ginny couldn't take it anymore; she got up and left.

She left the stupid teashop, slamming the door behind her. She started walking, where, she didn't even know.

A few seconds later, Draco grabbed her arm and stopped her. He turned her around but Ginny wasn't in the mood.

"Just leave me alone, ok!" she yelled.

He stared at her, and then followed her as she started up the street.

"Hey, Ginny. Calm down, jeez. What is your problem?" he asked.

Ginny just ignored him and continued walking. He grabbed her hand and didn't let go.

"Jeez, you've got one hell of a temper. All I said was a Weasley coming to meet a Malfoy, that's it!" he said. "There's no need to go running out of the shop like some hyena on a rampage."

Ginny stopped walking and glared at him.

He smirked back at her and she let it out. "What is my problem?! What the bloody hell is your problem? First you annoy me when we were coming here, then you make some dumb comment about that and then you ask me what MY problem is?"

He cocked his head to one side and then said, "You're kinda sexy when you're mad."

Ginny's mouth dropped open. She stared at him for a few seconds trying to say something, and then finally decided to give up.

She decided she was tired, so she stopped by a tree and sat down.

Malfoy sat down right next to her.

"I didn't know you were such an angry person, jeez you even are better than me," he said.

Ginny took a deep breath and tried something that had never worked; she counted to ten. "Look, can you please leave me alone for a while?"

He shrugged and looked out into the empty streets. After a few minutes of silence, Ginny decided to make peace. That was just the way she was, she would be completely angry one minute and then the next she would try to make peace (even if it was their problem).

"Malfoy Manner must be so nice," she said. Ginny had no idea what made her say it. She had been thinking about it for two seconds, about how nice his house must be, when she just blurted it out.

He nodded faintly and said, "Yes, it is."

"Did you live there forever?" she asked.

He nodded, "All my life."

"You're so lucky," she said. Ginny knew she shouldn't be jealous of other people's things, but sometimes she couldn't help it. She had grown up poor and she would probably live poor all her life.

"Why?"

"You have such a nice house. All I have is my shack," she said glancing at him.

He smirked slightly, recalling the ever so familiar words he had used countless times on her, over the past years.

"But having a nice house, isn't everything," he said softly. "I may have a house, but no one lives in it."

"What do you mean? Your father used to live there and your mother lives there, now."

He looked up at the perfect sky and said, "But it was as if sometimes there wasn't even anybody there. My father was always away at meetings with the Dark Lord, breaking the law and my mother was always with him. I grew up on my own."

Ginny's one eyebrow was up, as she asked, "You really grew up alone?"

He shrugged. "Sure. I potty trained myself, I taught myself how to walk, I taught myself how to read and write," he said with a smirk.

Ginny smiled at the potty trained part and waited for him to go on.

"I grew up without my parents. Even when my parents were there, I had to be this obedient little boy that would do everything his parents said. Just before he went to Azkaban, he began pressuring me to join the Dark Lord as well."

"What did you say?" asked Ginny.

"I told him I would think about it, but I already knew that I would never do it," he said.

Ginny stared at him. She had always thought he would've joined the dark side because of his father and she thought he loved power and evil. She was surprised.

Draco glanced at her and laughed. "I know what you're thinking, that you thought I would join the dark side, but you're wrong. I may love power, but I rather have it all to myself. I don't want to be working for some old guy, and to just give it all to him. I'd do it for myself."

Ginny laughed and said, "Quite modest, aren't you?"

He grinned, a real smile that Ginny had never seen and said, "Yes, that's me. Before, we just spend the whole day here sitting, do you actually want to walk around or are you too lazy?"

Ginny grinned and got up. "Let's go."

"You're not mad at me anymore?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.

Ginny couldn't help but smile. "No, I guess not."

He smirked and they went on their way.
