"I think she's good!" Ron exclaimed.
"You just think she's hot," Ginny teased.
"Shut up!" Ron said, his ears turning bright red. Harry and Ginny laughed and then continued watching the fake scrimmage that was going on. (No snitches though, since they only needed Chasers for the team.) At the moment, Quidditch try-outs were happening to fill the two Chaser spots. There were five girls, (two 3rd years, one 6th year, one 2nd year, and one 7th year) and 7 guys (Dean, Seamus, Colin, his little brother Dennis, one 2nd year, and two 6th years). Fred and George looked like they were having the time of their life beating Bludgers at everyone.
Ron was looking very interestedly at the sixth year girl named Renee.
"Get over it Ron, she's older than you and she's got a boyfriend," Harry said
"How do you know?" Ron asked.
"I've seen her before, walking down the hallways with some Hufflepuff guy," Harry answered.
"They could just be friends," Ron argued
"Believe me, they're not friends," Harry said. Ron looked very irritated at this and muttered something a little rude. Harry and Ginny exchanged amused glances and both tried their best not to laugh.
The scrimmage continued until Harry blew the whistle, signaling he'd made his decision. Everyone flew down immediately to see if they were on the team.
"Alright, before I begin let me say it was tough making this choice because all of you flew and played excellently. I hope you're not too disappointed if you don't make the team. I want all of you to-"
"Just say the results already!" Seamus interrupted.
Harry raised an eyebrow then continued,
"Well for my two chasers I picked:
Renee Halaway and Johanna Carom (one of the 3rd years).
Both girls squealed in delight, while everyone else's face's fell. But they perked up again when Harry said,
"I also chose back-up players for the team. For the Beaters, the Creevey brothers. For the three chasers: Dean Thomas, Seamus Finnegan and Ann-marie Johanson (the 7th year). For the keeper: Tyler Emery (the 6th year boy). Everyone else, I encourage you to join next year."
"What about the back-up seeker?" one of the 2nd years demanded, hoping maybe he'd get that position.
"Well, I was hoping Ginny would fill that honor," Harry said causally looking over to Ginny grinning.
Ginny was amazed. She couldn't believe it, her a seeker? Even if she was a back up one, trouble did follow Harry everywhere; she might get to play a seeker occasionally. She stole a glance at Ron to see his reaction. To her amazement he had a knowing smile on his lips.
"Well Ginny?" Harry asked.
"Oh, yes, of course, I mean, I'd love to!" Ginny responded, smiling ear to ear.
"I was hoping you'd say yes," Harry said.
The people who didn't get a spot at all trudged back up to the castle, thoroughly disappointed. The rest followed after congratulations went around, and when they'd cleaned up; they headed down for dinner.

Harry and Ron were both in the common room, playing chess. Everyone else had long gone to bed.
"So, you finally fancy my sister back! God she was always so mopey about the fact that you didn't. Well, if my sister were to go out with anyone, it might as well be my best friend," Ron said grinning.
"Sshhhhh!! Someone might hear!" Harry exclaimed. "Yes, I do fancy Ginny. Can't believe I never saw how beautiful she was. I mean she's got beautiful-"
"Whoa! Stop right there! I don't want to here that! I mean she's my sister!" Ron interrupted.
"Oh, sorry," Harry said sheepishly. "So," he continued, "when will you admit you fancy Hermione?"
Ron choked on a bit of chocolate frog he was eating and turned red, not only on his ears but his face as well.
"Don't know what you're talking about," Ron said in a tight voice.
"Please! It is so obvious, I'm surprised she hasn't noticed; everyone else has," Harry replied.
"Well... I... Ok, Ok, I fancy her! There you happy?" Ron said.
"Quite. Well I'm off to bed seeing as you beat me in chess, again," Harry said, yawning.
"Yea, I'll head up too, I'm tired. Oh and about the whole Hermione thing, don't tell anyone! Ok?"
"Yea sure, same about Ginny?" Harry asked
"Of course, just promise that when you two start going out, you treat her with respect and all that stuff. Oh and you do the whole good boyfriend thing and buy her flowers and chocolate and anything else she might want," Ron said.
"Would never dream of doing anything else," Harry replied.
"Good. 'Night Harry," Ron said climbing into bed.
"G'night," Harry said, right before falling asleep.

A bit after Halloween, Ginny was reading over one of the books Draco had gotten (he always got their first and got the books). It listed all the Egyptian Gods and gave information on all of them. Ginny was so into her reading and taking notes, she forgot completely that Draco Malfoy (her number-one enemy) was sitting across from her. They tended to study in silence; so far no one knew she'd been studying with Draco Malfoy in the library every morning. As she read, some strands of hair fell in front of her face. A voice broke into her blissful reading,
"So I see you're trying to get rid of the trademark Weasley red hair."
Ginny was a bit startled, for two reasons. One, because she wasn't expecting any type of talking whatsoever. And two, she had no idea what he meant.
"What on earth are you talking about?" she asked.
His hand reached forward and touched her white lock of hair. "This, not a usual Weasley characteristic if I'm not mistaken." Ginny stiffened at both his touch and the fact that she forgot that her white streak was in plain view.
"Don't blame you, I wouldn't want people recognizing me as a Weasley either," he drawled.
Ginny's embarrassment and surprise at her precious secret being shared with her 'enemy' was quickly dissolved in anger.
"Shut. Up," she said in a very pressed voice. "Remember the deal..." she tried to say without flying out in a rage.
"Yes, yes of course," Draco said very calmly. "Still, what other reason would you have for magically dying your hair?" He said all this as if he were trying to bait her into arguing. "I mean, getting rid of the red hair... Is little 'Ginny' trying to be rebellious? How cute..."
He could sense that he was annoying her. Ginny clenched her hands into fists and her knuckles began to turn white. She closed her eyes and tried counting to 10, as her mother once told her to do to when she needed to calm down. She wasn't even listening to what Draco was saying anymore, and every single little snipe he'd made at her filled her mind. Her eyes flew open and as if her right hand had a mind of it's own it went flying in the air and slapped Draco soundly across the face. Milliseconds after she smacked him Ginny realized fully what she had done. She let out a soft, involuntary gasp, amazed at what just happened.
"Must learn to control that Weasley temper," was the first thought to run through the little red head's mind. When she took the moment to actually look at Draco he was staring at her in a mixture of anger and disbelief. His pale skin on his left cheek was now bright red and looked as if it stung horribly. He seemed to shocked for words. Ginny felt that as much as he deserved it, she shouldn't have hit him anyway. The same hand that had caused the damage rose to it's own accord and delicately went too touch the red handprint.
As soon as her fingertips made contact with his skin, Ginny had a flash of images and visions. Meanwhile the touch of her fingertips brought Draco to his senses. His face contorted with fury at the fact of his pride being wounded terribly. Grabbing her wrists with such a grip that made Ginny feel like he'd make a hole through her whole arm, he hissed in quiet yet commanding and fearful voice,
"You filthy, little vermin! How dare you even touch me? You may be pureblood but you disgrace the name with your foul little mudblood and muggle loving ways! You and your unwholesome family, never ever disrespect me ever again! You will be sorry for this!"
He threw her wrists down on the table in anger. He grabbed some of the books in front of them then shoved the rest of them at her and then he stalked off out of the library - out of sight.
Ginny still sat there, staring so hard at her wrists where bruises were beginning to form, that her focus was blurring. Tears began to form in her eyes and began to spill freely. It had nothing to do with the pain in her wrists or Draco's harsh words. It didn't even register to her that he'd insulted her and thus the deal was broken. Ginny wasn't aware of her surroundings or the fact that Draco had left the library. Her breathing became strangely heavy and labored. All that Ginny could sense was the vision she just had:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was dark. Black clouds clouded the whole sky, and occasionally they would light up for a moment with lightning. It wasn't raining, yet. Ginny made her way through the dark streets and alleys. The smell of smoke filled her lungs and as she continued it got stronger. All house and building windows were boarded with pieces of plywood and graffiti of the dark mark covered everything.
She started to run with some unknown panic filling her every part of her soul and body. She saw a little boy run around a corner and she followed. The boy was covered in dirt and mud and - to the utter revulsion of Ginny - dried blood and vomit. Ginny saw that he was sickeningly skinny and scared. She moved forward to comfort him but realized he couldn't see her, as if she was in a Pensieve.
Suddenly a green light flashed and struck the boy. Her stomach knotted as he collapsed to the floor and she realized it was the dreaded killing curse - Avada Kedavra. Out of the shadows stepped a Death Eater and Ginny recoiled in fear. He laughed, kicked the now dead boy, laughed more, and then strolled down the dark alleyway. Ginny felt like puking. Ginny ran as fast as she could out of the street her hand covering her mouth.
A piercing scream stopped her in her tracks. It was followed by another scream, and then another. Soon the air was filled with the shrieking. Ginny turned to the direction the screams were coming from and ran to see what was happening. What she found almost made her faint. Thousands of people were being tortured and killed - both with wands and bare hands - by death eaters. Everything was on fire and dead bodies littered the floor. Ginny wanted desperately to help but couldn't. Suddenly from behind her came some horrid, evil laughter. Ginny turned expecting an evil form of Voldemort to be standing behind her, but what she saw terrified her so much more that she screamed.
There in front of her was: herself. It was her, yet there was this evilness to her mirror image. Her demented eyes glowed red. On her face was a cruel smile, with pointed canine teeth pointing over her bloodstained, red lips. She looked around at the suffering people screaming for mercy then dying, and laughed a maniacal laugh. Ginny looked at her 'evil twin' and began to back away, short of breath. This psychotic clone of herself snapped its head in her direction.
"Join me..." it hissed. And it began to make its way to Ginny. Ginny turned heel and ran as fast as she could. Her feet and legs pounded with pain and exhaustion but she couldn't stop. Suddenly, she tripped over a dead body and landed on the bloody floor. She rolled over just to see the evil Ginny taking a strange, intricate looking dagger, rising it high. It winked at her and then plunged it towards her chest. When the blade should've killed her, darkness consumed Ginny into its deep abyss.
Ron, Harry, and Hermione were searching everywhere for Ginny.
Hermione had checked the all girls' dormitories while Ron and Harry checked all the boys' dormitories ("You never know! I mean she is fourteen!" Ron exclaimed. This seemed to thoroughly upset Harry.) Finally they stopped Kat, Celeste, and Elaine who were walking through the hallways chatting quite contentedly about Arthur Kabul, a sixth year Ravenclaw.
"Do any of you know where Ginny is?" Harry asked, interrupting their very 'important' conversation.
"Well, she wasn't in bed wen we woke up," Kat replied.
"Yea, and she wasn't in any of our classes either!" Celeste pitched in.
"Basically, we haven't seen her all day," Elaine summed up.
"Great..." Ron muttered and they all turned and left, Hermione calling her thanks over her shoulder.
Finally, they searched the one place they hadn't been to yet, the library.
They quickly searched all the areas until they reached the furthermost table. And there sat Ginny. She looked so small and vulnerable. They ran to her side.
"Ginny, what's wrong?" they asked gently.
They got no response. All she did was sit there shaking and crying.
"We have to get her to the infirmary, now!" Ron exclaimed, with panic evident all through his voice.
The other two nodded their agreement and the 2 boys lifted her and carried her out, while Hermione brought Ginny's book and things. Lucky for them, Madam Pince wasn't there; they didn't quite feel like explaining.
They all rushed into the infirmary and Madam Pomfrey didn't even wait for an explanation, and just scooped her up and brought her to the nearest empty bed. She looked at Ginny's pale, sunken skin and her bloodshot, tear-filled eyes and stated that she was sleep-deprived.
Pouring some dreamless sleep potion into her mouth, she told the other three to leave. Despite their complaints and protests she ushered them out.
"Oh my lord..." she breathed once they were gone. "Must get Albus!"
And with one last look at the necklace around Ginny's neck, she locked the door behind her and rushed to the headmaster's office.
Albus Dumbledore and the rest of the staff were sitting in a cold, small classroom.
"But Albus, we must stop this! She's too young! Don't you think she went through enough in her first year?" Professor McGonagall said vehemently.
The rest of the teachers murmured to each other their unanimity.
Albus sat there, with a grave look upon his face, and said in a low, yet compelling voice that silenced everyone,
"You don't understand. We can't do anything except monitor her. The necklace she wears around her neck now holds her wizarding power in it. As you know, without her powers, she could die, seeing as that is a wizard's life force. If we were to remove it, dire thing would happen."
"But why her?" Snape asked.
Dumbledore sighed and then replied, "It seems that for the past 15 years we were guarding the wrong person. Do you know why Voldemort wanted to kill Harry Potter?"
The staff nodded in the negative except one lady who sat in the back, realization slowly dawning on her.
"It is because," Dumbledore went on, "he thought Harry to be the ONE*, a wizard with so much power, they could do one of two things: use their powers for good or, have ultimate control over the world. The latter is of course, is Voldemort's number one goal. We all thought Harry to be the ONE as well, yet we were mistaken."
Several teachers shuddered.
"Unfortunately, Voldemort realized his mistake. Harry Potter while powerful, is not the ONE. It is none other than Miss Ginny Weasley," Dumbledore said.
One teacher gasped, and Professor Trelawny could be heard muttering, "I predicted this!"
Dumbledore continued, "What Voldemort wants exactly is not quite sure. Unfortunately, the necklace around her neck is ancient dark magic, so old even I am not sure quite what it is. We need to take some precautions when dealing with it."
"Shouldn't we tell her about all of this?" Professor McGonagall asked.
"No!" Dumbledore exclaimed loudly, making some teachers jump. "If she were to know, it could effect her decisions and actions. She's at an age where she can easily be influenced. Telling her could end in drastic results. Not even her parents should know, they might try to protect her when they would actually bring about more harm."
Everyone seemed too shocked for words. Could it really be? Was Ginny indeed the ONE? What was Voldemort planning? All these questions and more danced in their minds.
"You may go," Dumbledore said, his voice commanding. No one dared stay another second; they all began to rush out the door. Finally there was no one left except a certain elderly lady who lingered in her seat.
Dumbledore sensed it and said, "Seems you're guarding Ginny now."
"Yes, too bad, I rather liked Harry, almost like the son I never had. Ginny seems sweet though," she replied
"She is, went through that whole ordeal with Tom Riddle in first year too, though you know of that."
"I do. Well I must be going, business to attend to."
"Yes, of course. Goodnight Miss Figg."
As she was walking out the door she said glancing back, "Call me Arabella."
*the ONE: The reason it's called the one, is because the person is o powerful it can not be properly named. Ok, so I couldn't think of a cool name, still I like my first exclamation better.
So, do you like? Now you know about the whole necklace thing. Yes, I'm sure none of you liked the "argument" Draco and Ginny had. Don't worry, they'll be some kind of Draco/Ginny action next chapter! (I hope) Though, Harry may complicate things. Remember, REVIEW!!!!!!!!!!! (It's good for the soul!)
