The Secret Admirer of Parvati Patil

Chapter Two: GA-ROUNDED!

June 22nd

Dearest Miss Patil,

Sorry for the formality. God, I'm so stupid. I didn't even tell you how to contact me on my first letter! Well, at least I have my owl; it works out great.

I will just keep my identity my secret for now. I know if I tell you know, you'll never give me a chance. I'm not the coolest kid, so maybe if you learn to know me better, you'll give me a chance.

Anyway, just keep this owl. You can use it to contact me, if you'd even wish. I know you probably have a lot of muggle boys chasing you down, and there is probably no time to answer a stupid boy's letters. But, I can dream, can't I?

Love forever,

Y.S.A

P.S: You know what I want to do? I want to come over there and rush you off by your feet.

I read the second letter with one eyebrow up. I was expected to believe this trash? I had been used enough times to get to Padma. Like, when I went to a muggle school before being accepted into Hogwarts. There was this cute kid named Johnny Ray, and oh, he was handsome. He started flirting with me, and I actually believed he liked me. But then, Padma got a growth spurt. More like a bust spurt. All I got was my period. So, he tried to get to Padma; and, of course, it worked. More like, Padma did it out of spite. So for a few weeks they went out, then Padma dumped him. He came crawling back to me. SMACK!!! He stayed away from me for a while. Then came Billy Crugnale. He gave me loads of stuff. He told me he loved me...that's all-all I believe...I want to come over...Sorry, song moment!

Then, one day, I had Track tryouts. They were cancelled, and I came home to find two figures in Padma's bed...can you guess?

So this new guy...at least he was from Hogwarts. I'd have somebody at school, and Hogsmeade, and on the train...but it was probably a dude like Billy or Johnny. Some jerk. I re-read it.

" 'I know you probably have a lot of muggle boys chasing you down' Yeah, he really has me mixed up with Padma,"

" 'Y.S.A'?" I screwed up my face, concentrating hard. I was good at abbreviations; how to figure what it letters stood for. After studying for a little bit, I hit my head.

"I'm so stupid...Your Secret Admirer!" I punished myself for such an easy one with no dessert that night.

Ah, bliss! Padma was grounded! See, after us Patil girls had come home, Mom told Dad...Ha Ha Ha! It went like this:

Mom: Slams door behind her. "Gary, you will not believe what your daughter, our sweet Padma did!" (What about me? I'm not sweet??)

Dad: Looks surprised at favorite daughter, (Of course it is:), Padma is disgruntled, and her shirt is messed up. "What?"

Mom: Points at Padma. "She-she was snogging a boy named Michael Corner at Platform 9 ¾ when Parvati found her." She points to Padma's mussed shirt.

"That-that boy was sticking his hands up our daughter's shirt." (So, if some guy stuck his hands up my shirt, I would be loved like this?) Mom was shaking with anger. "And she let him!"

Dad: Bolts up from desk chair. "WHAT?!"

Padma: Crosses arms and taps foot. "Whatever."

Parvati: Smiles gleefully, and makes a run for her room before Padma kills her.

Parvati: Listens as Mom and Dad scream at the top of their lungs at their "beloved, perfect" daughter Padma. Life is good.

Soon, my lovely twin stomps up to her room, and slams the door. The good thing about summer vacation is, at least we have our own rooms, unlike most twins I know. I get out of my room and visit "poor" Padma.

"Hey Buddy, Old Pal, Dear Sis!" I sing. She turns to face me, a murderous look in her eyes.

"Because of you," she starts dangerously, "I am grounded." Now, at that point, I could not contain a whoop. It's usually me who's grounded at the beginning of the summer.

"For three weeks," she continues icily, ignoring my whoop of joy.

"Well, have a nice life!" I say, and run giddily back to my room, (Which is not much of a run...our rooms are next door to each other).

I jump on my bed, and one of the boards break. I fall on my head, and am knocked unconscious. But, it was fun! And Padma's grounded! Ow....

Author notes: Liike that? Check out some things to look forward to in the next chapter:
3 very short letters,
one very short party,
and some more grounding of Padma. (Oh yea, and Parvati analyzing some songs).
