Chapter Twenty-Four

The week went by slower than ever. Finally, Saturday arrived. Hermione went downstairs for lunch,

When she reached the Great Hall, she met Ron, who asked if they were still on for that night.

"Of course, Ron," Hermione answered.

"Good. Don't eat too much for lunch. I have everything planned," Ron said before he rushed up the stairs to the Gryffindor tower.

Hermione entered through the Fat Lady's portrait to find Ron whispering with Harry and Ginny. They immediately silenced when they noticed Hermione's presence. They all stared at her, waiting for her to leave.

"Okay, I get the hint," Hermione said as she walked up the stairs, into the girls' dormitory.

Hermione threw open Ginny's trunk to find a pair of Extendable Ears that Fred and George had given her.

"You can stop; we're done talking," a voice behind her said.

Hermione turned around, startled by the voice. Ginny was staring at her, grinning.

"C'mon, Ginny, you have to tell me what you were talking about," Hermione begged.

"We were talking about Quidditch," Ginny lied.

"Ginevra Molly Weasley, you know very well that you talking about Ron's date with me," Hermione said, demanding that she tell the truth.

Ginny blushed and answered, "Well, yes, but I'm not telling you anything."

"C'mon, Ginny, you have to."

"No," Ginny said plainly. "All I can tell you is that I have to figure out your outfit."

"Uh-oh," Hermione said nervously.

"Exactly," Ginny answered, grinning. "Now, sit on the bed, while I find you an outfit."

Hermione obediently moved to the bed and watched as Ginny searched through Hermione's trunk. Ginny looked disgusted by Hermione's wardrobe. She then moved to her own trunk and searched for an acceptable outfit.

After fifteen minutes or so, Ginny pulled out a white tube top and a black mini skirt.

"You don't expect me to wear that in public, do you?"

"No, I was only joking," Ginny said. "This is for me."

Ginny pulled out a red halter-top and black leather pants.

"I'm not going out looking like a slut!" Hermione yelled. "Where did you get these anyway?"

"When I went to Romania over the summer to visit Charlie-"

"Your brother let you buy these clothes?" Hermione interrupted.

"Of course not. However, he did let me buy new uniforms, and I just happened to buy these, too."

"How did no one notice?" Hermione asked curiously.

"Lucky for me," Ginny said, rummaging through her trunk. "I'm good at Transfiguration."

Lastly, Ginny pulled out a blue tank top that crisscrossed in the back, and a black, knee length skirt.

Hermione smiled and said, "I think this will do."

She quickly put on the outfit and looked in the mirror, she didn't even recognize herself. She looked like, a normal teenage girl, as opposed to an insufferable know-it-all.

Ginny dabbed a little bit of make-up on Hermione's face and gave her hair a few elegant curls.

"Ron will love it!" Ginny squealed. "And If he doesn't, I'll kill him and make it look like an accident*."

Hermione made to get her robe, but Ginny disagreed. "No robe, just go."

Hermione was about to argue, but merely turned and left. As she walked down the stairs to the common room, Hermione felt as though she was going to be sick. She had never been this nervous for her dates with Harry or Viktor. Was this a sign of true love? Or the sign of an unknown stomach virus?
