-Chapter One-

-When James Saw Lily-

Walking down Diagon Alley, a small boy with unruly black hair, big hazel eyes, horn-rimmed glasses and an armful of packages, spotted the most beautiful thing he'd ever seen.

It was a girl.

A beautiful girl.

This girl had pale, creamy skin, delicate features, soft freckles gently smattered on her cheeks and across her petite nose, full red lips, large, deep, emerald-green eyes and a mane of magnificent, long, shiny, auburn hair.

This is the first time that James Potter lay eyes on Lily Evans.

His heart stopped.
His jaw dropped.

He was in love.

Though he was only eleven at the time, James Potter knew he would marry that girl, or die trying.

He had to find out her name.

He wanted to know everything about her.

As the day went on, all James could think about was the beautiful girl he'd seen disappear into the Apothecary.

He couldn't wait to start school.

Hopefully, he would be in her house, in all her classes. Just...in her life!

The whistle on the Hogwarts Express pierced the cold air, telling everyone it was time to go.

James boarded the train after saying his good byes to his parents. He found himself an empty compartment and shoved his trunk in the rack.

He had one thing on his mind.

Find that girl.

James quickly changed into his school robes and left the compartment to go and look for the mysterious girl who had been haunting his thoughts for the past few days.

He walked along the train, dodging other students. He looked in every compartment he passed.

As he got to his tenth compartment, he was about to open the door when something hard knocked him over.

As he opened his eyes and blinked away the stars, he saw a face leaning very close to his.

'Are you alright, mate?' asked a boy, about his age.

The boy had longish, messy, dark brown hair (nearly black), big dark brown eyes and a look of amused concern on his handsome face.

'Yeah, I'm fine...' he mumbled as he got up.

'Good! I thought I'd knocked you out for a bit...sorry 'bout that. I didn't see you!'

'It's fine...'

'I'm Sirius Black. Pleased to meet you!' said the boy, offering his hand.

'James Potter,' said James, shaking the boy's hand.

'Come and meet a friend of mine...just met him myself...' said Sirius, leading James over to another boy of about their age.

This boy had short, neat light brown hair, a pale, well angled face, and hazel eyes.

'Remus Lupin, James Potter,' he introduced them. The two shook hands.

'Pleasure,' said Remus.

'Pleasure's all mine,' replied James, being polite to him as he seemed the sort to make a good first impression to.

'Right, now that all the niceties are out of the way... do you know where a compartment is, James? We've been having a bit of trouble finding one...'

'Sure. I've got one to myself...down here.' He lead them to it.

Sliding the door open, James lead his two new friends in.

'Thanks, mate,' said Sirius, shoving his trunk next to James'.

'Yes, thank you, James,' added Remus, as he gently put his trunk on the opposite rack.

'So... anyone up for a game of exploding snap?' Sirius asked.

'Er...no thanks. I've got to go and find -'

'Great! How about you, Remus?' cut in Sirius.

'Um...sure.'

So much for looking for his dream girl.

She probably didn't even have any cooties...
