- Hey! I was going to send 2 chapters, but what I thought I had changed in chapter 3 was still there, so I'll have to wait. Also, it's softball season at my high school, next week is standardized testing (yuck), and about a million other things, so updates might take a while. Enjoy!
A-Ok
“MEGAN!” Christ yelled, running into her friend’s house. Neither ever bothered with knocking anymore, they just ran right in.
“What?” Megan asked, coming out of her room.
“Know what?” Christ said.
“If that’s all you needed to say, I’ve got to go back to cleaning, Mom’s nearly frantic,” Megan said, turning around. “Apparently, there is family coming over next week, and she wants the house to be spotless. And it has to be done by hand, never mind the fact that Dad could clean it all in about five minutes with magic. By the way, I’m supposed to invite you, so you’re coming now. It’ll be really boring, though, just a bunch of relatives from all over. Apparently I have an aunt, uncle, and two cousins in England that have decided to come, for some reason. Mom wants their first impression of us to be…I don’t know, that we’re neat freaks or something.”
“Sure, I’ll come. Anyway, I can go to Hogwarts!” Christ exclaimed.
“Congratulations!” Megan said, but Christ didn’t miss the depressed tone of her voice.
“What I should have said is that we can go to Hogwarts,” Christ said.
“Really? Even though I’m a…well, you know,” Megan said, disbelieving.
“Yes. Now come on, we have to go ask your parents,” Christ said, dragging Megan into the kitchen.
“I heard what you said,” Mrs. Johnson said, not looking up from the stove she was cleaning. “And the answer is no. We just don’t have the money.”
Megan looked crestfallen. “What money?” Christ asked. “Staying at Hogwarts is free, and she’ll only need stuff that she’d need for school here, anyway. She can even stay with my aunt until we go.”
“No, and that’s final. Now, I heard you talking about the party?” Mrs. Johnson said. Christ knew right then that the subject was closed, at least for the time being.
Eventually, Christ did go home. She then had her mother fire call her aunt, telling her that she would be there in a little over a week, because she was going to a friend’s party.
“That will be fine,” her aunt had said. When her mother told her that Megan wouldn’t be going, she had replied that it was “too bad.”
The week sped by. Megan continued begging her parents right up until the point when her relatives got there. Then she had to stop, because her father’s parents had hated magic, and he didn’t know if his sister was the same way. Little did he know who his sister’s youngest daughter was. (A/N: I hope you know by now, however.)
When they got to the airport, the Johnson’s quickly found the gate. Soon, Mr. Johnson saw his sister. The families quickly walked towards each other.
“It’s good to see you again, Lucy,” Mr. Johnson said to his sister. They hugged.
“It’s been way too long,” Mrs. Evans said, pulling away. “This is my husband, Sean, and our daughters, Petunia and Lily.” Both girls politely said hello.
“Well, you’ve met Jean, and this is our daughter, Megan,” Mr. Johnson said.
“It’s nice to finally meet you,” Mrs. Johnson said. An uneasy silence fell. Mr. Evans said that they needed to get their luggage. It was quickly collected, and then the group moved to the car.
“Um, where do you go to school?” Megan asked Lily and Petunia, unsure of what to say.
“I go to a very elite private school,” Petunia said, with her nose in the air.
“I go to boarding school in Scotland,” Lily said. (A/N: Lily isn’t mentioning Hogwarts, magic, etc. because the Evans’s know that Mrs. Johnson is muggle, and don’t know if Megan is magical or not, or if they even know about magic. Megan isn’t mentioning it because she only knows that her father’s parents hated magic.)
“Really? So you have to go to different schools?” Megan asked curiously.
“Yes, and glad of it. I DO NOT want to go to school with those FREAKS!” Petunia exclaimed. Megan raised her eyebrows.
“They are NOT freaks, Petunia!” Lily cried.
“Girls!” Mrs. Evans turned around. “I will not have you fighting about THAT of all things.
“Sorry,” both apologized, neither looking like they meant it.
“So…who are some of your friends?” Megan asked, looking for a topic of conversation.
Petunia had tuned her out by that time, but Lily answered. “I’m pretty good friends with all the girls in my dorm, as well as most of the people from other houses. However, the boys in my house are another story. There is this one boy, named James Potter, who will NOT stop following me around! All he does is play pranks on people. Anyone he doesn’t like is fair game, although he is always playing them on me to try to get me to notice him. He drives me crazy!”
“Does he have a friend named Sirius?” Megan asked, knowing it would be too much of a coincidence if it wasn’t the same people Christ was going to go shopping with.
“Yeah, how did you know?” Lily asked, puzzled.
“One second,” Megan said, leaning forward. “MOM! Lily gets to go to Hogwarts, why don’t I?”
“Megan, the topic is closed. Wait a second,” Mrs. Johnson paused, realizing just what her daughter had said. “Lily’s a witch?” Mrs. Evans nodded.
“Well, that makes things easier,” Mrs. Johnson said. “Although you will all have to be careful when my relatives are here. None of them are magical. Remind Christ of that as well.”
“Yes, Mom,” Megan said, rolling her eyes.
The rest of the trip home, as well of the rest of the day, passed nicely, except for when Petunia stormed off, refusing to talk to anyone that she saw as a ‘freak.’
The next day, Megan was going to go get Christ. “May I come along?” Lily asked.
“Sure,” Megan said. They were about to leave when Mr. Johnson suggested Petunia go as well. Petunia didn’t want to, but went quietly when she caught a glare from her father.
“I don’t want to go if Megan can’t!” They heard a voice yell as they walked in the door.
“That is too bad. I’ve already told your Aunt Minerva that you’ll be there, the Potters are expecting you in a week, and your father told your Elizabeth that you would be coming,” they heard another voice yell back.
“He told Aunt Liz?” the first voice asked. “Just great. Now that idiot cousin of mine is going to be following me around.” The voice changed to one that Lily knew all too well. “How can you be friends with those filthy mudbloods? You realize that you are the worse kind of traitor? You shouldn’t be around all those blood traitors, little cousin. I can introduce you to the right sort.” The voice changed again. “I really don’t need that all year.”
“Christ, we’re here!” Megan said, deciding to speak up.
“Come on in!”
The three walked into the room. “These are my cousins, Lily and Petunia,” Megan said.
“Did you just here all of that?” Christ asked.
“Um, yeah, sorry,” Megan said.
“Where did you learn to do such good impersonations?” Petunia asked.
“Uh, well,” Christ trailed off.
She was saved from answering by Megan, telling her it was time to go. Christ quickly left the room, not in the mood to talk to her mother anymore. The other three quickly followed.
When they got to the house, Megan introduced Christ to Lily and Petunia’s parents. “This is my aunt, Lucy, and my uncle, Sean.”
“It’s nice to meet you, I’m Christ,” Christ said. She could have sworn the she heard Lily sigh in relief. I have a cousin named Lucy. Well, actually, that’s just what I call him. Very effective as far as shutting him up goes, of course, he’ll start cursing everything around him.” Remembering that the Evans’s weren’t supposed to know about magic, she added, “He could make a sailor turn red.”
“Oh, Christ? I forgot to tell you. Lily’s a witch, they know about magic,” Megan said, hiding a smile.
“Why didn’t you tell me that earlier?” Christ asked, glaring at Megan. Lily was strongly reminded of Lucius Malfoy, and she flinched. Christ saw that out of the corner of her eye. “What’s wrong?” She asked, glancing at the other girl.
“You just remind me of something, that’s all,” Lily said.
“Do you go to Hogwarts?” Christ asked. When Lily nodded, she continued, “Then I bet you were thinking of my idiot cousin, Lucy. What a shame.”
“I’m guessing by Lucy you mean Lucius Malfoy?” When Christ nodded, Lily continued. “Yeah, he’s in Slytherin. You do look a lot like him.”
Christ wrinkled her nose. “I’d rather not hear that. However, since you all know about magic, I can change.” She blinked, and her hair was black, although her eyes were still the same pale blue. She walked over to the mirror. She quickly made her hair reach just passed her shoulders. She turned around to stares from all of the Evans’s.
“What? I’m a metamorphagus,” Christ said shrugging.
“Don’t there have to be two anamagi in your parents generation for that to be possible?” Lily asked.
“Yeah, Mom, Aunt Minerva, Uncle Jason, and Aunt Liz are all anamagi. So, as a result, I’m a metamorphagus and a multimagi,” Christ explained. At that moment, however, she could explain no more because Megan’s other relatives started arriving.
At some point, Christ and Lily drifted off, talking. Christ mentioned that she was going back-to-school shopping with the Potters.
“Would you do me a favor?” Lily asked. When Christ nodded, she continued, “Please make them think your as Slytherin as possible. Just seeing that you look almost exactly like Malfoy should freak them out quite a bit, but just to be sure, dress in all black with silver jewelry and green nail polish and stuff.”
“Sure,” Christ, who was always up for a prank, grinned. “And, of course, act like all those idiots I call family.” To demonstrate, she walked around with a self-important strut, her nose in the air.
“Perfect!” Lily grinned.
All too soon, the party was over. Christ had to leave then because she was going to England the next morning. Actually, the Evans’s were leaving the next morning, too, but they were flying. Christ was using floo.
She arrived at her aunt’s house at 8:00. “It’s so good to see you,” her aunt said, helping her brush off her clothes. “I’ll take you to your room.” She summoned a house elf, who took all of Christ’s luggage. “This is it,” Aunt Minerva said eventually. Christ looked around. The room was huge! “Wow,” was about all that she could manage.
“When am I going to get school stuff?” she asked, tearing her eyes away from the room.
“Tomorrow,” her aunt answered. “Now, come down to supper, and then you can go to bed. You’ll need your rest to keep up with James Potter and Sirius Black tomorrow.”
Author notes: So, how was that?
Thanks to everyone who reviewed the last chapter.
Tari: You should have at least a little better picture of Christ after this chapter. As for the setting, I'm not really sure. The city that Christ and Megan are from hasn't really played in so far, but if it does, I'll let you know.
Again, thanks to those who reviewed!
