It's A Small World After All
Chapter 7:
Lily looked in her dorm to see if she had forgotten anything. It was the end of the year, and Lily couldn't believe it. The year went by so fast, and soon they'd be on their own. Lily shook her head in disbelief. She saw that everything was packed and walked out.
Sarah came running up to her, and said," Come on Lily, the graduation ceremony is going to happen, and you have to give your speech." Lily was then hurried out, and rushed into the Great Hall. Lily took her place next to James who winked at her.
Dumbledore stood," My dear graduates, it seems only yesterday that you entered this school, as first years, but now you shall be leaving to make your own way in the world. Now, I have the greatest honor of seeing you all become great witches and wizards. Enough of that, I now give the floor to Miss Lily Evans." Dumbledore stepped down and Lily walked up.
She smiled and began her speech," First off, I would like to thank Professor Dumbledore for all that he has done, and for putting up with us." A few chuckles were heard, Lily then took a deep breath and continued with her speech, "When I was a little girl, I had a really good friend; we would do everything together. My mother used to say we were like a pair of magnets. Then, I got my Hogwarts letter, and my friend became jealous that I was something that she wasn't, and now we are the worst of enemies. That friend was my sister; she became untrue to herself, and is now something that she isn't. The world is a very hard place to be, but if we are true to ourselves and others then everything will be okay." Lily stepped down, and a few were drying their eyes at Lily's story.
James walked up and said, "Wow that was a wonderful speech, and now for mine. Yes! We've done it!" James jumped down, and there was earsplitting applause. James looked at Lily, who just smiled.
When the diplomas were passed out, Lily and James walked hand-in-hand to their friends.
"That was bloody wonderful James," Sirius exclaimed. Sarah elbowed him. "Ow, that hurt," Sirius cried.
"Then watch your language," Sarah said. The others laughed at his expression. James looked at Lily, then whispered something in her ear. Her eyes widened. James smiled and pulled out a velvet box. Lily turned and looked at him. James opened the box, and pulled out the ring. It was an old ring, and the diamond winked up at Lily. James looked at her, and put the ring on her finger.
He then said," When my mother talked with me, she gave me her engagement ring to give to you. She said that she thought I would need it." James smiled at that then continued," I was really shocked; that ring means the world to her. But... well... I guess that's just how a mother works. So how about Lily, will you marry me?"
Lily looked at James, and there was so much love in his eyes. She looked down at the ring then back at him," Yes James, I'll marry you." James smiled and kissed her.
"Well, that was the most touching scene I have ever seen. When's the wedding? Oh, and I get to be the godfather of the baby," Sirius said. They all laughed, ready to start their lives.
