Confusion?

Chapter One

    It was a clear morning and Catharine was off to her very last day at Constance’s School of Magic. Her father got a job with the Ministry of Magic and they would have to move to London. Catharine loved Constance and was very disappointed that she had to leave; all four years of education in the magical world had been at Constance.     Constance was a quiet little school nestled upon a hilltop in a very small wizarding community just outside of Glasgow. There were only about one hundred and fifty students at Constance, but it was wonderful just the same. Catharine hated to admit it but, she was a little excited to be moving to a big city like London, and to be attending the famous school Hogwarts with Albus Dumbledore himself as the headmaster. She had also heard that Harry Potter the boy who lived had just won the Triwizard Tournament for Hogwarts!

    Once Catharine had arrived at Constance, she hurried to her first class, as she was a little late. As she entered, she noticed that her Defence Against the Dark Arts class was empty and there weren’t any lights on. Just then she heard a loud SNAP! Her entire fourth year class of thirty five students appeared before her and yelled "SURPRISE!" Catharine was so startled that she fainted!

    When she awoke she saw her best friend Melanie Mac Neil standing above her. Catharine was in the hospital wing.

    Catharine and Melanie had been best friends along with Vanessa Savoy since their first year at Constance. Catharine loved Melanie like a sister but she knew a huge secret about Melanie and her family that made her feel a little uneasy. Melanie interrupted Catharine’s train of thought.

"Are you feeling any better?" she asked.

Catharine replied that she was feeling better but, she was more than a little embarrassed.

"We were trying to throw you a surprise party, you certainly were surprised!” giggled Melanie. "But since you’re feeling better we should be off to the end of the year feast!"

    Every year at Constance there was a huge feast where exam marks were given back and the girl and boy with the top marks in each year were given an award of twenty nine Galleons! Catharine really wanted to get it this year she studied really hard. After the feast, school was out for the summer. Almost every student lived locally with their families year round, only about two dozen lived at Constance for a small fee.

    Catharine didn’t want to leave her family to go to school. Sadly even when she does leave she will still have her bratty little brother Kent around. In fact she’ll probably see him more often since he will be starting school this fall. The funny thing is that he didn’t receive an acceptance letter from Constance. At first the family was worried that he was a squib, but luckily he received a letter from Hogwarts before they knew they were moving! Albus Dumbledore must know everything.

    When Catharine and Melanie arrived at the dining hall they were greeted by Vanessa and Catharine’s boyfriend Robert Dungbottom. He was extremely cute in his Constance uniform of grey twill pants, light blue cotton shirt with the school crest on the right chest pocket, navy blue tie and navy robes. He fancied the skater look and with his dark blonde hair mussed under his lucky yellow Wimbourne Wasps cap made him irresistible.

    "Attention, Attention would everyone please take their seat, the feast is about to begin." announced Professor Digbit the Headmaster.

Catharine sat down, between Vanessa and Robert.

    "Good evening pupils, Professors and faculty. The year is almost complete and I would like to..."

Just then an owl came screeching and swooping in an open window and dropped a letter in front of Melanie. Embarrassed, she glanced at the letter delivered to her. On the envelope it said in bold red letters URGENT, DO NOT OPEN IN FRONT OF ANYONE BUT OPEN IMMEDIATELY!!!

"What is it Ms. Mac Neil?" asked Digbit.

Melanie knew exactly what it was but she couldn’t let anyone know.

She replied "I, I, I, don’t know b-b-b-but I have to go home NOW!"

Digbit gave her a suspicious look but then excused her. Catharine gave Melanie a look that said "send me an owl as soon as you get home!" Then Melanie ran out of the dining hall as if You-Know-Who was after her. Catharine had no idea how true that was.
