Switching Evil

"It's not about knowing how you'll end up in the future. It's about knowing, that if there was no tomorrow, you'd be perfectly happy with today."

~Ashley LeeAnn Fredrick

"You mean..." she couldn't finish her sentence.

"I would follow...Tom's path, and he would follow mine," Draco spoke, his voice still smooth as silk.

"But, wouldn't you just find yourself back in this same situation?" she asked, regaining her senses.

"Glad you can speak full sentences again," Tom said. "You see, Ginny, I asked Draco Malfoy here, he didn't come on his own accord."

"So, Malfoy would follow your path, and you would make up his?" she asked trying to connect the dots.

"To put it simply," Malfoy said. "Yes."

"But, if Draco is going in the past...what about his father?"

"Everything would be the same, except we would switch places," Tom pointed out.

"But, I think that Lucius would notice if his son suddenly had black hair and green eyes," Ginny said tucking herself farther up into the chair, away from Draco's grasp.

The two men smirked, looking at each other. "We thought about that," Malfoy said, turning back to Ginny. "We would simply switch...."

Ginny cut him off. "You can't do that!"

"It would put history in the same place, it would simply make our looks more...well, we can't go about looking the exact opposite of our parents."

"So you're going to change your mother's places?" Ginny asked. Of course, she realized their theory was still quite solid. Draco would become the son of a witch and a muggle, and Tom would be pureblood; simple as that.

"She understands," Tom spoke up, reading Ginny's mind.

"What I don't understand is how I can help," Ginny said realizing how complex this whole situation is.

"You, actually, Ginny, are the key," Tom said.

"You see," Draco said, standing up and sitting back down in his chair. "In order for us to change positions we have to make sure that I, or Tom, won't come down the same path."

Ginny had to laugh. "That you'll...not be evil? But, Malfoy, that's just not you. Number one, how am I supposed to prevent Tom from ending up back here? And number two, why would you want to switch positions anyway? Tom, you were evil your whole life, plotting against everyone; you would be the last one I would suspect to change their path all of a sudden."

"Because, Ginerva," Draco spat a bit harshly. "I will become the Dark Lord. I will be able to destroy Harry Potter because I will know how."

"Why would I help you do that? That would leave the wizarding world with no miracle, no chance of escaping darkness; the future would be nothing but evil!"

"Here's where you come in, Ginny," Tom said.

"We want you to help us control the wizarding world," Draco said.

"What?!"

"You see, you'll be born the exact same. But, you won't end up the same. We know, Ginny, that there's such a promise to you. A part of your blood that wishes for evil, for darkness. Tom assures me of that, and I know it's true."

"You're insane, Malfoy," Ginny said. "If you think that by changing the future...."

"Ginny," Tom said kneeling in front of her, in the same position Draco had been in earlier. "I will be only one year older then you, do you realize?"

Ginny's eyes widened at the thought. He knew. Tom Riddle knew that Ginny had fallen in love with him in the chamber. He knew that she fell asleep every night with him in her head. He knew, and he intended to use that to change her future...everyone's future.
