Author's Note:
This was written for the wonderful people who sail the S.S. Bludger and Quaffle. Fred and Angelina forever!

Angelina Johnson burst into the Gryffindor common room, furious and bent on revenge. The tall pretty Chaser's eyes wandered around the room, searching for a certain person.

"Fred Weasley!" she roared. "You are in so much trouble!"

Everyone in the room swivelled their heads towards the twin in question.

Fred lifted his head from where he was conspiring with his twin George and smiled brightly at the enraged Angelina.

"Yes, my pet?" he said sweetly.

"Don't my pet me!" Angelina shouted. "You were supposed to meet me on the Quidditch Pitch an hour ago!"

Somewhere in the room someone said, "Oooooohhhh!"

Fred did his best to look surprised. "Why, Angie, my sweet, my watch must have stopped! I had no idea I was so late."

But Angelina was not appeased. "Forget it, Fred! This is the third time you've stood me up! Don't speak to me again unless you're ready to commit to a relationship!"

She stormed up the stairs to her room, grabbed her broomstick and marched out to the pitch. She flew around in circles for a while, releasing pent up anger. She was sick of being stood up for a joke shop! She liked Fred a lot, he was sweet, funny, and fun to be with. But ever since he came up with the joke shop idea in sixth year, he was preoccupied. She thought back to a conversation she had with her fellow Chasers right after the first time Fred stood her up, a few months back.

She was sitting up in her dormitory with Alicia and Katie, cursing the name Weasley.

"I don't understand it!" she cried. "Why won't he spend time with me anymore?"

Alicia and Katie exchanged a glance. "Well, he and George are busy with the joke shop. Graduation isn't that far off and they want to get started right away," Katie said kindly.

Alicia slung an arm over her friend's shoulders. "Come on, Ange, you know that's the reason George and I broke up. He just didn't have time for me anymore and I wanted a boyfriend who wasn't liable to use me as a guinea pig for one of his experiments. To be quite honest, no one expected you and Fred to last this long."

"She even had a bet going," Katie quipped.

Angelina started at her friend in disbelief. "You were betting that Fred and I would break up before graduation?"

Alicia shrugged. "It didn't seem like a sure thing. I'm sorry, Ange, but Fred is, well, Fred. Fun and funny, but never serious. You couldn't survive in a relationship that was nothing but jokes. Besides, it seems that his practical jokes mean more to him than you."

Anger surged anew as Angelina thought about that conversation. She thought that she and Fred had something, but apparently they didn't.

A lone figure with a broomstick walked out onto the pitch. He climbed aboard and rose into the air. It was Fred. He was holding the Quaffle and wordlessly he threw it to her. She, of course, caught it and threw it back.

They continued to toss the Quaffle back and forth without a word between them. Finally Angelina broke the silence.

"I'm worried, Fred," she said candidly. "We want different things. Graduation is almost here, and I'm afraid that once we leave these halls, we won't be together. I want to join the Montrose Magpies and you have your shop. I care about you and I thought you cared about me."

"Who says I don't?" Fred asked.

"People," she said shortly. "What am I to you, Fred? Just a person who will be here for you when ever you feel like having a girlfriend? Because I want more than that. I deserve more than that...and so do you."

"We have fun together, Angie, that's what matters. Who cares what other people say?"

"You and I haven't spent much time together lately, and I--"

Fred interrupted. "We see each other at every Quidditch practice."

"And that's it!" Angelina exclaimed. "It seems like all we have is Quidditch!"

Fred was very quiet for a while. When he spoke, he wasn't looking at Angelina.

"In Quidditch, Bludgers are always trying to knock people off their stride, right? Zooming around, never coming in contact with one another, simply trying to cause as much trouble as they possibly can."

Angelina frowned. "Are you saying we're like Bludgers?"

"No, you didn't let me finish. It's the Beaters' job to stop them from destroying everything. Protection and defense, that's what a Beater is. We Beaters are trying to stop the Bludgers from hurting others."

Curious to see where he was going with this, Angelina pointed out, "But I'm a Chaser."

Fred smiled. "Exactly, my love. See, while you're off chasing your goals, I'll be right beside you making sure that nothing gets in your way. I'm the Beater to your Chaser. Knocking those nasty Bludgers out of your way."

Angelina's icy demeanor promptly melted. "You mean it? Even though we have different priorities?"

"Not completely different," Fred replied. "Just in different places, and that doesn't mean we're growing apart. Hey, fly down to the other end of the pitch."

Angelina did as he asked. Once she got down there she waited for whatever it was he was planning.

"Oi! Angelina!" Fred called.

"What?" she called back.

"Want to come to Hogsmeade with me?" he shouted.

Angelina looked him up and down, appraising him with a smile. "Alright then." Suddenly she grinned. "Catch me if you can, Fred Weasley!"

Laughing and shouting things to one another, the two of them sped around the pitch, looking for all the world like immature first years.

Up in the Gryffindor Tower, Seventh Year girl's dormitory, from where they had been watching Fred and Angelina, Alicia Spinnet turned to her friends with her mouth hanging open.

"I don't believe it! I thought they were through for sure!"

Katie Bell erupted into giggles and Lee Jordan held out his hand.

"Pay up, Alicia, you lost the bet." Alicia reluctantly handed over five galleons. Lee tsked. "You ought to have more faith in your friends."

Alicia turned to George who was still watching the two zoom around.

"I don't understand, George. How did he do it?"

George winked at her and tapped his head knowingly. "Quidditch analogies, my dear. Works every time."
