Author's Note:
I did this when i was bored and i found it amusing. I've already done the second chapter. This one may be a bit silly at times, but the second one is more serious (ish).

Hermione frowned slightly as she watched the giant squid do summersaults in the lake. It was weird, everyone in Hogwarts were acting weird, cheery in fact.

And here she was on a hot day, considering it was September, sitting under a big tree, worrying about people being happy? Was she mad? No, people just seemed too cheery.

Hermione threw a twig in the lake, watching the ripples go purple and gradually getting bigger.

"Hey there, 'Ermione," came a voice from behind her.

Hermione half expected to see Hagrid, but it was just Ron, his mouth full of chocolate eggs.

"Hi Ron," Hermione sighed. "Where's Harry?"

"With Cho, where else? Since them two have been dating they haven't been able to stay away from each other," Ron said, smiling.

"That's a good thing?" Hermione asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Yeah, means we get to bond more," Ron grinned.

"Oh goody," Hermione said sarcastically.

"What's wrong?" Ron asked, sitting beside her.

"Have you-" Hermione began, but wondered how to say it she could hardly ask him why everyone was so cheery, he'd tell her she was depressed. Which could be a true statement, since she found out she had feelings for Draco Malfoy.

It had all began a month ago, Harry had started seeing Cho, Hermione thought she was probably jealous, but she wasn't jealous, she was in love, with Draco.

Why? Hermione asked herself, why him? Well that was a simple answer he was cute, nothing more.

He wasn't kind, considerate, polite, and decent, he was only good looking.

But then again he also had a big bad boy act, which made Hermione like him more.

"Well," Hermione said. "Have you noticed that well people have been acting weird lately?"

Ron stuffed another chocolate frog in his mouth. "Well, I suppose, but that's only because it's warm right? I mean heat gets to peoples minds, besides it's unusual for the weather to be warm at this time of the year, people are just excited."

"Suppose," Hermione mumbled.

Hermione watched as Draco walked past, with Pansy Parkinson at his heels. Hermione sighed and felt as though her heart had froze and dropped.

"Hermione?" Ron asked. "What's-" he began, but she interrupted.

Hermione stood up and broke into song.

"Last night I took a walk in the snow

Couples holding hands, places to go

Seems like everyone but me is in love

Santa can you hear me

I signed my letter that's sealed with a kiss

I sent it off, and just said this

I know exactly what I want this year

Santa can you hear me

I want my baby, baby

I want someone to love me

And someone to hold

Maybe, maybe (maybe, maybe)

We'll be all alone under the mistletoe."

Ron pulled a face, "Yeah," he said slowly. "Heat is getting to your head too."

"I didn't mean to do that!" Hermione said. "Something odd is going on."

Ron raised an eyebrow.

"Ron!" Hermione shouted. "You've got to believe me, besides I never sing- apart from in the shower but lets not talk about that right now."

Ron sniggered. "You were singing about Santa and it's September."

"That's not the point, I was singing about me being lonely," Hermione pouted.

"I thought that wasn't you singing," Ron smirked.

Hermione glared at him. "Ron the point is, something odd is going on and I don't think I'm the only one who's getting affected by it, at least come to the library with me."

Ron rolled his eyes, "Do I have a choice?" and followed her.

Draco sighed and watched Hermione walk off.

"Draco," Pansy said smiling. "I'm so glad you choice me to be your girlfriend."

Draco frowned. "You see Pansy, I didn't choice you. You're not my girlfriend. I don't love you. I never have. I never will."

"What?" Pansy stuttered. "But-"

Draco shook his head and started walking, Pansy trotting behind him, like a dog.

Draco turned around to face Pansy and smiled slightly.

"I was her she was me

We were one we were free

And if there's somebody calling me on

She's the one

If there's somebody calling me on

She's the one,

We were young we were wrong

We were fine all along

If there's somebody calling me on

She's the one

When you get to where you wanna go

And you know the things you wanna know

You're smiling

When you said what you wanna say

And you know the way you wanna play

You'll be so high you'll be flying,

Though the sea will be strong

I know we'll carry on

'Cos if there's somebody calling me on

She's the one

If there's somebody calling me on

She's the one"

Draco sang softly and pointed to Hermione, Pansy's eyes widened.

"You love Hermione Granger?" Pansy asked, not believing what she was hearing.

"Yes, I mean no, I mean I don't know," Draco said running his fingers through his silvery blonde hair.

"You jerk!" Pansy said, stamping on Draco's foot. "You told me you loved me!"

Pansy's eyes began to well up with tears.

"No I didn't," Draco said, sticking his hands in his pockets. Pansy began howling, tears splashing down the front of her robes. Draco rolled his eyes.

"I loved you," Pansy sniffled. "I still do, but I can't keep being you're lap dog, you can't keep using me Draco!"

Draco muttered. "Damn," under his breath and smirked. And apparently Pansy had heard.

"I'm warning you Draco Malfoy," Pansy said whimpering. "You decide now, you either tell me you love me and promise not to use me or you tell me you loved Mudblood and I'll just walk away."

"I love," Draco mumbled. "I love Hermione, I think."

"Oh Draco!" Pansy sobbed. "Why? I'm better looking than her any day!"

"Well maybe she has something else other than looks!" Draco snapped.

"Like what?" Pansy spat.

"Like," Draco hesitated. "Like brains! Something you don't have or something you don't use!"

Pansy burst out crying and ran off.

Draco watched her run like a Barbie and sniggered slightly.

A few hours later Pansy unlocked the door of the girl's bathroom and looked in the mirror.

Her face was red from where she had been crying and a fresh tear sprung from her eye and ran down her cheek.

Pansy sighed and thought of Draco, her eyes welling up with tears again, she swept them away furiously, and then smiled softly.

"Guess mine is not the first heart broken

My eyes are not the first to cry

I'm not the first to know there's

Just no getting over you

You know I'm just a fool who's willing

to sit around and wait for you

But baby can't you see there's nothing else for me to do

I'm hopelessly devoted to you

But now there's no where to hide

Since you pushed my love aside

I'm out of my head hopelessly devoted to you

Hopelessly devoted to you

Hopelessly devoted to you

My head is saying fool forget him

my heart is saying don't let go

Hold on to the end that's what I intend to do

I'm hopelessly devoted to you

But now there's no where to hide

Since you pushed my love aside

I'm out of my head hopelessly devoted to you

Hopelessly devoted to you

Hopelessly devoted to you."

Pansy sighed and went back into the cubicle, feeling more tears coming.

Hermione shook her head, "There's nothing about this kind of thing at all."

Ron shrugged. "Unless they have a book called, "Weird singing for no reason" than I doubt we're in luck."

Hermione sighed. "I guess you're right, come on lets go find Harry."

"He's probably smooching Cho in the Transfiguration class again," Ron said.

Hermione raised an eyebrow.

"I caught them doing that, once, or twice," Ron said, not looking at all bothered.

"Err horrible images, gross," Hermione said.

"I can think of worse images, like Snape kissing Flitwick," Ron said grinning.

Hermione looked at Ron, her eyes wide. "Never ever mention that in front of me ever again, I'll have nightmares for months!"

Ron grinned. "What about the time we caught Snape and Sprout at it in-"

"Shut up Ron!" Hermione said, walking out the library.

As Hermione and Ron walked down the corridors they noticed disturbing things, such as Madam Hooch dancing with a broomstick whilst singing, "Dancing in the moonlight" and Neville longbottom kissing Trevor the toad and singing, "I wanna be loved by you."

Then Professor McGonagall ran past them wearing a corset, suspenders and matching knickers, with Albus Dumbledore running after her shouting, "Wait up snuggle bunny!"

Ron's eye widened. "Now that was extremely disturbing."

Hermione nodded and continued walking at a faster pace.

They finally spotted Cho and Harry; they were outside sat on a bench.

"Duck!" Hermione hissed.

Ron quickly ducked.

"No!" Hermione hissed, pointing to a duck waddling past them.

The duck stopped and looked at them with its beady eyes and then continued waddling along.

Hermione watched it suspiciously, this duck was a yellowy blonde and its beady eyes were blue, it kind of reminded her of someone..

Hermione knelt down and watched Cho and Harry, who were deep in conversation.

"Cho," Harry said stroking her hair. "What do you think the future will hold?"

"I don't know Harry," Cho sighed. "Fate is fate, no one can control it, not even you-know-who."

"Voldemort," Harry said.

Cho gasped, "Harry, saying his name is bad, he could come back to power and he could kill us."

Harry snorted. "He could try, again." Then looked at Cho's expression. "You see, Cho, A wise man once told me that fearing saying a name is causing fear itself."

Cho looked at Harry, "You're so brave Harry Potter," and rested her head on his chest.

Ron sniggered slightly. "Look at them two lovebirds."

Hermione, however, sighed.

"What's wrong?" Ron asked.

"I can see what's happening," Hermione sang.

"What?" Ron asked.

"And they don't have a clue," Hermione continued singing.

"Who?" Ron asked.

"There'll fall in love and here's the bottom line, our trio's down to two," Hermione sang.

"Oh," Ron said, though slightly confused.

"The sweet caress of twilight there's magic in the air and with all this, romantic atmosphere, disasters in the air," Hermione sang, looking at the two then back at Ron.

Hermione hook Ron's hands into hers. "Can't you feel the love tonight? The peace the evening brings, the world for once in perfect harmony with all its living things."

Ron pulled a face. "Something really is wrong with Hogwarts."

Harry suddenly felt the urge to sing. "So many things to tell her, but how to make her see, the truth about my past? Impossible! She'd turn away from me!" he sang, looking at Cho.

Cho looked away. "He's holding back, he's hiding. But why I can't decide why won't he be the boy I know he is the boy I see inside," she sang.

"Can't you feel the love tonight? You needn't look too far, stealing through the nights uncertainties, love is where we are," Cho and Harry both sang, holding hands.

Ron and Hermione both frowned, watching the couple.

"And if he falls in love tonight, it can be assumed. His carefree days with us are history, in short, our pal is doomed," Ron sang.

The two watched the couple a bit longer until a voice spoke.

"Why you spying on Potty and Cho?" Draco asked, sitting beside them.

Hermione raised an eyebrow. "Why do you care?"

"Well," Draco hesitated. "I can't help but feel that something odd is going on in Hogwarts."

"No shit Sherlock," Ron muttered.

"You noticed that too? Who do you thinks doing it?" Hermione asked.

"Well, its definitely not Voldemort, who do we all know who wears pink clothes and would probably come up with a barmy idea like this?" Draco asked.

"Snape!" Ron gasped.

"What?" Draco asked, confused.

"Have you seen what he wears for bed?" Ron sniggered. "Pink Pyjamas with little fluffy bunnies on!"

"No, not Snape, someone far loonier," Draco said.

"Gilderoy Lockhart!" Ron and Hermione both gasped.
