Draco was standing in the middle of an earthquake. All around him the buildings of Diagon Alley crumbled, it wasn't a Death Eater attack as there was no one around. He was actually the only person left there, or so it seemed, as there was no one around. The earthquake was completely levelling every building, no one could have survived anything like that. Draco hated the idea of being alone, but everyone seemed to push him that way, he felt forced to be alone. His father never truly cared for him and now he was trying to avoid people he didn't like. Well he would if there had been people around him right now.

"Draco," he heard a voice call him.

He looked around, but couldn't see anyone.

"Draco," the voice told him again, "wake up."

"Wake up?" he said, realising what was going on.

He opened his eyes with a start, his head firmly resting on his arms as he remembered falling asleep at the café in Diagon Alley. The table he rested on was cold and hard, his arms ached as he slowly sat up. Sleep had left his vision blurred as he looked around to see who had woken him up. As he looked up, he found himself partially blinded by the lightness and partially the sleep that he had just awoken from, but he could still see a tall lanky figure stood over him.

"What are you doing sleeping out here alone, where are the others?" the tall figure asked, the voice was male and vaguely familiar.

Draco yawned, "They don't like me," he replied. "They're all Gryffindors, except Blaise but he's never liked me anyway. Who'd like a bloody ex-Slytherin?"

"Oh come on Draco, you and I both know that's bollocks," the tall figure then told him. He went and sat down opposite Draco before adding, "And your first cousin once removed is still proud of you for doing the same thing he did, only you're younger then he was at the time."

"Sirius doesn't like me because I'm still a Malfoy, Steve," he reminded him.

"Shh! Not so loud," Steve warned him, "don't want anyone to listen in."

Draco just lazily shrugged as the door to the café opened and an 'Open' sign magically appeared in the window. However Diagon Alley was still relatively quiet, as it was very early only a few Witches and Wizards were about.

"Well, I think we have to talk," Steve then told him and stood up, "but first I will go inside and order our breakfasts."

As he watched him go inside the café, Draco knew he could have got up and walked away right then but for some reason he didn't. Soon Steve had returned and by the time he sat down, their breakfast appeared in front of them.

"I would think that you are more Black then Malfoy," the footballer said, "Malfoys are all about loyalty and rules, despite you looking like your father Lucius I very much see Sirius in you."

Draco was taken aback by that comment, as he was about to dig into the omelette that made up his breakfast. There was also a cup of coffee as well, but he knew that would be the cheap stuff and not the nice expensive stuff his father always preferred to buy. The teenage wizard shook his head to get that thought out of his mind.

"Are you all right Draco?" Steve asked.

"I'm fine, just wanted to stop thinking about something," he replied.

"Your father?"

Draco just nodded as he took his first mouthful of omelette.

"Hmm, I guess I wouldn't really know how you feel," Steve said sipping his coffee. "My family always let me become what I wanted when I grew up, my father didn't push me into following his footsteps."

"Jonas Corin Flack, Head of the Department of Odd Occurrences," Draco remarked.

Steve leaned back in the chair and laughed. "Not the most glamorous of jobs I must admit," he said shaking his head. "Still pays more then what I did after I left Hogwarts. Quidditch player, boxer and footballer."

Draco screwed his face up in disgust. "Boxing? How barbaric and degrading," he remarked, not caring about what Steve would say.

"Well coming from your family I'm not surprised at that reaction," he smirked.

The young ex-Slytherin sighed. As much as he hated Headmaster Dumbledore and disliked most of the staff, he already missed Hogwarts and thinking about whether or not he could go to another wizarding school was depressing. "Well, this isn't want you were wanting to talk about, what is it that you really wanted to talk about," Draco demanded, glaring at the older wizard.

"You know full well what I wanted to talk to you about," he told him as he leaned forward, "if you are going to continue going off like you did yesterday, then I don't see the others keeping you around."

Draco leaned back in the chair and crossed his arms. "Your point being?" he asked.

"That no one would be looking after you and it would be easy for your father to kill you," Steve pointed out.

That wasn't a good think, Draco thought. He knew after the incident in Exeter that his father would want to harm him somehow. Death was of course the most likely harm that his father would inflict on him, after a couple of bouts of Crucio of course. There was no way that he was going to go near his father to allow for that to happen, as shitty as he felt now, his life meant a lot to him. Nothing he did now could change his fathers opinion of him, not that he cared of course. Or did he?

"Wait a minute, you're trying to get me to get me to end up fighting my own father," he suddenly realised.

Steve just shrugged his shoulders. "Who knows in the end you may just have to do that," he warned him.

Draco shuddered. He didn't particuly look forward to the possibility of duelling with his own father. He knew who usually won these things, the father, so he had little hope of coming out of such a confrontation alive.

"So this is where you got to," came Remus Lupins voice.

The pair looked up to see the ex-DADA professor standing beside their table, he was glaring with displeasure at Draco. His robes were their usual shabby and badly patched selves, which made the blond boy sneer in disgust.

"The others have been wondering where you were," Remus told him.

"Not bloody likely," Draco scowled.

Steve looked down at the watch he had one his arm. "Well I must go now, don't want to be late for training," he said before taking off.

Draco sighed with relief. 'One down one to go,' he thought to himself. He looked up at Remus who didn't look pleased. The young boy didn't think that werewolves could read minds.

"Come on, the others are waiting for us at Gringotts," the werewolf told him.

Harry yawned as he put his feet up on the coffee table in one of Malfoy Manor's many rooms. He wasn't sure which room it was, but it was next to his, formerly Draco's, bedroom so he guessed that it was his study considering the desk by the window. Lucius hadn't told him any differently, not that he told Harry much about the house anyway. However Lucius had his expulsion from Hogwarts overturned and so he would be going back there on 1st September, though he did feel guilty that Ron and Colin weren't.

"Harry, I think I have Duo," a voice, with a distinct German accent told him.

Harry then looked around to the desk, where another dark haired boy was crouched on the chair. After a moments look, he couldn't help but laugh. "Kurt, that is just Heero with Duo's hair style," he smirked.

Kurt just stuck his tongue out before tapping at something on his left arm.

"And I was told blue elves had decent manners," came Lucius Malfoy's unmistakable drawling voice. "Harry it is time to get your new stuff for school, the owl brought your school list in this morning." He then eyed up Kurt. "Will your friend be joining us?"

Harry's eyes flicked from Lucius to Kurt. "It's Diagon Alley," he told him, "you might like it there."

"Sure," Kurt replied.

Lucius sternly looked at the pair of them, muttering something under his breath. To Harry it sounded like something along the lines of mudbloods and Germans, but he would ignore it. It would be safer for him to.

"I will meet you in five minutes outside the front door," Lucius then told them, "and Harry, you will be on your best behaviour or there will be trouble. I am meeting some very important people in Diagon Alley, I would also prefer that your friend does not dress like a Muggle." The tall blonde man's eyes looked up and down Kurt, looking at what he was wearing. "Better lend him your school robes."

As Lucius left the room, Harry wondered about the lack of threatening to use the Imperius Curse on both of them. He had always thought that the Malfoys would use the curse every time it suited their needs.

"Vell, vhat do I wear?" Kurt asked.

"Wizard robes, like I'm wearing now only they're for school," Harry replied.

Outside, a little under five minutes later they found Lucius stood beside a horse-drawn carriage. The horses weren't seen however as they were invisible, much like the carriages at Hogwarts.

"Whoa," Kurt said in surprise, looking at the magnificent carriage, "but vhere are the horses?"

Harry laughed. "They're invisible Kurt," he explained.

"Oh, cool," his friend replied.

As they climbed aboard the carriage Lucius sneered at Kurt, although neither noticed it.

Flourish & Blotts.

Draco yawned. He didn't know why Remus had dragged him out while they helped Hermione and Dennis get their new school gear. Right now, they were getting their new schoolbooks, he didn't want to know what he was going to miss out on and so he tried to avoid seeing what was bought. Toward Dennis, he disliked the way that the second year student wouldn't have to put up with Gilderoy Lockhart like he had in his second year.

"Draco, come here," Remus called out to him.

Draco sneered before walking over to where the others were.

"Here make yourself useful," Remus said passing him an armful of books.

The blond teenager just folded his arms and pouted. "I am not a house-elf," he protested.

Remus had none of it and thrust the books into Draco's chest. "Do it," he growled, it sounded almost inhuman. "Or I will get you the job of being Filches assistant."

He screwed his face up in disgust as he took the books from him. The top book showed the picture of an aging witch that appeared to be laughing at him, no doubt about the way he felt like he was being treated like a house-elf. "Stupid book," he scowled and the witch stuck her tongue out at him. Looking at where he was now, Draco wondered if it had been smart to argue with his father and storming out of Malfoy Manor.

"The great Draco Malfoy, reduced to the chores of a common house-elf," he heard someone comment.

Draco mumbled a curse as he turned around to find Harry stood behind him. "What do you want," he scowled.

"Your head adorning the walls of the hunting room would go down nicely," he smirked at him. His hair appeared to be as messy as ever, evidently not even a magical haircut could prevent that.

"Cut the act, Potter," the blond teen replied.

"What act?" Harry said with complete calmness.

"Harry!" Hermione screamed with delight, which for her was totally out of character. Then again, she had not seen him since before Draco had turned up at The Burrow.

"Hermione," he said with the same calmness as before.

"Where have you been," she demanded, "Ron told me you were captured by Death Eaters."

"Oh I've been around," the raven-haired teen drawled. "Had lots of fun and..." but he stopped as he had noticed something about Hermione. "Have you cut your hair? It looks really short."

Hermione had in fact cut her hair, it was now much shorter then she used to have it. Now it only went two inches below her ears and was almost straight, it still retained some of its natural bushiness. "Yes I have." She smiled.

"Still doing S.P.E.W. by the looks of your current house-elf," Harry said smirking at Draco.

The blonde teen scowled at the remark.

"Now, now Harry, play nice," came Lucius' voice as he tapped him on the shoulder with his cane. "So you are reduced to the role meant for a house-elf, I know those books cannot be for yourself."

"How would you know?" Draco said, almost growling, as he was angry with his father being here.

"Oh you know how I know," his father drawled, noticing that Remus had walked up to see what was going on. "Remus Lupin, I see that they let just about any filth into Diagon Alley these days. Getting to be a bit like Hogwarts, I begin to wonder if that crackpot Dumbledore is influencing the place."

"Not a very nice thought," Harry remarked to the shock and disappointment of Remus.

"Quite right, Harry," Lucius agreed. "I shudder to think what The Ministry would be like if he was in charge." The level of disgust on his face was very evident.

Remus knew about Fudge's secret and disagreed. "If Dumbledore hadn't turned down the offer of being Minister of Magic then people like you would be where you belong instead of buying your way out of everything," the werewolf told him.

Lucius sneered at him before moving on, he didn't see the need to stand around belittling lower beings. As Harry went to follow him, Remus grabbed by the arm and asked, "What are you doing with him?"

"None of your business," he spat at him.

"Look Harry, Dumbledore asked me to make sure all five of you are safe and being with Lucius is not safe for you especially," Remus warned him.

Harry shook off the hand and pushed it away. As Remus was about to grab him again, someone else stopped him. It wasn't Lucius as he was at the other end of the bookshop going through some books.

"I vould not do that if I vere you," Kurt told him.

Remus removed his hand and let Harry join Lucius at the other end of the bookshop. As much as he hated the idea of letting Harry go, it seemed that he had absolutely no choice in it.

"Why did you let him go?" Hermione demanded.

Remus said nothing, instead he took the books from Draco and walked off as the Creevey brothers came down the stairs. Colin, who was holding his brother's books, looked a little happier then he had. They had paid for the books and left, Hermione was glad that they hadn't seen Harry or they would have proberly made a huge scene. She looked over at Harry and his newfound company and wondered what was different. He was immune to the Imperius Curse, wasn't he?

"Come on Hermione," suddenly came Remus' voice. "I've paid for the books, let's leave now."

She didn't protest, especially as she knew that Ron was waiting for them. He had refused to step inside Flourish & Blotts, stating that as he wasn't going to Hogwarts there wasn't really any need for him too. Blaise also didn't come, as he seemed to have gone off into his own little world.

Harry watched them leave out of the corner of his eye. He was thankful that they had, as he felt very awkward around them. Fortunately it wasn't as bad as he had Kurt with him and so he wasn't alone with Lucius Malfoy.

"They're gone," he sighed.

Lucius now seemed to be arguing with the storeowner so he wouldn't notice anything.

"Das ist good, right?" Kurt asked looking over his shoulder.

Harry just shrugged. A grin then crept across his face. "Now that we've finished my school shopping, what do you think about taunting Malfoy again," he asked.

"Could be interesting," the German teen replied, "he looks like he ist on the verge of cracking."

"We are not finished yet," came Lucius' drawl.

Harry was disappointed, as that had scuppered his plans. He had looked forward to further tormenting Draco. He looked around and saw that Lucius was now stood behind Kurt.

"As I mentioned to you back at the manor, we are meeting some highly important people plus Mr Ollivander," he told him. "Now come along, I do not wish to be late."

Kurt looked over at Harry who just shrugged at him before following Lucius out of the bookshop.

"Vizards," he sighed as he followed them.

~~~~~*~~~~~
"Remus, calm down," Sirius told his friend. "You have been fidgeting and pacing around the room ever since you returned from the school shopping."
Remus stopped walking and placed his head in his hands. "It is not good, it is not good," he said twice out of frustration. "Young Draco was right, Harry does appear to have joined up with Lucius Malfoy. He acts like he's under the Imperius curse, but I thought he was immune to that."
Sirius shook his head. "Not when his mind is in the state that it is in, even Professor Dumbledore will tell you that," he glumly replied. Sirius of course knew all about poor states of mind as he was still affected by the horrors of Azkaban and the Dementors that guarded the prison. "Especially not with Cedric's death and being expelled hanging over him."
The ex-DADA professor sighed as he finally sat down to Sirius' relief. "And I doubt that German kid that was with them, proberly isn't helping either," he sighed.
Sirius raised an eyebrow. "I didn't know Harry had any German friends," he replied. "Do you think he could be the son of one of his contacts at Durmstrang?"
"I wouldn't know," Remus said shaking his head. "You and I both know that Lucius Malfoy has a lot of dark contacts around that region."
Sirius nodded in agreement. He was glad that Remus now looked to be calming down. "Then we need to find out who he is," he then suggested. "Same goes for those anonymity-me...Anne-me-whatever characters that Draco keeps claiming Harry is sending after him."
"Anime," the ex-DADA professor corrected him, "we'll have to find someone who knows about anime."
"As far as I know, only Colin does," Sirius said glumly. "The only problem is, is that he only talks now and then and most of the time its complete babble."
Remus shook his head slowly and sighed. "Well he has had a very traumatic time recently, so his state of mind is pretty understandable," he told Padfoot. "If I am going to have to go out and find who this German kid is, then you are going to have to look after the remaining four. Though I suspect Blaise might not be coming back."
Sirius grimaced, as he knew that they could not stay at the Leaky Cauldron for too much longer, as it was costing money of course, he realised they needed to find a new place. Now that the rented house in Exeter was a no go, the only place left for them was Grimmauld Place. It was the Black family home, where Sirius lived until he was sixteen when he ran away from home just like what Blaise and Draco did. He could relate to how they were feeling about running away, but unlike them he fortunately was expelled from Hogwarts.
"I know Grimmauld Place," Sirius sighed. He didn't like the thought of going there, even though his mother had died about ten years earlier.
"Well at least you don't have to pay to say there," Remus pointed out.
"No, just put up with Kreacher and my mother's portrait," he groaned, placing his hands on the top of his head. "Well I suppose the portrait isn't as bad as it would be if it was actually my mother. So does this mean that you are going alone?"
Remus nodded. "This could be dangerous so it would be best that I do not take any of them with me," he explained. "Well, it's late, so I am just going to turn in now."
Sirius himself didn't go to bed for a while yet. It wasn't actually late, he just suspected that Remus was planning to get up very early to start his journey before they could stop him. Not that he himself was going to do that, he guess Remus was worried that Ron or Hermione would want to stop him. Padfoot himself didn't fall asleep until gone midnight as the thought of taking them to Grimmauld place kept him awake until he was too tired to keep his eyes open.
~~~~~*~~~~~

Kurt didn't feel like he could fit in at the wizard gathering he had gone to with Harry, so while no one had been looking he snuck out. He hadn't wanted to stay in Diagon Alley either, he just felt so out of place around wizards so he'd gone out onto the evening streets of London. His attention was captured by a TV store. The TV's in the window were all still on. All the channels were set to various news channels, each showing various pictures of a burnt one building. He knew it very well, same as the pictures of people that kept popping up as well. He knew who each of them was, but they were far away and practically in a totally different world. Because there was no sound, he couldn't hear what was being said, but he could read the text on the screen and he didn't like what he was seeing. Kurt closed his eyes, but he could still see their faces.
