Chapter three

He woke up from deep slumber. The rays of the morning sun lightened the room with a soft glow. He hadn't slept like that for years. Smiling, he sat up and stretched his well rested muscles. There was no reason to beat around the bush anymore.

He hadn't found out Harry's address but everyone knew that Harry was an Auror. The hard part was that he had to go to the Ministry if he wanted to contact Harry personally. Everyone thought he was a Death Eater, so he couldn't just walk in there. He had prepared a disguise for himself. He hoped that they wouldn't find out who he really was until he had reached his destination.

~*****~

Harry was sitting in his office, enjoying his only peaceful moment he had got in a week. After he had beat Voldemort everyone had gone ecstatic. He had had thousands of letters from all over the world. Every single one had a similar message, 'Thank you. You are our saviour!'

Throughout the years he had been thinking about Draco. He didn't know if he was even alive. He hadn't seen him after he disappeared. He had always checked the bodies after every battle, feeling greatly relieved when Draco's hadn't been there. He had waited for ten years Draco to come back to him, dead or alive.

"Hello, Harry."

Harry froze. That voice, could it be? He slowly turned to face the door but felt confused when he saw that it wasn't Draco. Somebody he didn't know was standing there, looking at him.

"Who are you?" Harry demanded.

The person closed the door quietly, walking closer. "You might not recognise me but I am the one who you think I am," Draco answered not knowing how Harry would react.

Harry watched his as he shifted nervously in front of him. Harry's eyes showed hope but then it turned into doubt. "How can I be sure?" Harry asked and eyed him suspiciously.

"Veritaserum," Draco said.

Harry thought about the man's answer. Why would a dishonest person suggest Veritaserum if they were lying? But it could be that they expected him to believe them because of that.

Okay, if you want to," Harry said and took a vile of Veritaserum from a cabinet next to his desk. "Sit down, please." Harry pointed a chair opposite to his desk.

Draco sat down, watching as Harry walked around the desk. Harry gave him a few drops. He felt the effect immediately. He felt naked in front of Harry, ready to tell him everything.

"Who are you?" Harry's first question was not a surprise.

"Draco Anthony Malfoy."

Harry's face paled a little but he kept his composure. "Where have you been the last ten years?"

"I've been in Voldemort's hideout."

"What were you doing there?"

"I took care of my daughter," Draco said and saw hurt and confusion in Harry's eyes.

"You have a daughter?"

"We do," Draco said, hoping that Harry wouldn't get mad.

"We?" Harry's eyes were as large as Quaffles.

"I gave birth to our baby in February 1st in 1997."

"You were pregnant?!"

"Yes."

"How's that possible?" Harry started to look doubtful.

"Pure-blood wizards have always been rare, so males can also have children."

Harry pondered Draco's answer for a moment, clearly wondering what to ask next. "Where is she?"

"She's with her godfather, Severus Snape."

"Snape!? He's our daughter's godfather!?"

"Yes."

"I can't believe this. Snape!?" Harry asked, still confused.

"Yes," Draco answered again.

Harry was really confused. He wanted to ask so many questions but they would not be fair to ask right now when Draco was under the influence on the Veritaserum. He didn't even know if he ever wanted an answer to them. "Can I meet her?" Harry decided to ask.

"Of course you can."

Harry was, once again, wondering what he should to ask next but before he could Draco opened his mouth and said, "I wanted to come back but I couldn't. The Dark Lord threatened to kill Hannah if I didn't stay loyal to him."

"Hannah?" Harry asked.

"Yes, our daughter."

"Why didn't you come here sooner?" Harry asked suddenly.

"I had to gather courage to come here. I was and still am scared that you won't believe me." Draco winced because he didn't want Harry to know how weak he was.

Harry noticed this and a strange gleam appeared into his eyes. "You missed me?"

Draco cursed before answering, "Yes."

Harry smiled but it didn't reach his eyes. "It's not going to be easy, you know. we can't just go back the way we were before," Harry said quietly, avoiding Draco's gaze.

"I know that, but I promise I'll do anything to make up the time we lost." Draco tried not to wince because he wanted Harry to know that he was serious, although, he wouldn't have said it like that if he had a choice.

"Don't you see, it's not enough. At least not to me," Harry answered.

Draco swallowed nervously, looking away. The serum's effect was fading slowly and he felt relieved. He would get out of here soon, able to leave for good.

"So Hannah's with Snape?" Harry asked folding his arms across his chest.

"Yes. We've been staying there since the Dark Lord's downfall," Draco answered, still not looking at Harry.

"Have you planned what you are going to do now that Voldemort is dead?"

Shit. He didn't want Harry to know about his decision to leave the country but he had little choice in the matter. "Hannah and I are leaving to France tomorrow night," Draco said reluctantly.

"What?! You were going to leave without telling me!" Harry shouted, his hopes to get back together with Draco fading into distance.

"I was scared!" Draco jumped up from his chair, poking Harry's chest with his forefinger. "What the hell do you think I should do! Should I crawl, begging for you to take me back! Is that what you want?!"

Draco didn't normally show his emotions, even he himself was surprised.

Harry did the only thing he had always done to calm Draco when they argued. Old habits were hard to forget, so before he could help himself, he kissed Draco hard.

Draco froze, being reluctant but relaxed soon enough to be caught in the moment. When somebody coughed, they separated.

Rather uncomfortable looking Ron Weasley was standing at the door. Harry glanced quickly Ron-Draco-Ron, knowing it must have looked strange that he was kissing strangers in his office. Ron had known about his and Draco's relationship but he was never okay with it. He smiled remembering the time Ron had caught them red handed.

"Harry?" Ron asked, waking Harry from his memoirs.

"Yes, Ron. This is...."

Draco walked briskly toward Ron, offering his hand. "Anthony Hopkins, nice to meet you, Mr Weasley."

"Like wise." Ron looked a little confused but shook hands with Draco, looking at Harry questionably.

"I was just leaving. See you tomorrow, Harry?" Draco asked, looking at Harry expectantly.

Harry got the message, nodding once.

"It was really nice to meet you Mr Weasley," Draco said before leaving.

"You are already in the first name basics?" Ron asked after the door had slammed shut.

Harry sighed, sitting down behind his desk. "Ron, please sit down and I'll explain everything." Harry ran his hand through his hair.

Ron sat down on the chair where Draco had sat a few minutes earlier.

Harry told Ron about Draco and Hannah.

"Wow. You sure it was really Malfoy?" Ron asked when all sank in.

"You can't lie under the influence of Veritaserum," Harry said matter-of-factly.

"So, what are you going to do?" Ron asked.

"Honestly?" Harry asked, Ron nodding.

"I don't know. I'm going to meet my daughter tomorrow but after that I don't know," Harry said sincerely.

~*****~

Draco returned to Severus' house and a bright 'Daddy' could be heard as soon as he got the front door open.

He hugged his daughter tight. "Hello, Angel," he said and gave her a quick kiss on the cheek.

"So, you settled things with Potter?" Snape asked as Draco let her go.

"We'll meet again tomorrow. He wants to meet Hannah," Draco said, looking Hannah with his silvery grey eyes. He knew Harry would fall in love with Hannah when he saw her, so maybe there was a chance for them after all.
