Chapter One: The Unfortunate Meeting
Crystal stepped off the train and looked around to survey her surroundings. As she did so she bumped into a boy of about her age. She looked up. The boy was tall and thin and had red hair and blue eyes. She blushed nervously and looked at the ground. When she did so she noticed she'd knocked his belongings onto the floor.
"Sorry about that," she said, still blushing. "Here, I'll help clean it up." Without thinking Crystal pulled her wand out and performed a cleaning charm.
"Ummm miss, did you pay attention to what you've just done?" the boy said, looking worried.
"Of course I did, I just took out my wand and..." Her voice trailed off. She paused to think. Her eyes darted around the room and she muttered, "Oh dear..." Crystal looked at the boy with pure horror. "I'm sorry I have to do this," she said, pulling out her wand. She knew what she had to do. She apologized again and began to raise her wand.
The boy's hand shot out of his coat pocket and grabbed her wand from her. "You really don't think I'm just going to let you erase my memory, do you?" the boy questioned her with a grin. "I'm not a Muggle so don't worry about it."
He gave her back her wand.
"Thanks, I'm Crystal," she said with a weak smile.
The boy stuck out his hand. "I'm Ron."
She grabbed his hand and shook it. Crystal was still panicky and had not exactly checked things out. Again she surveyed her surroundings. She noticed a tall boy with untidy black hair, a young girl with long red hair, a girl her age with bushy brown hair and two older boys who looked exactly alike. Ron noticed she looked in the direction she was looking.
"Oh, here, let me introduce you to my family and friends," he said, ushering Crystal toward the group." Harry, Ginny, Hermione and I are on our way to Hogwarts."
Crystal stopped and gave Ron a half-dazed sort of look. "Hogwarts?" she said.
"You don't go there?" Ron asked.
"No, I've just came in from the U.S. I ran away. My mother wouldn't let me go to the school there. She hates me. You see, absolutely nobody in my family was a witch before me," Crystal replied, no longer dazed.
"I have a friend who teaches me during summer break. Of course it's harder to learn in only three months," answered.
"Interesting," he said. My dad works at the Ministry of Magic; maybe there's some kind of test you can take to enter late. I'll ask my brother Fred to Apparate and inform him of you."
"I can Apparate too. I'll go with him after you've set off," Crystal suggested.
"Ok," Ron said back. Between the time Crystal bumped into Ron and the moment he walked off to talk to his brother, Crystal could tell she was going to be happy in Europe.
