Author's Note:
This is loosely based on the Draco Dormiens series, (I’m so bad with names. I can’t remember who wrote it and it’s one of my favourite stories. Hope you don’t mind me borrowing it. So if the author is reading this feel free to send me a review and refresh my memory and I’ll be sure to include it in my next chapter J) remember I thrive on reviews.

Harry Potter And The Return To The Dark Side

Chapter One:

Brotherly Love

*******

As he slept, the weirdest dream that Harry had ever had slowly over powered his subconscious, he was running through a corn field hand in hand with his best friend, Hermione, when suddenly a giant mechanical spider appeared in front of them.

They both stopped dead as the spider slowly bent down to examine them both, Hermione let go of his hand very dramatically and ran away screaming. Harry, who was rooted to the spot both out of fear and curiosity (I mean how often do you come across a giant mechanical spider!), failed to flee in time and the spider lowered it's huge head and began to engulf Harry in it's vast mechanical jaws...

********

"Potter... Potter!!!! Don't make me have to touch you!!!"

As he stirred in his sleep Harry made a recognizable grunt, which sounded, to Draco Malfoy a lot like, "Get lost Malfoy"

Draco gave Harry a clout around his head and said, "Get up ya lazy bugger! We're going down to London to buy supplies for our trip to America tomorrow."

And with that he turned and walked out the door.

When Harry was an orphan and lived with his aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon at number 4, Privet Drive he would have given anything to have a brother or a sister, who was the same as him and who he could talk to about anything and everything. Now he had a brother, well stepbrother, but nevertheless a brother, he was pretty sure that having a sibling was highly overrated. Especially when your brother was Draco Malfoy, who was very vain and spent most of his time in his room probably looking at himself in the mirror or 'perfecting' his hair in the bathroom and using up all the hot water.

Even after being related to him for nearly eight months Harry still couldn't believe that he, Harry Potter, and Draco Malfoy, who had been enemies ever since they had met in Madam Malkins Robe making shop in Diagon Alley getting their Wizards robes for their first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, were now brothers. The reason that Harry and his long time nemesis were now brothers was because about eight months ago, when Draco's mum and dad had gotten divorced, Narcissa, Draco's mum and Harry's Godfather, Sirius Black, had begun to date and pretty soon Sirius had proposed to Narcissa and they were married on 1st January and that, along with Sirius' decision to adopt Harry, was how the famous Harry Potter and the notorious Draco Malfoy became brothers.

*******

As Draco came out of his bedroom, fully dressed in a skimpy black T-shirt and black denim jeans, he heard his brother grumbling to himself about getting up too early. Draco just laughed inwardly and thought to himself, "You are such a baby Potter," and laughed again, this time out loud, as another thought entered his head this time not in his voice but in Harry's, "Am not, Malfoy!! I'm just tired." Being able to hear someone else's voice inside your own head would seem weird to some people, but not to Draco and Harry. They had been able to hear each others thoughts for about two years now, after a Polyjuice potion had a disastrous effect, causing them to stay looking like each other for longer than normal, creating a special and magical bond between them.

It came in useful for some stuff too: as the previous year it had proved very helpful in saving the lifeÂ’s of both Harry and his best friend, and Draco's girlfriend, Muggle-born Hermione Granger, when Salazar Slytherin had risen from his grave and kidnapped them both. Believing that Hermione had been Rowena Ravenclaw reincarnated and that Harry was Godric Gryffindor.

He made his way down the stairs leading from the first floor to the ground floor and into kitchen/ dining room. As Draco entered the room the first thing he saw was his mother sat at the table eating breakfast with her nose buried in the morning edition of the Daily Prophet.

"Morning!!" she said over the top of the paper as Draco sat down in a chair opposite her and began pouring himself some cereal. "Sleep well?"

"Yeah!"

"Did you get Harry up?" She had lowered the paper and was looking at him suspiciously as though he had done something very wrong indeed.

"I tried!" he replied, "but he wouldn't get up and told me to get lost, so I did!"

Narcissa didn't say anything in response, she just tutted and turned back to her paper.

********

Most of Sirius' family was sat around the breakfast table, as he strode into the dining room/ kitchen stifling a yawn, that is with the exception of his adopted son Harry. Harry's mum and dad where Sirius' very best friends when they were at school together and after they were murdered he became Harry's Godfather but as he was imprisoned for twelve years it was only now that his name had been cleared could he officially adopt Harry and give him a proper home.

"Morning," he said sleepily as he kissed Narcissa, his wife of seven months, on the cheek.

"Morning, Sirius," replied Narcissa looking up from the Daily Prophet she was reading.

Across the table from his mum was Draco Malfoy, who looked a lot like his dad with his blonde hair and blue gray eyes, not that Sirius would ever tell Draco this as his dad had tried to kill him about a year ago (they seemed to have had a very eventful year) and would have succeeded in doing so had Harry's telepathic connection between him and Draco not told them where to find him at exactly the right time.

Draco, who was preoccupied in reading a letter from his girlfriend, Hermione, and eating what looked like the whole of the contents of the kitchen cupboards and fridge, merely grunted what sounded like 'Morning' through a mouthful of Cornflakes.

********

Draco was already sat at the breakfast table when his step-dad, Sirius, walked in and barely realized he had said morning to him, he was a bit preoccupied this morning. It was his last day in England and Europe for that matter as he was going to collect his twin sister from living with their aunt and uncle who lived in New York City in America and it was Harry's and his job to go to America for two whole weeks sunbathing and eating loads of American Junk food before returning home with another addition to the Black-Malfoy-Potter family.

Draco only looked up when he heard his brother come stomping into the room sulking at being woken up so early and yawning.

"Morning!!! Sleep well?"

Draco knew that even his telepathic voice was dripped with sarcasm but as many people reminded him so often that was his specialty.

"Don't start with me! I'm really tired and am not responsible for anything I say whether it be telepathically or normally!"

Draco chuckled to himself before returning to Hermione's letter.

Dear Draco,

How are you? I can't believe you get to go to America for two whole weeks. They have loads of really interesting things there to do with witchcraft and wizardry and that would really come in useful at school to give you a head start in History of magic classes. (Not that she needs a head start, she's always top of the class," thought Draco)

I hope that you and Harry are getting along better with each other as you've been living together for eight months now. I really can't stand it when you two fight with each other; I mean brothers should fight but not as bad as you two have done in the past.

Anyway I'm really going to miss you when you leave for America and you'd better write to me while your there. I can't wait to see Dracalea again I can't believe she never told me she had a twin brother.

Well have a good trip and take care while you're in New York; I look forward to seeing you when you get back.

Love you always,

Hermione

Draco folded the letter up and put it down on the table feeling like he was on cloud nine. He knew he should be feeling down because he was leaving his girlfriend behind while he was away for a fortnight but somehow he couldn't help feeling that he was the luckiest boy in the world.

********

An hour later Draco and Harry, who was more awake now than he had been half an hour ago, stepped out of the front door of what used to be Malfoy Manor and were immediately greeted by the late July sunshine.

"Dray?" asked Harry as he and Draco made their way down to the train station in Malfoy Park, the village at the foot of the hill on top of which the Manor was built. The Village was called 'Malfoy Park' because the locals who lived there hated Lucius (Draco's biological father) and his ancestors as they had terrorized them for years.

"What?" replied Draco

"Why exactly are we going to London?"

"To buy some essentials for our trip, Harry,” he replied, his tone suggesting that Harry didn't know anything at all.

"Right, essentials. Like Swim wear and sun tan lotion...."

"Precisely!" Harry could defiantly hear the ring of annoyance starting to seep through his brotherÂ’s calm even tone now.

"...And Hair care products like hairspray and gel for you!!!"

This seemed to get rid of the agitation that was projecting from Draco as he gave Harry a playful shove. And they spent the rest of the journey to the village laughing and joking as though they had been both brothers and best friends their whole lives not just eight months.

********

Hermione Granger was lying on her front on her bed with the phone propped to her ear with her shoulder as she painted her fingernails with a nice new polish she had bought. On the other end of the line, all the way from New York City, was the voice of her best friend since she was at nursery school, Dracalea Malfoy.

"I can't wait till the guys get here I haven't seen Draco except in the pictures he sent me, and I haven't even seen Harry at all. What does he look like?" Dracalea asked.

"Well he's about 5"5', he's got black hair, emerald green eyes and he's got quite a nice body too.'

"Yum! Hey aren't you supposed to be going out with Draco? DonÂ’t let him hear you say you think Harry's fit."

Even though she'd only been living in New York for a year she was already starting to develop an American accent. She had moved to New York when her Uncle had got a job as a manager of a huge Muggle department store in the Big Apple. She had attended The Lewiston Academy for Young Witches and Wizards, which Hermione figured was a weird change because she had a home tutor to teach her magic before, as it was too dangerous for both her and Draco to attend Hogwarts. Dracalea and Draco Malfoy were twin brother and sister who were separated at birth because Lucius Malfoy had told Narcissa, his wife at the time (who was now Sirius') that if the child she was carrying was a girl he would just leave her to die because he wanted a male child to carry on the Malfoy family name. So when she had the twins she secretly sent Dracalea to live with Narcissa's sister and brother-in-law until it was safe for her to return. And she could now that Voldemort was defeated once and for all and Lucius was in St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies in the section for the criminally insane after trying to kill Draco. Just thinking about how she may have lost the one person she ever truly loved still brought tears to HermioneÂ’s eyes.

"Hermione... Hermione! Are you listening to me, or are you thinking about something else, or should I say someone else?"

Snapping abruptly out of her daydream. "What? Sorry 'calea I guess I was thinking about something else," said Hermione feeling embarrassed.

"I kind of figured that you weren't listening, I may be blonde but I can always tell when people have their heads in the clouds ya know!”

There was a pause on the other end of the line and Hermione, who could feel herself getting redder and redder, was so glad that Dracalea was not able to see her.

"You really love him don't you?"

"Yeah I do. Oh my gosh!!!! I feel so embarrassed talking to you about dating your brother."

"Why do you feel embarrassed? If Draco wasn't my brother I'd fancy him too, from the pictures he's sent me he's gorgeous!!" she replied with a humorous tone in her voice.

"Urgh! That sounds so weird coming from you."

They spent the rest of the morning talking to each other about typical girly things like boys, boys, boys and more boys.

********

The weather in London as they stepped through the barrier leading from platform six and half onto the muggle platform at Kings Cross was considerably different than it had been when they left the manor. The sky was no longer cloudless but instead full of big black rain clouds.

Harry and Draco hailed a taxicab and got in just in time because as soon as they closed the door the heavens opened and it began to rain heavily. When they reached their destination, which was a flashy swimwear shop somewhere down the London high street the rain had died off however, there was now a low rumble of thunder somewhere in the distance.

They entered the shop and were immediately greeted by rows upon rows of bright-coloured bikinis, swimsuits, shorts and trunks. They walked over to the male section and wandered up and down the isles looking for something that looked cool. Suddenly Draco wandered off.

"Dray! Where you going?"

When Draco didn't answer him, Harry decided to follow him and see what he was up to.

Draco knew Harry had asked him a question but didn't bother to answer him. When he finally stopped in front of a row of cool swimming trunks Harry almost knocked him over.

"Draco what are you doing?"

"I found them," he replied, "the perfect swimming trunks." As he spoke he pulled out a pair of black trunks with silver edging on them, the two colours that Draco was Infamous for always wearing. Even today he had black on with the silver chain Hermione had given him for his birthday last year with the words

Draco and Hermione together forever

Engraved on the back of the pendant attached to it.

"Draco, can't you pick some that are another colour. 'Cause you wear black every day of the year. Try finding some more."

Harry spent the next ten minutes arguing with Draco about what colour to get when in the end Draco actually did get the black ones but also some light blue ones too.

Chapter 2:

Harry and Draco take on America

Draco and Harry emerged from some huge Muggle shoe store with about eight carrier bags each, looking very tired and hungry. They made their way through the crowded London streets and subways towards Kings Cross station, through the barrier between platforms six and seven, on to the train and in what seemed like no time at all they were walking back up the hill towards the manor.

*******

Draco scanned his bedroom as if expecting something unusual to be waiting for him when he got there. But everything was normal... well normal for a seventeen-year old wizards room anyway.

In a corner of his room was a trunk that he used for school, which at this moment had a half empty suitcase on top of it as he was in the middle of packing for his trip. Strewn all over his desk were books for school with titles such as Advanced Transfiguration and The Standard Book of Spells Grade 7. On his dresser there were photo's of his mum, Sirius, Harry, Dracalea, and Hermione, but none however of his biological father, considering he'd nearly killed him and he didn't need to be reminded of him because, for once, he felt like he really belonged somewhere, he had a mum and a step dad, who was more like a dad than Lucius had ever been, who loved him and a brother who risked his life to save him and the best girlfriend in the world.

He sat down on his bed and picked up a picture of Hermione from his bedside table and looked at it sadly as the picture looked back at him, smiled and waved. He withdrew his gaze from Hermione's picture with a heartbreaking effort and put it in his suitcase along with a picture of the whole family that was taken on the vacation they went on during Easter break.

With one last look at the photographs he continued to put the clothes he and Harry had bought earlier into the suitcase.

********

After what felt like about two hours sleep Harry was shaken awake by someone and as he slipped his glasses on the image of Sirius slowly came into focus.

"Sirius? What time is it?"

"4am," Sirius replied brightly

"4am," repeated Harry looking at Sirius as if he was mad. "Wake me up in about 5 hours." And he rolled over and closed his eyes again without even taking his glasses off.

"Fine. But don't blame me when you miss your flight."

This woke Harry up immediately "why didn't you say so?" he asked as he got up and began to route in his wardrobe for something to wear.

"Thought that'd wake you up!" Sirius said as he walked out of the room with a grin on his face, and across the hall presumably to wake Draco up.

About half an hour later a very tired looking Draco wandered in Harry's room to see if he was all packed, and Harry couldn't help but think that Draco looked much better than he usually did, probably because you couldn't see his hair because he had a baseball cap on, which of course was black. He was obviously too tired to fix it properly this morning. He was just about to voice these thoughts when Draco's voice filled his head.

"Why thank you Harry. You don't look to bad yourself just a bit tired."

This shocked Harry for a moment, it was way too early to have a telepathic conversation with some one, and then he replied out loud:

"Thanks. You look as though you got about 10 minutes sleep last night."

"Yeah, I probably did," Draco said through a yawn. "Hurry up, Sirius said be down stairs in 5 minutes."

And turned and walked out the door without waiting for an answer.

"You know?" Harry thought to himself. "Sometimes I just can't figure that guy out."

"Sometimes I can't figure you out either."

********

After saying goodbye to Narcissa and Sirius, Draco and Harry stepped through the revolving doors into the foyer and checking in desks of Heathrow airport. The air was very hot and made both of them feel claustrophobic.

"Bit stupid really, having the heaters on when it's a red hot day outside," thought Harry.

"For once, I couldn't agree with you more," replied Draco with a surprised look at Harry, who just simply grinned back at him.

"What's it say on the ticket?"

Draco withdrew the two tickets from his hand luggage and quickly scanned them reading aloud the information on them.

"American Airlines, Flight 367, to New York, 9am, Desk 23."

Harry who was already scanning the numbered desks, pointed out Desk 23, which was at the other end of the room. "Typical, we would have to get one right at the end."

They actually managed to get checked in relatively quickly and got through Customs fine although Draco was still reluctant to take his Rolex off so he could go through the detectors. They arrived at the gate 45 minutes early so they both decided to grab something to eat from the only shop open at 8.15am, Pizza Hut.

When it was time to board the plane they had to wait for what seemed like forever and when they got on the aircraft they found out why. They were sitting right at the back and the attendants had called people on by seat number.

The take off went smoothly and even Draco who had only flown on an aeroplane twice before managed to get through it without freaking out and blowing up the plane. They were both Magids, very powerful wizards whose powers are triggered by their emotions, and Draco was normally pretty good at coping with these emotions, it was Harry who had the problem controlling them. He had a tendency to blow things up when he was upset or really angry. A couple of summers ago at Magid school in Ireland he was very upset over the fact that Hermione, his then girlfriend broke up with him to date the famous Bulgarian Quidditch player, Viktor Krum. He managed to blow up a bottle on his desk, covering Draco in ink and glass, a glass globe on Professor Lupin's desk and shatter a window. But he was better at it now than he had been.

About an hour after take off the in-flight entertainment began, starting with a Muggle show called Friends Harry thought this show was pretty cool but Draco was Literally crying with laughter as he watched it and complained rather loudly as it drew to a close and the movies began. The movies were pretty good too, there were ones like The Tailor Of Panama that had an actor in that looked really familiar to Harry but he couldn't quite think why.

********

Twelve hours later New York International airport finally came into view as the plane pulled around to the gate. The passengers getting off the plane were suddenly greeted by a blast of cool air conditioning, which was a pleasant change from the unbearable heat at Heathrow.

After collecting their baggage Harry and Draco made their way through immigration and into the pick up area where a tall and slim woman who looked a lot like Narcissa greeted them, who Harry guessed was her sister.

"Draco! Harry!!" she yelled as they made their way over to her and she pulled them both into a tight hug almost suffocating them.

"Aunt Christina!!" Draco exclaimed when she had finally let go of them.

"You've grown up so much, the last time I saw you, you were still a baby, about a day old. But look at you now!" Aunt Christina said as she led them out of the airport and into the car park to her car, which happened to be the nicest car Harry and ever seen. It was a metallic purple colour and had a fold down roof; Harry wished he could take it back home with him.

Draco spent the entire journey from the airport absent-mindedly staring out of the window fiddling with the chain around his neck.

Harry looked at Draco and then at Aunt Christina and thought to Draco:

"Dray! WhatÂ’s wrong?"

This question obviously surprised Draco because he jumped out of his skin and gave Harry and an exasperated look before he answered him.

"Do you mind? You frightened me to death!"

"Sorry, what's wrong?"

"NothingÂ’s wrong I'm just well nervous, ya know, I haven't seen her since we were born and what if she doesn't like me?"

There was something in Draco's tone that made Harry feel sorry for him.

"Don't be stupid! How can she not like you? YouÂ’re funny, smart, good looking."

Draco chuckled, "Yeah, you're right; if she doesn't like me it's her loss"

Harry snorted, "I don't remember saying that."

Draco just laughed and punched him lightly in the arm.

They pulled up to a beautiful house in a quiet neighbourhood and as Aunt Christina gabbed their bags from the boot Harry and Draco made their way to the front door and as they stepped over the threshold a girl about their age came running down the stairs. She had just below shoulder length blonde hair that was just a bit lighter than Draco's, bright blue eyes and her figure was as slim as Draco's was. It was Dracalea; Harry recognized her from the pictures Draco had back home on his dresser.

"Draco? It is you!!!! Oh my Gosh!!!!" She came running down the stairs at top speed and swept Draco into her arms and hugged for what seemed like forever and when she pulled away she had tears streaming down her face and to Harry's surprise she wasn't the only one crying, Draco had tears in his eyes too.

"I don't think I've ever seen him cry before," Harry thought.

"You haven't and if you ever tell anyone I will personally break both of your legs."

Before Harry had time to think of a response to this Dracalea pulled him into a hug. When she had finished hugging them both she showed them their rooms and gave them a quick tour of the house.

They spent the rest of the evening catching up on what they missed over the past fifteen years. It turned out that Dracalea was just like Hermione, although she looked like Draco; she was top of the class; she also had a chance to be made Head Girl when she started Hogwarts in September like Hermione and loved all things girly, especially taking about boys.

Draco, Harry and Dracalea went to bed about 2 o'clock that night, or rather the next morning. And as Draco got ready for bed and slipped between the covers he felt very peaceful and happy and the only thought that crossed his mind as he was going to sleep was

"Hermione."

********

As Harry sunk into the extremely soft bed in one of the guest rooms he heard Draco thinking about Hermione and said quietly to himself, "My thoughts exactly." Not that he would ever have admitted this to Draco. Harry loved Hermione but only as a friend and he wasn't about to jeopardize the friendship and closeness he had between both Hermione and Draco by telling her how he really felt, besides, Harry said to himself she's going out with Dray and they love each other so I should be happy for them shouldn't I?

And with that he drifted into a very deep sleep.

*******

The two weeks they were in America seemed to fly by and soon they were getting ready to board their flight back to Heathrow Airport, but not before they had one last sample of traditional American food (Hotdogs, Hamburgers, Fries).

The return flight was as good as the outward one had been and Draco was even calmer than he had been before. He was very excited when they showed another episode of Friends and loved all the movies they showed which were all different from the ones coming, which Harry was slightly annoyed at as he still hadn't figured out who that actor was that looked so familiar.
