She's More

Lily looked at her reflection in her full-length mirror in her bedroom. She was thirteen today, and didn't see any improvement from when she was twelve. 'Oh well,' she thought as she went downstairs. She had recently shot up and was now five foot three, and gotten contacts instead of her glasses. She was happy about that because, her favorite part of her appearance was her bright green eyes, and now everybody could see that because those wretched glasses didn't cover up her eyes anymore. She had also cut her hair to about three inches below her shoulders, and gotten it layered.

Over at Sirius' house, James was there and they were in Sirius' kitchen, doing their favorite activity, besides playing Quidditch and flirting with girls. Eating. "So, Jamie?" Sirius asked. "Who do you like this year?"

"I don't really know," James replied.

"Okay, let me rephrase this, who is your dream girl?" Sirius asked.

"Well, she has blue eyes, tall, and long hair," James said thoughtfully.

"Doesn't sound like any of the girls in our year..." Sirius trailed off.

A few moments later, a brown owl that they recognized as Lily's came swooping through the window and landing on the chair next to them. "It's from Lily!" Sirius said.

"Let's open it!" James said to Sirius, who was untying the letter from the owl's leg.

They opened the letter and it read:

Dear Sirius and James, (I know you are spending the last week of the holidays at Sirius')

How's everything? Well, everything is fine over here. Guess what? You two and Remus can't call me a midget anymore! I grew! I am five foot three! Here is a picture of me, don't ask why I sent it, I just did. Well, I'll see you in a week on the Hogwarts Express!

XOX Lily OXO

They saw an envelope and opened the envelope to see a picture of Lily in there, except it wasn't the same Lily they knew last year. This Lily was actually, pretty. Yes, they have thought of Lily as a sister but they couldn't help thinking that she was a potential girlfriend or partner to the Astronomy Tower. "Wow..." Sirius broke the silence.

"Yeah," James agreed.

After they had gotten over Lily's picture they went up to Sirius' room and took out a piece of parchment, quill and ink and Sirius wrote:

Hey Lils/midget. ( haha)

Wow, you've changed so much. I can't wait to see you in a week. Well, here is a picture of us. We haven't changed that much, well, nothing more to say. We'll meet you on the Hogwarts Express.

XOX James and Sirius OXO

P.S. What does XOXOXO mean anyway?

They gave the letter to Lily's owl, whose name was Violet, and she soared off.

~*~*~The Next Week~*~*~

~*On The Hogwarts Express*~

"Oh my gosh! Lily! Is that you?" her best friend Sarah Shields asked her. Sarah had dark brown hair that was always wavy, and trying to use a straightener was completely pointless, and was a little shorter than Lily's.

"Sarah!" she yelled back as she ran up to her best friend.

Then, she saw James and Sirius through the crowd. She excused herself from Sarah. Yes, Sarah was her best girl friend but James. Sirius, and Remus were her best friends. Ever. In their first year, she was wandering around the train when a Filibuster Firework nearly lit her hair on fire. Yep, that was how they met, and that was typically her life with James, Sirius, and Remus. Complete chaos.

James looked at Lily in awe. He saw her running towards them, with her new appearance, he almost didn't recognize her. "Lily!" he yelled, hugging her.

"Hi James!" she said, hugging him back. "Sirius!" she squealed, hugging him too.

Then, she ran past them and hugged Remus, who looked very surprised. "Lily!" they heard him yell.

They didn't see Lily again until the train ride. Supposedly, her friend, Sarah, had dragged her off somewhere. But, it was about forty-five minutes into the train ride when she poked her head into their compartment. "Hi!" she said. She came in and sat down right by James.

After about fifteen minutes, Sarah came in yelling, "Oh my gosh! Lily! You have to come and see Caroline!" Then, she saw the three boys and said, "Oh, hello Sirius!"

Lily rolled her eyes as they left. That's when James told them, "I found the girl of my dreams."

"Who? Sarah?" Sirius asked.

"Lily," he said simply.

'I like blue eyes, hers are green,

Not like the woman of my dreams,

And her hair's not quite as long as I had planned.

Five foot three...isn't tall

She's not the girl I pictured at all

And those paint by numbers fantasies I've had'

"Sarah! You like Sirius don't you?" Lily asked.

"Yes! And everyone knows you like James!" Sarah retorted.

Lily smiled, "Yes, I do."

That evening, at the feast, Lily, Caroline, and Sarah were sitting on one side of the table, where James, Remus, and Sirius. Lily looked over at James, who was staring at her, for the first time noticing her amazing green eyes.

'So it took me by complete surprise,

When my heart got lost in those deep green eyes

She's not at all what I was lookin' for...

She's more,'

On the way up to the Gryffindor Common Room, James pulled Lily back and said, "Lily, you're my dream girl. I don't know why I haven't realized it until now, but..."

Lily smiled. "I feel the same."

James breathed a sigh of relief as he put his arm over her shoulders and walked to the portrait of the Fat Lady.

James kissed Lily goodnight and she returned the kiss, then, they parted and went up to their separate dorms. "Jamie! What happened?"

"I just got a new girlfriend. The girl of my dreams," James said with a dazed, happy-goofy look on his face.

"Why didn't you realize you liked Lily before now?" Remus asked.

"I don't know," James replied honestly.

'No it wasn't at first sight...

but the moment I looked twice.

I saw the woman, I was born to love...'

The next morning Lily was standing, back to the boys' dormitories and James came out. He snuck up behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist. She laughed as he smelled the sweet scent of her hair.

'Her laughter fills my soul

and when I hold her I don't wanna let go

When it comes to her, I can't get enough...'

They all made their way down to the Great Hall, Lily and James, lagging behind the others. James looked down into Lily's green eyes, and wondered why he didn't realize that he loved her before.

'So it took me by complete surprise

when my heart got lost in those deep green eyes

She's not at all what I was lookin' for...

She's more...'

As James kissed the top of her forehead, he realized that he was the luckiest man on earth, to have a girl like Lily Evans, allowing him to hold her, allowing him to love her like he did.

'More than I dreamed of

More than any man deserves...

I couldn't ask for more than a love like hers...'

He again realized that he had pictured somebody completely different. He now couldn't imagine that he wanted some girl with blue eyes, instead of Lily's green ones. True, he used to look at her as a friend, but now, he felt...love. Not friendly love, but love, love. He knew that he wanted to be with her for the rest of his life.

'So it took me by complete surprise

when my heart got lost in those deep green eyes

She's not at all what I was lookin' for...

She's more...
