The Secret Life of Hermione Granger

Chapter 1: The Guardian of The Heir

"Hermione" sighed. She had been waiting for Dumbledore for over thirty minutes. She thought back to the day's events. After riding the school train with Harry and Ron back to London, she has immediately Apparated back to Hogsmeade and walked up to Hogwarts. Dumbledore knew she would be here. Now where was he?

"Ah, Miss Granger." Dumbledore announced, walking into the room. She sighed and rolled hey eyes. "Please, don't call me that. I just need to know I am who I am for a little while."

"My dear, are you unhappy with your task?"

"Oh no, its not that. It is just that I am tired of being "Mudblood Granger", the Muggle-born with two dentists for parents." She rolled her eyes.

"Oh come now, it can't be bad."

"Oh no, its not. Being young again sure has its perks. But have you thought about my looks, people are going to start noticing soon. I mean all we did was reverse my age. I am still going to look like me in the end, and I know there are several portraits around here..."

"I have considered this, and I feel that we should play this off as an astonishing coincidence."

"A coincidence? Muggle-born Hermione Granger an exact replica of Rowena Ravenclaw? That's a hell of a coincidence."

"Now, now Rowena. Please don't forget your mission here."

"I know, I know. I will never forget Godric's last words to me. "Protect my heir Rowena, he is the chosen one".

"I must say I was astonished when Rowena Ravenclaw waltzed into my office some five years ago. I recall you had a hard time convincing me you were who you claimed to be".

"Oh yes." Said Rowena chucking, "I did at that. But I think my transformation made a believer out of you."

"That it did." Said Dumbledore, with a pensive look. Rowena looked around the beautifully proportioned room.

"Though I must say." Said Rowena with a nostalgic look on her face. "I was quite shocked to find that Hogwart's has not changed an inch since I had left. At first I was not sure my journey had been successful."

"Oh yes, we do believe in tradition, do we not? But back to the matter at hand, Harry."

With the mention of his name Rowena got a very defeated look on her face. "Oh god, I know. I failed him Albus. I failed him... I am so worried now..."

"You did nothing of the sort. Nobody could have been expecting that. No one could have done anything. I at least should have suspected that Alastor..."

"Stop. We will never get anywhere blaming ourselves."

Dumbledore sighed. "You are right. We must stop this nonsense. There is a matter to tend to. I fear that Harry may not be safe at the Dursley's residence. The charms protecting him there, while strong, are no match for a full-strength Voldemort."

"Do you suggest we bring him to Hogwarts for the summer?" Asked Rowena, contemplating the dilemma.

"That was my initial thought, but I fear that is exactly what the Dark Side expects us to do. I think he needs to go into hiding. Somewhere far away from here."

"Where exactly do you propose?" Asked Rowena, intrigued.

"The question is not "where", the question is "when".

A/N I would stop here but that is too short really...

"When?" Asked Rowena, startled. "Are you advising we travel through time?"

"You are quite good at wielding the powers of time."

"That is true... And it does make sense actually. Are you thinking future or past?"

Dumbledore looked up from his smoking goblet, "Oh, certainly the past, we do not know what the future holds."

Rowena started to speak but bit her tongue. "Yes, I suppose. Are you thinking we return to my time?"

"That would be conceivable. You would know what to expect and I imagine that Harry would be amused to meet the four founders of Hogwarts. Of course, he has already met one."

"But there is something we haven't discussed. Are you planning on informing Harry of my true identity?"

"No. It is too soon. He will know one day, but we are better off to delay that as long as possible. Now Miss Granger, lets take a stroll to Hogsmeade, then perhaps to Privet Drive."

* * * * * * * * * * * * *

Harry's horrible Uncle Vernon pulled their new car into the driveway at Number Four, Privet Drive. The lawn was immaculate as ever and it made Harry positively sick.

Uncle Vernon yanked open the backseat door which had been set to "child-lock" and barked, "Out you! And don't touch anywhere without newspaper."

The Dursley's had placed liberal amounts of newspaper in the backseat of the new car so Harry couldn't contaminate it. Harry rolled his eyes and stepped out. He was now two inches taller than Uncle Vernon and has decided enough was enough. Harry stepped up right from of the lump of a man and stared him down.

"Listen uncle, I appreciate the LITTLE you have done for me but hear this. I will no longer take orders from you like I'm the hired help. You will NOT lock away my school things and you will NOT torment my owl. I am not the little boy under the staircase anymore and I swear on my parents grave that if you ever speak ill of them you will find you and the rest of your miserable family living in a cave somewhere as BATS!"

Harry stepped back and waited for the reaction. But it didn't come. His Uncle seemed frozen in time; he didn't move an inch. Suddenly, Harry heard clapping to his left. He quickly looked over and discovered Dumbledore standing there, complete in shimmering blue robes embroidered with suns and moons.

"Bravo, Harry. Though I must say, you probably scared the poor man out of his wits."

But Harry wasn't looking at Dumbledore, because standing beside him was Hermione.
