Chapter 4 ~ Truth
~
"All you do is have to say three words - oh, those three strong magic words, admitting the truth within yourself. I'm giving you three seconds. Three-"
A tear slipped out of his eye and his throat tightened. Three words - three very strong words. Why am I having such a hard time saying them?
"Two..."
"Don't! I love her!" Harry yelled, slightly out of breath.
He swallowed thickly. "Happy now?" he growled through gritted teeth.
"Very. Now, let's get down to business - why don't we take a little trip to...."
The image of Luna eating breakfast faded and was replaced with a huge house. Harry's eyebrows furrowed. He had never seen this house in his life why would it be so important?
"Ah, yes, the Malfoy Manor. A family tore apart by evil deeds. Do you know who caused the family to be torn, Harry?"
Harry glared at the ceiling. "Lucius Malfoy - but what does this have to-"
"Do with you?"
Harry nodded.
"Everything, Harry, everything. Did you know that the Malfoy family used to consist of four?"
Harry shook his head. "I don't really care either."
"Draco had a brother and guess what happened to him?"
"I don't want-"
"He was killed by Aurors a summer after Draco was born and do you want to know who the Auror was who killed Sumner Waylon Malfoy?"
"I-"
"Your father, James Potter."
Harry's heart skipped a beat. "But-"
"Yes, Harry, your father was a no good murderer. I guess he hated Black Magic so much that he thought that he would try his hand at some. Did you know that Black Magic was what caused the death of Sumner Malfoy and James Potter was the last one to see him alive as a curse of torture ran through his veins?"
"But-"
"Lucius wanted revenge, Harry, he really wanted revenge. Why do you think that he despises Mudbloods and Muggle loving fools so greatly? Your father was one of them -and married one of them. Why do you think he has such a deep loathing for you, Harry?"
Harry gulped.
"Because your family has been enemies with the Malfoy family forever. Just a simple rivalry - but the day that James Potter killed Sumner, Lucius went over the edge. How do you think your grandparents died?"
Harry's eye widened.
"Lucius exacted the revenge just a mere week before your parents murder. Draco doesn't know this little story but believe me - to him, you were fresh blood when he met you on the train. Maybe he could get you on his side - you didn't know barely anything about the wizarding world. Raised by Muggles your whole life, Draco thought that he could turn you against your own. The Weasleys, the Longbottoms, the Perks, the Lovegoods, your own family. Did you think that Lucius didn't fill him in on the families that were - how should I say this? Traitors!"
Harry glared at the Malfoy Manor. "Who are you?? How do you know all of this?" Harry shouted.
"I told you Harry, I'm just a little old fly on the wall. I know everything."
"Everything? Who are you? Do I know you?" Harry asked, getting a little panicky. A fly on the wall. I can swat a fly....
"Yes, you know me. We haven't met before but you've seen me in your past. I know you may have never noticed me but you've seen me."
Harry looked around for a fly on the wall. "Where are you?"
"Everywhere, Harry, everywhere."
She was starting to scare him. He squinted up at the ceiling looking for a fly. A fly on the wall.
"Everywhere? If you're everywhere what am I doing right now?"
Harry scratched his head.
"You're scratching your head and now you're brushing your hair back."
Harry stopped and gave a really rude gesture.
"Very funny."
Harry sighed angrily. He couldn't find a fly anywhere. How was she watching him?
"Look, there's Draco. Do you see how alone he is, Harry?"
Harry turned toward the orb. Malfoy walked across the grass carrying a large bundle of white roses with a grief stricken look upon his face.
Harry's eyebrows furrowed as Malfoy continued walking, he looked very close to tears. "Why is he so sa-"
"You'll find out soon enough."
Draco stopped and smoothed back a lose piece of hair that had came loose from the gel that held it. His face zoomed into focus in the orb. He looked like he was holding back tears. "Sorry, mother, so sorry," he said, his voice cracking.
The orb zoomed out as Malfoy bent over and laid the bundle of white roses upon the grave:
Narcissa Malfoy
Loving wife and mother
December 23 1946 - July 10 1995
Harry's eyebrows furrowed. "What happened?"
"She committed suicide shortly after her husband was taken by the Dementors to Azkaban. Draco brings flowers to her grave every Sunday morning. He was the one that found her dead in front of her bathroom mirror the evening of July Tenth with a glass of liquid hemlock nearby. She was never the strong one of the family.
"Draco now lives in the Manor alone with only two house elves to keep him company. He doesn't invite people over ever; he's in too much pain to go through having company sympathize over him. Tell me, Harry, after another death do you wish you would take your dreams a bit more lightly?"
Harry swallowed a lump that had built up in his throat. "I don't know what you mean."
"Of course you do. Do you wish that you never listened to that vision of Sirius in the Department of Mysteries you had last year?"
Harry rubbed his head. "Yes."
"Why's that, Harry?"
"Sirius would still be alive," Harry answered, watching Draco pray in front of his mother's grave.
"Only Sirius?"
"An-and Narcissa." He felt lower than before as he said this.
She chuckled dangerously. "And?"
"What?" Harry's eyes widened.
"You shouldn't rely on your dreams to tell you information, Harry. You killed more than two people in the future the moment you listened to that dream. Look into the orb and tell me what you see."
