Harry heals the rift, but all is not smooth sailing; he and Ginny are still having difficulty finding time alone, and it is possible that Ron may not get the recognition he deserves because of his lycanthropy. Once back at Hogwarts, Harry is finally able to ask Myrtle about the Squibs, but her response is a complete surprise. And finally, Mariah is upset by a letter from her brother, who shows up at the school and starts turning heads.

Malfoy confronts Harry and Ginny, but why is he really following them? Ginny lands in hot water with Filch when they return to the castle, and Dumbledore sheds some light on the situation--and on the Prophecy--while also telling Harry to give Draco Malfoy the benefit of the doubt. It's time for the Easter holiday, so Hermione wants Harry and Ron to finally get serious about their N.E.W.T.s. Finally, when Nita arrives to take Harry to St. Mungo's to see Rodney Jeffries and his Aunt Petunia, he has no idea what to expect, and it's certainly not a visit from his least-favorite ex-girlfriend.

Harry thinks he is again facing a murder trial, but this time the evidence clearly shows his innocence. Ginny wants to watch Harry, Ron and Hermione take their practical NEWTs, but when it is all about to start she is nowhere to be found.

After Draco Malfoy's betrayal, Harry, Ron, Hermione and Ginny are at Voldemort's mercy. So why is Ginny trying to anger him by telling him his own secrets, gleaned from his diary?

Harry hears about the rest of the battle when he returns, and finds that Godric's Hollow wasn't the only front in the war. He must cope both with the loss of many friends and schoolmates and with the repercussions of his own sacrifice. He both feels it was the right thing to do and questions whether it was really worth it. Can it be reversed? And if it can be--should it be?

Harry learns the secret of Dumbledore's exceptional hearing and he stirs things up during the memorial, after the new Minister speaks; another lost Weasley is found and joins the wedding celebration; Draco refuses to speak to the person who pulled him out of hell, but later changes his mind; Dumbledore and Harry's closest friends learn the true nature of his sacrifice; and we say goodbye with a little note about what the characters are up to about five years into the future.
