Darkness Returns
Azkaban Riddle
- Story Summary:
- When Harry comes back to the UK and ends up at Malfoy Manor, he greets the old friends he once had and returns to the life he led twelve years ago. He always thought that the war against the Dark Side had ended forever... How wrong could he have been? Harry's old love is still alive and people are asking themselves how, when everyone present at the Final Battle saw her die? How come when the new generation of Potters, Weasleys, and Malfoys ask about the War and who Dayanne Riddle really is, they find themselves facing their elders' backs, and experiencing a change of conversation? Harry may actually not realize this yet, but this could be the start of an era worse than that of the Second War against Voldemort, thirteen years ago. Post-OotP

Darkness Returns
Chapter Two: The Problem With Malfoys and Manors
By: Azkaban Riddle
**********************
The New Malfoy Manor stood out clearly in the horizon. A black Cadilac Escalade with twenty-three inch rims and a HCCP#1 (Harry, Cho, and Cassandra Potter are #1) license plate was on the road heading towards the Malfoy Manor.
The Escalade's driver was a tall, handsome, semi-skinny man. He was wearing black robes and underneath his robes, he wore a white shirt with black trousers. The man had very untidy jet-black hair sticking up in all directions.
Behind the round glasses he wore were a pair of bright green, almond-shaped eyes identical to the pair once known as the famous Lily Potter's eyes twenty-nine years ago.
On his forehead, clearly visible through his hair, was a scar shaped like a bolt of lightning. A scar he had gotten form Lord Voldemort by being hit with the Avada Kedavra curse when he was a one-year old.
This man driving the black Cadilac Escalade was called Harry. Harry James Potter.
Harry Potter turned off the car radio.
'It's just disturbing me,' he thought. He couldn't believe that he was actually doing this, that he was actually going to go to Malfoy Manor: the last place on Earth he swore he'd ever go to, but he had to.
If he was planning to give his wife, Cho, and his daughter, Cassandra, and the other three kids what they wanted and the vacations of their dreams, he had to get promoted, and to get promoted, he had to do this, for the sake of his family, even if he didn't like it.
He parked the car at the Manor's gate. Harry Potter never dreamt of coming here again; he was numb with disbelief. He knew he was being courageous, but on the inside he was afraid- afraid of the memories that would come once he put foot on the Manor's grounds and saw the Malfoys.
Afraid especially of the memories of a woman that had been very important to him, to all of them, during the Second War, twelve years ago.
Harry reached the door and rang the bell once, or twice, or so (he was thinking too much to pay attention). Someone opened the door. It was....
Harry looked at her and thought. She looked very young- around twelve years old- too young to be her, but she looked just like her, just like Hermione. She had the same bushy and wild brown hair and large front teeth.
"Hello," said the girl. "Don't mean to be rude or anything, but what do you want?" She even had the same sort of bossy voice Hermione had when she had been young.
"What's your name?" asked Harry, curious.
"Jessiebelle Malfoy, but you can call me 'Jessie,' everyone else does," said the girl.
"Well hello, Jessie, my name is Harry Potter," Jessie's eyes went wide with disbelief, "I come from the Italian Ministry of Magic and I need to talk to Mr. and Mrs. Malfoy."
"Fine," replied Jessie. "Come in and sit down; make yourself at home . I'll tell my parents your here, but you'll have to wait a few minutes because they have a visit."
"Oh no, I'd rather- more like need- to talk to them right now. Wizards are already awaiting me with your parents' answer at the Ministry," spoke Harry.
"Okay, then. Follow me." She made a gesture for Harry to follow her inside.
Harry followed Jessie inside just as she had said. In the small entrance hall there was a rather little table with a colorful and very pretty flower bouquet. He had to admit to himself that this house was creepy. They entered a living room.
There was a brick chimney to their right and pairs of antique and very detailed sofas to their left, and there also was a pair of wooden doors to the side of the sofas. Jessie took Harry up the living room staircase and into a long hall.
On the hall's wall, there were many wizard pictures- including pictures of Hermione's and Draco's wedding together. There were also other pictures of a boy that looked identical to Draco- Harry could only assume that this was little Jonathan. Other pictures showed Jessie surrounded by Hermione, Draco, and the rest of the Malfoy family- except for Lucius Malfoy.
"How old are you?" asked Harry, curious once again.
"Oh, I'm eleven years old. I just had my birthday last month," responded Jessie.
"I pity your parents," said Harry, under his breath.
"Why?" asked Jessie. Harry, dumbfounded that she had actually heard the comment he had made under his breath, just responded with the first thing that came to his mind.
"Because when your son or daughter is finally a teenager, or about to be one, they start to rebel."
"Do you have a son or daughter?" asked Jessie, interestedly.
"I have two daughters and two sons. The oldest are Maurissa and James- their twins. Afterwards it's Cassandra and then Sirius," said Harry, distractedly.
"Oh, well, we're here," muttered Jessie. They were standing in front of another pair of big wooden doors. Harry could hear laughter and very familiar voices coming from behind these doors. Harry just wanted to do this as quickly as possible; just talk to Hermione and Draco, get their answer, and leave this creepy place without another word out of his mouth.
Harry had enough problems at work AND at home without having to visit the Malfoys, answer questions this girl- Jessie or whatever her name was- was asking him, or having to re-visit the worst memories of his life once he saw this family reunited once again....
"I'll announce you," said Jessie. She opened the door and went in the room with the familiar voices.
"Mom, Dad, there's someone here to see you," she announced to her parents.
"Let whoever it is in," responded two voices at the same time.
One, a bossy sort of voice, and the other a drawling one. Harry recognized the two voices, even after all these years, as Draco's and Hermione's.
Jessie reappeared and said, "You may come in now."
Harry walked a few strides and was through the door. He suddenly stopped completely and his eyes went wide and then narrowed with contempt and disbelief at all the people gathered in this room.
Two second ago, Harry thought things could not get worse than they already were for him.
Apparently, he was wrong.
Very wrong.
Author notes: Please review.... I'll ask nicely: pretty please? With a cherry on top? LOL! Okay, I'll admit that was stupid!
hanusia_the_romantic: Thanks for reviewing! I wrote that last chapter originally in the middle of July and I was a bit depressed. Yes, my writing turns out the best when I'm sad, so that's something we both have in common.
Just try to put yourself in a character's shoes and ask yourself questions: what would I do if I was her/him and that occured to me? How would I react to it? This helped me write Darkness Returns 01. Hope that helps you, even if it's a little bit. ;)
