Chapter 1: Search for the Horcrux

Harry couldn't believe all that he had went through the previous year at Hogwarts. He had dated Ginny, his best friend Ron's sister, who had liked Harry for many years. However, Harry had to break up to protect her from Lord Voldemort after the death of Albus Dumbledore, the greatest headmaster of all time at Hogwarts. Dumbledore's death haunted Harry ever since he left Hogwarts. His scar ached as the scene played in his mind for the thousandth time. A jet of green light erupting from Snape's wand and hitting Dumbledore, killing him instantly. Professor Snape had escaped however, and perhaps disappeared forever. Harry loathed Snape with all his heart and wished that he could have stopped him, if only he could have saved Dumbledore. And now, Harry was all alone standing at the graves of his parents at Godric's Hallow, the very place they were murdered by Voldemort when Harry was a mere infant. Voldemort was the darkest wizard of the ages and was spoken of often now that he had returned. He was the one who had destroyed all that Harry held close, the one who killed his parents and was destroying the world now, with his grand army of werewolves, inferi, giants, and death eaters. The only way to stop him now is to find the remaining horcruxes, the ancient artifacts in which Voldemort's soul resided. Two of the seven had already been destroyed. The diary, which was destroyed during Harry's second year at Hogwarts, and Marvelo's ring, destroyed by Dumbledore in Harry's sixth year. He had finally discovered the real locket that had been taken by Regulus Black and hidden at Number Twelve Grimmauld Place. There it was hidden by Kreacher, the old mud-blood hating house elf. Harry had quickly destroyed the locket, only with the help of Hermione with the advanced spell. His hand was now scarred from destroying the horcrux, similar to when Dumbledore's hand was blackened. He was now in search of a cup that once belonged to Hepzibah Smith. Harry had a hunch to where it was....This meant; he'd have to return to Hogwarts, one last time.

"Zacharius Smith! Give me Helga Hufflepuff's cup!" yelled Harry, bursting into the Hufflepuff common room. (He had snuck into the common room under his invisibility cloak when others were entering).

"Harry, what in the bloody hell are you talking about?" asked Zacharius, who was shocked to see Harry there.

"You know what I want, Smith. The cup that's been passed through your family, whose bloodline can be traced back to the founder of Hufflepuff!"

Zacharius reached into his trunk, unfolded several shirts and then revealed an old cup with a badger on it, the same one Harry had seen in the pensieve.

"Why do you want it anyways?"

"I need it to destroy Voldemort!" exclaimed Harry. Looking at the puzzled expression on Zacharius' face, Harry said, "Look, I don't have time to explain, just give me the cup! Precious time is escaping us every second!"

"But this contains some special power, and me mum would throw a fit if she knew I had given it away."

"If you don't give it to me," began Harry, "I'll have to take it forcefully." He raised his wand and pointed it in his face.

"Harry, put the wand down!"

"Terribly sorry, but you aren't cooperating!"

"Impedimenta!"

Zacharius remained motionless as if he had frozen in time. Harry quickly seized the cup and disappeared under his invisibility cloak, exiting the common room. Two other Hufflepuffs, Ernie Macmillan and Hannah Abbott entered the common room and freed Zacharius from the spell. "Who did this to you?" they asked. "Harry, Harry Potter!"

Chapter 2: Inferi and Dementors

"Harry? Blimey, you came back! I knew you would, Harry!" exclaimed Ron as he awoke from his sleep in the Gryffindor tower.

"Shhh, Ron, I need you to come with me. I need your help to find the remaining horcruxes!"

"Well, what are we waiting for, let's go!"

As the two of them were about to exit the common room, three figures appeared out of the darkness. "Did you really think you were going to leave unnoticed," said a familiar voice. Standing beside Harry and Ron was now Neville, Hermione, and Ginny. "We're coming too Harry. And don't say it's too dangerous for us. We know what's at stake and we're willing to assist you in any way possible!" said Ginny, softly kissing Harry on the lips.

"Alright, but first I need to destroy the cup somehow."

"Reducto!" screamed Ginny.

Nothing happened to the cup. All of them looked hopefully at Hermione, who didn't seem to know how to destroy it either. She tried the same curse as she did on the locket, but oncemore, not even a scratch on the cup was made.

"Maybe it needs some darker magic to destroy it," suggested Ron.

Harry gulped, and then said hesitantly, "Avada Kedavra!"

A spark of green emitted from Harry's wand, but then disappeared easily.

"You need to think bad thoughts Harry, like the opposite of a Patronus Charm!" said Hermione.

Harry's mind raced, seeing the death of his parents, Cedric, Sirius, and Dumbledore flash before his eyes. He saw Dudley stealing his food and bringing his gang to fight him. Then he saw Snape, glaring at him under his greasy hair and Umbridge as she smiled malevolently at the words cut into Harry's hand. Anger bubbled up inside him and without another thought, shouted, "Avada Kedavra" once more.

This time a long jet of green light erupted from Harry's wand and hit the cup at dead center. It glowed an eerie greenish color and then silvery objects began to emerge from the cup. Within seconds, the silvery objects which were ghosts, began taking on more human characteristics and then, became Inferi. Dead, ghoulish corpses surrounded all five of them just as the Inferi had done when Harry was searching for the locket in the cave.

"Incendio!" bellowed Harry as flames burst from his wand and scattered the Inferi. "Quick, all of you get out before they regroup!"

The other four rushed out of the portrait hole, which rudely awakened the Fat Lady. Harry was close behind, with Inferi following him out of the room. "Accio Firebolt!" he yelled. His broom came sweeping down the hall, stopping a few feet in front of Harry. He jumped on and followed the others, leaving the Inferi in the dust.

As he caught up with the others, he said, "You four get on brooms (Hermione and Neville gave each other nervous looks) and get out of the castle as fast as you can! I'm going to warn Headmaster McGonagall about the Inferi!"

In a flash he flew off through the corridors, heading for the office of the new headmaster. He arrived at the rotating gargoyle soon after and realized that he hadn't been told the new password. He would just have to leave her a message. With his wand, he etched into the wall, 'Inferi in the castle'. Soon after, he left and rejoined the others.

"Luna??? What are you doing here?" asked Harry.

"I saw those four fly out of the castle, so I decided that I wanted to come too," she said in her usual dreamy voice.

"Alright, but we need to leave now," said Harry. "Voldemort is gathering more followers by the minute.

"Harry, where exactly are we going?" asked Hermione.

"I-I-" Harry tried to speak, but words had escaped him.

Above them, thousands of dementors were floating towards the castle. The air suddenly got cold, and the skies blackened significantly. All the students on the grounds looked up to the sky where the black figures hovered. Without warning, the dementors swooped down and began attacking students.

"You know what we've got to do," said Harry.

The other five nodded and got their wands out. With their training from Dumbledore's Army, they were able to easily produce a Patronus now, the spell that would ward off the dementors. Silvery creatures exploded out of their wands and charged the dementors away from several first years.

"There's too many of them!" yelled Neville.

Harry wanted to argue, but he couldn't help notice that they were greatly outnumbered and didn't stand a chance. "We have to get to the gates and then apparate. Ginny, you can apparate alongside me. Let's go!"

The six of them returned to their brooms and sped towards the main gate. Dementors were swarming around them, but Harry's group continued to fight them off with Patronuses.

"Oh no, Harry! Hagrid!" shouted Hermione.

Harry looked over and spotted Hagrid outside his cabin, surrounded by at least ten dementors. Hagrid tried to fight them off with his umbrella, but his Patronus charm wasn't strong enough.

"We can't stop, we'll never make it out alive!" said Harry.

Hermione began to cry as she continued to follow Harry out of the grounds. "We can't just leave him like that mate, he'll die!" said Ron. "I'll go!" said Luna.

Without Harry having a chance to argue, Luna separated from the pack and headed towards Hagrid. But by the time Luna reached them, it was too late. Hagrid had already gotten his soul sucked out by the dementor's kiss. Luna stood there in shock, as the dementors overtook her. She couldn't produce a Patronus now, not after seeing Hagrid like that. She tried to think of something happy, but now she was cold, afraid, and lonely. A dementor lowered its hood and kissed her too.

"Do you think they'll be alright?" asked Ginny, trying to look back at the scene.

"I sure hope so," said Harry.

They finally arrived at the gate, jumping off their brooms. "Alright, on the count of three, we'll be at the ministry of magic," said Harry.

"One, two, THREE!"

Chapter 3: At the Ministry, Again

As Harry recovered from the exasperating feeling of apparition, he looked around at the Ministry of Magic. It was dark and empty, just as it had been two years ago when Harry tried to save Sirius and retrieve the prophecy. "Lumos," said Harry, as well as the four others by his side. Just then, a figure appeared from the shadows. Harry quickly pointed his wand at the face of the figure, revealing its identity.

The man standing there was none other than Cornelius Fudge, the ex-Minister of Magic. He looked even older and more weary now these days as if he had gone through many tragedies since his days at the Ministry.

"It's too late, Harry Potter," he spat. "Voldemort is here waiting for you, and it appears that you are three horcruxes too short!" laughed Fudge malevolently.

"Bloody hell," said Ron. "He's under the Imperious Curse!"

Before Harry could do anything else, he and his friends were surrounded by death eaters. Alongside them stood the Dark Lord Voldemort, looking just as evil and snake-like as ever. Voldemort had even brought Nagini, his pet snake along, to watch. Harry's scar twinged with pain as he stared into the slits of Voldemort's eyes.

"Harry Potter, at last we meet again. I see you brought your mudblood and blood traitor friends with you. No matter, they will all be killed, just as you are. Tonight, you will die Harry Potter, and there's no one to stop me now!" Voldemort's voice echoed through the hall in which they were standing. His little speech was followed by the laughs of the many death eaters surrounding him. Harry didn't see however, two people that should have been there. Apparently absent were Wormtail and Snape.

"Who should I kill first?" said Voldemort. "The Weasley boy or maybe the girl? The young Longbottom or the pathetic mudblood Granger?"

"Don't touch them!" Harry yelled.

"Ahhh, so brave and foolish Harry. You can't save your friends though. They will die, Harry, all of them will die! But I however, will live on forever now that my Horcruxes are safely hidden."

It was a trap and Harry knew it. Within seconds his mind was penetrated by Voldemort, and he could see everything clearly. Images flashed before Harry's eyes, revealing the cup and the locket, as well as the ring and the diary. Harry returned to his senses, his scar aching worse than ever before.

"So you've destroyed four so far! I can always count on you to give me the answers I want Harry. Should have listened to Snape and continued occlumency. He has unfortunately been using it on me for years now. Not even my skills with legilimens could penetrate his mind. However that is not important. Prepare to die, friends of Harry Potter! Avada Kedavra!"

Just then, three bodies appeared in front of them and grabbed their arms. Harry vanished into thin air with the rest of them, as Voldemort's spell hit a window and shattered the glass.

Chapter 4: The Hated and the Merciful

Harry reappeared seconds later at the graveyard in which Voldemort had been brought back to life. Standing by his side was Hermione, Neville, Ron, and Ginny as well as the three people who had apparated and disapparated in time to save them from the killing curse.

Harry couldn't believe his eyes. Standing by his side was three people he had an intense dislike of. The rescuers had been Severus Snape, Wormtail, and Draco Malfoy. But why would they save him and his friends? They were all servants to the Dark Lord, yet they saved him.

"Look Potter," said Snape. "Don't go try killing us all. We're here to help you, believe it or not."

"Liar!" yelled Harry. "You killed Dumbledore and you expect me to forgive you? And you, Malfoy let all those death eaters into Hogwarts! And Wormtail, you brought back Voldemort three years ago in this very spot!"

"Honestly Harry, I don't have time for this. Voldemort will be back any second. I am loyal to Dumbledore and always will be. He told me that I must kill him to protect Draco here from the Dark Lord. He has been staying with me and Wormtail, hidden from Voldemort. And I do believe Wormtail owes you a life debt for saving him from Sirius and Remus?" said Snape lazily.

"Well, yes, but--" began Harry.

"There are no buts Potter. Either you accept our help, or we can send you back to die by the wand of Voldemort. Now listen to me, and listen closely!" yelled Snape.

"This is just another trick of Voldemort's! Crucio!" exclaimed Harry, pointing his wand at Snape.

Snape blocked the spell with a flick of his wand and then said, "Silencio!"

Harry tried to fight the curse, but he could no longer speak.

"Fudge and the dementors have captured all of the remaining members of the Order of the Phoenix and they are currently trapped in Azkaban, surrounded by millions of dementors. There is no hope for those trapped to escape, unless Voldemort is killed. And he will not be killed until the remaining horcruxes are destroyed. Clearly, you are in need of assistance and have failed to find the last three horcruxes. That is why Dumbledore chose me to protect you and aid you in any way possible. It has come to my attention that Nagini is a horcrux and must be destroyed before the last piece in Voldemort's soul is vanquished. There is however one remaining horcrux that I cannot find, nor can anyone else. Our only hope is that we find that horcrux before Voldemort finds us," said Snape.

The curse was finally released and Harry could speak again. No words escaped his mouth though before Voldemort and all his death eaters reappeared in the graveyard. Flashes of green light were shot at Snape, Ron, Hermione, Neville, and Ginny, barely missing them. Harry tried to apparate, as did the others but it appeared as if Voldemort had performed a silent anti-apparition curse. They were stuck here now and they were going to die.

Chapter 5: The Final Battle

"Well, well, Severus, you've appeared to me at last. I should have known that Dumbledore chose you to protect Harry. As for you Wormtail, you will die for betraying your allegiance! And Draco, clever Draco. You will die as well, for cowardice and inability to kill Dumbledore!"
"Kill me first then," said Wormtail. "I have a debt to settle with Harry. Avada Kedavra!"

Wormtail did not aim his wand at Voldemort, but instead he shot the jet of green light at Nagini, who was one of the seven horcruxes. The snake's eyes froze and sank to the back of its head, as its scaly body lay on the ground, motionless. Voldemort then returned the favor to Wormtail by killing him as well.

"Foolish, Wormtail was. I still have two horcruxes left! And it appears as though you haven't found them yet, Potter. Pity, isn't it?"

"Crucio!" Harry yelled, pointing his wand directly at Voldemort.

"Avada Kedavra!" Voldemort shouted at the same time.

The spells met in mid-air just as they had after Voldemort's return. Ghostly shapes appeared from the wand, showing those who were killed. Harry saw surrounding him, was Wormtail, Cedric, and Harry's parents, along with other numerous wizards that Harry didn't know.

"Harry, you must sacrifice yourself," began a ghost of his mother. "Voldemort accidentally shattered a piece of his soul, which lives in you the night that he killed us. That is why you two have that connection of mind, and how you can speak parseltounge. Release your soul Harry, and join us, and Sirius, and Dumbledore. Only then can you stop the Dark Lord."

They all disappeared back into the spells and Harry looked into the eyes of Voldemort. He separated the connection and stepped back a few paces. "Ginny, I love you," Harry said, kissing her. Letting go of Ginny's trembling body, he pointed his wand directly at his scar and said confidently, "Avada Kedavra!"

He dropped down onto the ground, where Ginny threw her body over Harry's dead corpse. Voldemort looked stunned, and then quickly disapparated. Before he vanished, he said, "Kill them."

The anti-apparating curse was lifted and soon Severus Snape was gone too. This left Draco, Hermione, Ron, Neville, and Ginny to face the remaining death eaters. Ginny was crying uncontrollably, as were the rest of them. Harry Potter was gone. He was dead! Neville returned Ginny to her feet and all of them raised their wands. They would fight to the death, and sacrifice themselves just as Harry had done.

Bellatrix Lestrange appeared in front of the crowd, along with Lucious Malfoy. They appeared shocked and afraid. They were not to follow their master though. They had clearly been given directions to stay and kill Harry's friends.

"Malfoy, get over here where you belong. Standing next to that filth is unbelievable. You are pureblood and you are in service to the Dark Lord! Morsmordre!"

The Dark Mark appeared in the sky, with a slithering snake crawling out from the mouth of the skull. "I will never join you father. You are a killer, murdering innocent lives, all of you! I thought it would be fun serving the Dark Lord until last year. It nearly killed me to do so, though. I used to want to be like you father and follow in your footsteps, but I realize now that I was wrong!" said Draco.

"Avada Kedavra!"

Draco stood there in shock as his father collapsed to the ground. Bellatrix gave a shriek and backed away from them. Ron had killed Lucious, which apparently, nobody had expected. "That's for being a git towards my family," said Ron. Hermione gasped loudly and embraced Ron in a large hug. "That was brilliant!" said Hermione, kissing Ron on the lips.

Neville however seized the moment to get his revenge as well. He cast the cruciatus curse upon Bellatrix Lestrange and tortured her just as she tortured his parents. The remaining death eaters scattered in fear, never to return to fight these kids that had thrice defied them.

"Honestly Ron, if you had just told me how you felt ages ago," said Hermione, who was still locked onto Ron. "Same goes to you," said Ron.

Neville stopped and stared at Bellatrix. What was he doing? He was just as bad as she was. He belonged in Azkaban as well. "We're not killers, you guys!" said Neville uncomfortably. "We're lovers. We fight for what's good, and killing these people won't make anything better."

Ron and Hermione stopped snogging and nodded in agreement. Even Malfoy, who used to treat them all like dirt agreed. "Come on, you four, we've got some innocent lives to break out of Azkaban!" said Neville, grabbing Ginny off of Harry's lifeless body. He held her close to him and comforted her, as the five of them apparated, leaving Bellatrix tortured to insanity and Harry Potter, the Boy who Lived, lying on the ground in the graveyard, dead.

At the gates of Hogwarts, Voldemort reappeared, panicking for the first time in his life. "I cannot die! I must live forever! Live and become more powerful than any other wizard in the world! I need more Horcruxes!"

"I'm afraid you won't be killing anyone else," said Severus Snape, appearing before the Dark Lord. "The time has finally come for a world without pain and suffering!"

"But you need another horcrux to be destroyed before you can get to me first!" cackled Voldemort.

"I don't believe so, the diary, the ring, the locket, the cup, Nagini, and Harry have all been destroyed. The only part of your soul that remains is the one inside your body. And I suggest you treasure it while it lasts!"

"Avada-" began Voldemort.

"EXPELLIARMUS!" roared Snape, seizing Voldemort's wand.

"I think you should die by your own wand, so the whole world thinks you've given up and killed yourself. Or perhaps, by this wand," said Snape, pulling a wand out of his robes. "How did you take Harry Potter's wand?" asked Voldemort in disbelief.

"By a simple summoning charm, Tom. Any last words?"

"No? Well, then, AVADA KEDAVRA!"

Green light shot out of the tip of Harry Potter's wand and struck Voldemort right where his heart should have been. The Dark Lord then collapsed at the foot of Hogwarts, defeated at last. Within seconds, the skies cleared and all the dementors vanished from sight. A painful prickling sensation filled Snape's arm as he saw the mark of Voldemort disappear. Voldemort was gone for good.

Chapter 6: The Survivors

Hogwarts remained open forevermore, with all posts filled without the least bit of difficulty. After all, everyone wanted to work at the school in which Harry Potter, the boy who vanquished the Dark Lord, had been a student. (Nobody ever knew that Snape had finished him off, but Snape didn't want anyone to know. In fact he often told how Harry dueled Voldemort to the death, and they were both finished off). And now, the Defense Against the Dark Arts post was no longer cursed. In fact, the same teacher taught there for many years now. His name was Ronald (in memory of Harry's friend, who was happily married to Hermione Granger) S. (standing for Sirius) Potter (for the surname of the greatest wizard of all time), the son of Harry Potter, and Ginny Weasley. Ginny became an Auror and vowed to fight off any dark wizards that tried to follow in Voldemort's footsteps. Under her watch, nobody would escape her deadly Bat-bogey hex.

As for the headmaster, the post was willingly taken by Neville Longbottom, who also taught Herbology down by the greenhouses. He was also head of Hufflepuff, even though he had not been one himself. Head of Gryffindor was Ronald Weasley, who also taught Transfiguration. Ravenclaw was lead by Cho Chang who always officiated Quidditch matches. As for the head of Slytherin, Draco Malfoy took over. He also took the teaching position of potions. And Hermione, of course, taught Arithmacy. (Hermione, Ginny, Neville, Ron, and Malfoy had all become famous in helping in the defeat of the Dark Lord and they all had bright shiny trophies in the trophy room with their names on it). The rest of the teaching positions were filled by half-bloods, mud-bloods, purebloods, ghosts, werewolves, half-giants, and centaurs. After all, I didn't matter where you came from; it just matters about the love inside of you.
