A Different Life

Lily and James Potter had a daughter instead of a son. When they died, Dumbledore left the baby, Bethany Lily, at the Dursleys'. However, Vernon did not want a freak in his home and Petunia didn't really want to have anything to do with her sister's child. Beth was left on the steps of an apartment bulding. In the morning, the residents discovered the baby and wondered what to do. One of the tenants happened to be a single witch named Natalia Harper and recognized Bethany. She decided to adopt the child and Bethany grew up as Bethany Lily Potter-Harper. Eventually, Beth attends Hogwarts with her best friend and makes four other friends. Beth visits her relatives and Dumbledore discovers that she isn't at the Dursleys.

Sirius had his trial and with Remus, gets to meet Beth.

Beth and Hermione get their Hogwarts letter and go to Diagon Alley to buy their school supplies. They meet Neville Longbottom and find him nice, so offer to be friends with him.

Beth leaves for Hogwarts with Hermione. On the Hogwarts Express, they meet up with Neville and become friends with Ron Weasley. Draco Malfoy turns up during the ride, but after talking with Beth, is forced to rethink his views.

The Sorting and feast occurs. Beth and her friends end up in the houses they want, and one surprising Sorting happens.

Classes start and Beth finds most of them interesting. She and Hermione come up with an idea for a study group.

Meetings of the study group happen and Beth gets to know Draco better. The first flying class occurs and Beth ends up saving Neville.

Beth has Quidditch practice. On Halloween, Quirrell announces the troll. Since Hermione had gone to the bathroom when this is announced, Beth, Ron, Neville, Draco, and Susan Bones goes to warn her. They end up saving her from the troll and the six of them form a very close friendship.

The six friends decide to call themselves the Junior Marauders. Beth plays in her first Quidditch match, with her adoptive mother, Sirius, and Remus in attendance. The Junior Marauders realize that Quirrell is up to no good and look for Nicolas Flamel.

Beth celebrates the Christmas holidays. A party is held on Boxing Day, with Beth's friends attending, and Draco manages to attend as well without his parents knowing about it.

Beth returns to Hogwarts. Her adoptive twin siblings, named Katherine and Christopher, are born. The Junior Marauders start studying for the exams on Hermione's insistence and find out about what Hagrid is hiding. In the process of helping Hagrid, Beth, Hermione, Draco, and Neville are caught and serve their detention.

Beth takes her exams. After, the Junior Marauders go through to the trapdoor and Beth succeeds in stopping Quirrell. The end-of-year feast is held and the House Cup awarded in a surprising way. The Junior Marauders discover that they all did well in the exams and then head home for the summer holidays.

Lucius Malfoy is angry with Draco's behavior and punishes Draco with a caning and confining him to his room until he can leave for Durmstrang. Draco frees Dobby several hours later and with Dobby's help, runs away from home and goes to live with Beth and her family.

The Junior Marauders meet at Ron's house and are introduced to Ginny. Draco's situation is briefly discussed and the morning is spent teaching Neville to fly.

Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy agree to disown Draco, but not before sending him a Howler first. Beth introduces her adoptive cousin, Evanna, to Ginny, and the two girls become friends. Dobby warns Sirius and Natalia Black about the plot that's going to happen at Hogwarts.

Beth and Neville celebrate their birthdays. The Junior Marauders and their families go to Diagon Alley to buy school supplies and has a run-in with Gilderoy Lockhart in Flourish and Blotts. Lucius Malfoy shows up, but leaves after Sirius threatens him.

The Junior Marauders leave for Hogwarts and during the train ride, Ginny and Evanna become friends with Colin Creevy and Luna Lovegood. Beth and Neville get to know Colin and Luna somewhat. The Junior Marauders find out about thestrals. The Sorting and Feast is held and Ginny's Sorting is surprising.
