Valentine
I watched her move across the library to one of the tables. She set her things down and then began chatting excitedly about something. She was sitting with him, which didn't quite surprise me. He just looked up at her, murmured something, then returned to ignoring her as he usually did. He's not worthy of her. I swear she could have thrown herself in front of the git, and he'd never notice. I can't explain my feelings for her. Me being who I am, and her,...her of all people. When I saw her go to a different table, I casually stood and went to where her things were sitting on a chair. I dropped the envelope on her bag. I stood near her chair for a moment, browsing the shelves so I wouldn't look obvious. Then I turned to see I was getting a suspiscious look from him, and the rest of them. But fortunately I got out of there before they could question me, or throw some lame insult my way. I returned to my seat, and flipped through a book that I wasn't even paying any attention to. Watching. Waiting. After a few minutes, she returned to her seat. She lifted the bag, and the envelope dropped to the floor. She leaned down and picked it up. She read her name on the front and my breath caught in my throat. She looked around to see if it was a prank or something, I stared down at my book, trying to look anonymous. She must not have seen anything alluding to a sender, so she opened it. My hands started to shake as she read. I could see her mouth quietly reading each word. I had poured my heart and soul into that letter. I hope she understands. She finished and she showed it to a few of them. Her smile had become brighter...I loved that smile. A few of them read it and laughed. They teased her about her "secret admirer". My love was no joke. I hadn't signed it because I wasn't mentally able to write my own name. It was like something inside me still didn't want her to know. Then she did something that made me bite my lip and really truly fight from running over there and grabbing it from her and ripping it into a thousand pieces. She showed it to him.

It was just a regular day. At least she thought so anyway. She followed her friends to the library, hoping he would be there. She wanted to ask him to the Valentines ball that Hogwarts would be having for the first time. It was open to all years and everyone wanted to bring someone, so the pressure was on to find a date. She casually set her things down and began to talk about the dance near him, so he might get the hint. He looked up and said, "I don't think I'm going. It'll probably be like every ball we've ever had." She hadn't heard all of what he'd said and she wanted to see who else was going. She walked over to where some of her other friends were sitting and talking about their dress robes for the ball. She casually struck up a conversation. She talked for a minute or two, then went back to where she was sitting. She grabbed up her bag, fully prepared to do her homework, when something landed at her feet. She picked it up, and realized it was a letter or something with her name on it. She read it carefully as if trying to memorize each word. She looked around hoping someone would smile or snicker, but nobody did. There was no name, so she decided she'd show her friends, maybe they'd recognize the handwriting. They all laughed, but she couldn't. She went back to her table where he was reading, and she cleared her throat. He looked up and she slid the letter across the table. He read it as carefully as she, and then looked up at her puzzled. She struggled to speak but when the words didn't come out he interrupted,
"Who's it from?" he asked nonchalantly.
"I don't know...I guess I was wondering if..." she trailed off and a smirk slowly formed on his face. "You were wondering if I sent it to you? I would never write anything like that to you. In fact I don't know who would," he said blatantly. Her lip quivered as she grabbed the letter from him and stormed out. Someone followed after her....

I couldn't believe what I had seen. The bastard had made her cry. I followed her out of the library. I called her name and she stopped. She had an amazed look on her sweet face.
I didn't even recognize the sound of my own voice when I said, "I guess you were wondering who wrote that...huh?" Her mouth hung open, but I continued, "Well I did. I know were completely different. Were in opposing houses and everything, but I can't really explain it." I nervously adjusted my glasses.
There was a long awkward silence and then she spoke up, her voice sounding hoarse, "You wrote this for me?" I smiled slightly, I must have looked really nervous because that's what I was.
"Yeah, I did," I said.
She smiled and asked slowly, "Did you...did you mean it? What you wrote I mean?"
I wiped my sweaty palms on my robes and said, "Yeah, every word." The reaction I got was completely unexpected. Instead of laughing, or smacking me, she threw her arms around my neck and hugged me. She sobbed softly into my robes. I put my arms around her carefully and she spoke softly into my ear.
"Thank you, Harry. I would love to be your valentine." I sighed somewhat relieved, and then she kissed me. She gave me one last smile before disappearing down the hall. I leaned back against the wall still wondering how I fell in love with Pansy Parkinson.
