Unexplainable Chapter 2

Ginny was hurrying down the corridor when she saw Draco up ahead. Shit, he was arguing with Harry, Ron and Hermione. She looked around, not wanting to be seen. Slipping behind a statue, she saw and heard what unfolded next. She gasped as Professor Moody transfigured him, bouncing him off the floor. Tears formed in her eyes. Helpless, she watched Professor Moody drag Draco off to the dungeons. Realizing she was going to be late, she waited until everyone was gone and hurried to her next class.

After rushing through lunch, Ginny hurried to the Owlery. She was hoping to send Draco a message to meet her later. She hoped he wasn't too badly injured after his 'punishment'. To her surprise Draco was already there. She looked around to be sure they were the only ones there before rushing to him.

"Are you okay?" She put her hand on his arm, her eyes full of concern.

"I'm fine. Meet me in the library tonight after dinner?"

"Of course I will. Did you go to Madame Pomfrey yet?"

"No, I'll explain everything later. I had best go before someone catches us together. Don't worry about me Ginevra." Draco slipped out the door after ensuring no one was in the hallway.

Ginny was near tears. Slowly she made her way to class. She hoped someone would let her borrow their notes because she only caught about half of what she should have. "Colin, wait up please."

"What do you need Ginny?"

"Can I borrow your notes? I didn't get everything written down. I will get them to you at dinner."

"Sure, here you go. See you at dinner."

"Thanks Colin." Ginny had a free period, which she used to copy her notes and homework assignment. She made decent headway on the homework before her last class of the day. Dropping her bag off in her dorm, she went to dinner. Not the least bit hungry, she pushed the food around on her plate. Colin stopped by to get his notes and sat further down the table. Ginny ate alone, as was her habit. She felt eyes on her. Looking up she saw Draco watching her. Giving him a smile she got up to leave. She would have to get to the library early enough to find a secluded spot, defiantly away from the sections Hermione would frequent.

After retrieving her bag in Gryffindor tower, she made her way back down to the library. Skirting around the edge, in hopes nobody saw her; she finally found a quite corner that wasn't visible from the rest of library. Most importantly it was far away from the books she new Hermione needed for her S.P.E.W. project. Pulling out her homework, she quickly finished her essay for History of Magic and moved on to her Potions homework. Draco arrived limping, not too long after. He sat down gingerly.

"Are you sure you don't want to go to the Hospital Wing," she whispered.

"It wouldn't do me any good. Madame Pomfrey has let it be known that she won't put up with students hexing each other in the hallways. Seeing as I started it, she would probably refuse to heal me."

Ginny reached across the table to take his hand, "I know a little healing magic; do you want me to do it?"

He held her hand as if it was his lifeline, "No I will be fine in a couple of days. How is it you know healing magic anyway?"

"I have six older brothers," she said ruefully.

Draco smiled, he felt better already. Ginevra had that affect on him. If only he could see her more often. Not that he wanted to be her boyfriend, he assured himself. She was just a genuine friend, the first one he has ever had. How awful was that? Draco would rather not dwell on that though. "At least I didn't get detention. Professor Snape said I had been punished enough. I am just grateful he isn't owling my father, that I can do without."

Ginny noticed he closed himself off when he mentioned his father. Was his home life really that bad? She couldn't ask him, his day had been bad enough already.

"Well, since you don't have Quidditch practices this year, I was thinking we could meet up." She realized how that sounded, "If that is okay with you."

"It is fine; do you want to take a walk?"

"Not tonight, you need to rest."

"Yes mom," he teased her.

Ginny muffled her laughter, not wanting to be caught making too much noise. That defiantly would be bad.

"So who do you think the Hogwarts champion will be?"

"Oh I don't know. As long as it isn't one of my brothers I will be happy."

"You don't want a Gryff to be champion?"

"It doesn't matter to me, as long as it all goes smoothly and everyone lives through it."

They moved on to other topics. They both finished up their homework, realizing it was almost curfew. "I had best go, I have to make it all the way up to the Tower before curfew. Owl me when you would like to meet next," she said as she slipped everything back into her bag.

Draco grabbed her hand, "Leave your dorm window open, okay?"

"Squeezing his hand, she said, "Sure I will. See you soon Draco."
