Change of Hearts

Chapter 11

"Let's go to Hogsmeade," Draco whined for the 20th time that day. Exams had just ended and there was nothing to do for two whole weeks.

"Alright," Harry sighed, finally giving in. "Friday night."

"Friday? That's like four days away!"

"Do you ever stop complaining? I agreed didn't I?"

"Yes, but-"

"But what, Draco? Why do you want to go so badly and why can't it wait until Friday? I've got things to do this week."

"Sorry! Is it a crime to want to spend an evening with my boyfriend? Merlin, Harry, you're doing it again. You're pulling away from me. Why?"

"I don't want to talk about it."

"That's not the first time you've told me that. Give me a better fucking reason! I deserve one."

"No you don't! What you deserve is to have someone in your life who loves you and you have that."

"Please, Harry, tell me?" He felt tears in burn his eyes. "Fuck," he muttered looking up and blinking them back. Don't cry, he told himself. Don't you dare fucking cry.

"I cant," Harry answered softly pulling Draco into his arms. "Not yet."

Finally Friday came and Harry led his leather-clad boyfriend up the streets of Hogsmeade to the coffee shop Cho had introduced him to in fifth year.

Harry found he couldn't keep his eyes off of Draco. Sure, he looked really hot and sexy all the time, but in those leather pants, and that leather trench coat, damn. More than damn, there was no word. Where did he even get clothes like that? He doesn't do anything Muggle. Ever.

They talked about just about everything while they sipped their hot coffee, all the while staying away from the subject of Harry's distant behavior.

It was dark by the time they left the little shop, tracing the path to Hogwarts.

They were passing the post office when a tall dark shadow crossed their path.

"Well, well, thank you, Draco," the voice of Lucius Malfoy drawled. "Just as I asked. You surprise me."

Harry looked between his boyfriend and the Death Eater, something trying to breach the surface of his consciousness. "What is he talking about, Draco," he asked.

"A favor I asked of my son, Potter," Lucius answered instead. "Now, prepare to die."

He raised his wand and opened his mouth but before he could speak, Lupin Apparated shouting "Not so fast, Malfoy!"

Out of nowhere, Death Eaters and Order members appeared, shouting curses at eachother. A Death Eater Apparated holding one Pansy Parkinson.

"Surrender, Potter," Lucius bargained. "Surrender or the girl dies."

"Don't you hurt her!" Draco shouted.

"I don't have much patience, Potter," he sighed. "Crucio," he said with his wand pointed at Pansy.

She screamed. "No," Draco yelled lunging at his father. He pulled his father's arm away and was pushed to the ground.

Two Death Eaters grabbed Draco's arms and held him in place while Lucius preformed the curse on him.

"Stop it!" Harry and Pansy yelled.

Lucius lifted the curse. "Well, well, well, you do have feelings for my son. Avada Kedavra," Lucius hissed, his wand pointed at Harry.

Pansy broke free of her captor and jumped in front of Harry just in time. Draco shouted something and broke free, killing his father before dropping to Pansy's side.

Harry dropped to his knees as fighting broke out. Harry stared at her lifeless body. Why? Why the hell would she give her life for Harry's?

Draco looked up at him. "I didn't know," he whispered. "I swear to God I didn't know." He repeated the same words over and over, rocking back and forth staring at Pansy.

Harry was brought back to reality and shock turned to anger. "Then why did she do it?" he asked bitterly. "What did your dad mean? What is going on?"

"I don't know, Harry," he shouted. "I don't know," he whispered.

"Answer me."

"I don't know why my father said those things, Harry they're not true. And Pansy only wanted me to be happy. She loved me so much, and I never--I never--never once told her how much she meant to me," he sobbed.

Someone pulled Harry up off of the ground. He looked back and saw it was Lupin.

"I'm taking you both back to Hogwarts, now," he said pulling Draco up by the collar of his trench. "How dare you leave the school grounds, especially at night!"

Harry looked around. Five Death Eaters and four Order members lay motionless on the ground. Everyone else had Disapparated, someone taking Pansy's body with them.
