Change of Hearts

Chapter 9

Draco was glad to be back at Hogwarts, but one thing nagged at him constantly. Who told his father? Who informed the asshole about his bringing Harry to the Slytherin common room?

Who gives a damn if my father knows, he thought bitterly while lying awake.

*****

Harry, too, lay awake all night. Ron had just got back, as did Dean and Seamus. Neville would be staying until the very last minuet. His parents' condition had started to reverse, or so Neville said in a letter he sent when he asked that Harry or someone tell McGonagall about why he wasn't back with the rest of the school.

But that wasn't what was keeping Harry awake.

He loved Draco. He just realized it. There was an unspoken agreement that Harry didn't love Draco, no matter how much Draco did Harry. But how do you not fall for someone you spend that much time with in that intimate manor?

Harry and the rest of Hogwarts knew Draco loved Harry, even Dean had said so. But, as Dean had also said, no one knew how Harry felt. No one, not one...until now.

*****

Three weeks later, after breaking the news to the Gryffindors about their relationship, they were trying to study. It was one of the few evenings they could spend together, and they were both getting very behind in their studies.

Fat chance.

They couldn't keep their hands off eachother, so they separated themselves Harry on one side, Draco on the other. But even this desperate attempt to finish their essays wasn't working.

Draco kept staring at his punked-out boyfriend. His baggy pants and chains, his luxurious silk shirts.... It's enough to make any boyfriend...well, uncomfortable.

He'd long forgotten his potions essay.

Harry looked up and Draco looked down at his essay. Funny, he thought. That's the wrong title.... He chuckled as he spelled the ink away and fixed it.

Harry sat down across from him. Draco smiled and looked up.

"Do you ever stop starring?"

Draco gulped. Shit, he thought "Erm..." he stalled. "What do you mean?"

"You have a very penetrating stare, Draco."

Draco recovered quickly. "Well you see, I would but there was this really sexy guy sitting over at that table," he pointed to the table where Harry's things were stacked, "and I just couldn't keep my eyes off of him."

Harry looked over his shoulder. "Where is he? I don't see anyone." He turned back to Draco. "I'll have to beat him up. Play the jealous boyfriend. No one is allowed to take the eyes of Draco Malfoy away from me."

"Is that so? Well then, I was going to tell you this man's identity, but if you're only going to ruin his dashingly good looks, I may just have to hold my tongue."

"I swear I won't hurt him."

"Well, in that case, he's you."

Harry smiled. It was that smile that said 'Draco watch out, because when I'm through with you, you wont know what happened.'

He sucked in a breath as Harry lunged for him--over the table of course--scattering all of his things to the floor. Draco braced himself as he felt Harry's tongue slide over his lips.

*****

Harry awoke suddenly to someone shifting beside him. The sheets were rumpled and Draco's legs were sticking out from under the comforter. His hair had fallen into his face. He looked so peaceful. Harry couldn't help but kiss the man's features.

"Common room's a mess, they were the last ones there," Dean muttered.

"What do you think they--"

"Don't finish that question, please," Seamus interrupted Ron.

"Sorry."

There was a moment of silence and Harry actually considered getting up, as soon as he found his boxers of course.

"The Fat Lady says no one left last night," Neville said, his voice followed by the sound of a shutting door.

"Then that means..." Ron's voice trailed off. Harry smiled. He'd bet his Firebolt that they were all staring at his bed.

Draco stirred again and opened his eyes.

He opened his mouth to say something but Harry quickly covered Draco's mouth with his hand and shook his head. "Listen," he mouthed.

"Let's go to breakfast. Maybe then I'll never have to know if more than Harry was in that bed.

They waited for the dormitory door to shut before they burst out laughing.

"Maybe we should go to breakfast."

The curtain next to Harry flew open and Ron appeared.

"I knew it!" he yelled.

Harry and Draco sat stunned.

"Ron," Harry breathed.

"Get dressed, it's time for breakfast."

"Get out then," Draco ordered.

"Why? You're not--naked--are you?"

"As a matter of fact--"

"It's none of your business, Ron," Harry said quickly. "Can we have some privacy?"

Ron looked on the verge of laughter, but left the dormitory quietly. Harry, meanwhile, was left utterly traumatized.

"Harry, relax. You could fry an egg on your face about now."

"You were going to say it weren't you?" Harry accused watching Draco get out of bed and find his clothes.

"Maybe. You didn't exactly let me finish."

"And dare I say that was a good thing."
