1,000 Days

It’s eighteen years since the class of ’97 graduated, making it 2015, and a new generation of teachers has taken over Hogwarts.

Every day, for nearly one-and-a-half years, Draco concocted a new potion to try to lift the curse. It was one of the reasons he took the job at Hogwarts. It had been weird, at first, to take over his mentor’s shoes. And it was hard; Snape had died only months before in battle. He knew he’d probably be dead soon. After all, the curse may last a thousand days, but that doesn’t mean another curse may have been put on him to speed up the effects.

I have to tell him, she thought opening her office door. She pulled another small picture from the desk drawer and decided that was how she would tell him. The person in the photograph had his green eyes, his black hair, and (thankfully) his teeth. The person also had her intelligence, her eyesight, and her freckles. Ayden would be a Gryffindor with a Ravenclaw’s intelligence; there was no doubt about that.

“Who,” he asked again. He had to know. It would eat him up inside until he knew the identity of this child’s father. And judging by the fact that Hermione’s name was still Granger—and that she had no ring on her finger—this guy left her to take care of the child on her own. Harry was ready for murder.

Hermione talks to Headmistress McGonagall about bringing Ayden to Hogwarts--perminantly. When she talks to Harry about it, he says no. She talks to Ginny and Myrna about it and they all come to the conclusion that Harry and Draco don't love the girls, but that they can't get over each other. What happens when Hermione hears something she wasn't meant to?

“I won’t let you die,” Harry said softly. Draco scoffed. “Like you can stop it,” he said. “If I’m going to die, I’m going to die.” “No, you’re not. You’re going to get better, and you’re going to help me raise my son.” “Am I?” he asked, his eyebrows rising slightly.
