To me, they are nothing but slaves. Worthless slaves.

They are slaves to their dignity, to their pride; they will do anything to protect that. They do not face reality; in their mind, they live in a world of idealism and optimism. Everything in their lives is perfect, they do not face the anguish I face, nor do they realise that the world is not like their perfect little lives.

She is an exception.

They do not notice she is there, as stunning and clever a witch she is. They taunt her, tease her. She has no true friends.

She does not see me with her beautiful eyes, but there is no one who understands me more than her.

As I am also an exception.

They do not like me, nor do I like them.

She and I, we are secret. She does not dare tell them about me.

They are Gryffindors.

***

She met me in the Great Hall after dinner.

"Hello, " she said coldly, frowning, obviously disapproving of my choice of clothing.

I spun on my heels, laughing, "So, do you like it? Father had it made so that it fits me perfectly."

She glared at me, just like I knew she would.

"Let's go." She walked out the doors without a glance in my direction.

I laughed again. She looks so amazing when she's angry. Her face reddens and her eyes narrow, just the way I like it.

We walked to the lake and sat down under the shade of a tree. It was one of those unusually hot days; the Sun shone brightly, reflecting off the water and into my eyes.

"Graduation this year," I said, staring at the back of her head, at her hair cascading down her shoulders.

"I know." She sounded a bit lost.

"You will still have your friends," I said.

She spun abruptly to look at me.

"Are you kidding? My friends? All they know is who's going out with who and the best way to keep your hair straight. All they care about is themselves and their shallow boyfriends. All they ever talk about is how to apply lipstick without smudging it. All they ever share with me is, 'he is such a good kisser'! "

I laughed. " I can just imagine you telling them I'm a good kisser."

Her face reddened and she turned away from me, fiddling with a lock of her hair. "Sod off," she said.

I don't know what went over me then, I grabbed her by the shoulders and looked into her eyes and asked, "Tell me, am I a good kisser?"

She softened. "I don't know," she whispered, "I don't know."

"You'll see."

I held her close. She closed her eyes and leaned against my chest. I stared at her. She looked so small and vulnerable, and at that moment, I felt like her knight in shining armour, and the whole world just don't matter anymore, only her. She is the one, I let out a small gasp as I realised that. Father would never allow it, not him, not Harry Potter, not Ron Weasley, no one.

Oh, to hell with them, I thought as our lips met.

Because to me, they are only two in the world people that mattered.

I, Draco Malfoy, son of Lucius Malfoy.

And she, daughter of Arthur Weasley, Ginny Weasley.

~End

A/N: this was my first real attempt at romance, I wrote it before Glass Roses and Irreplaceable. It´s a little... strange, Draco and Ginny´s relationship, but it can´t be helped... opposites attract, as they say.
