Chapter 4: The Hook-Up

The next morning Lily woke up to James and Remus trying to keep the marshmallows away from Sirius.

"Sirius, marshmallows are NOT breakfast foods. We do not need you any more hyper then you are now," Lily told him. "Though James could probably use some, you look dead," she joked.

James' usually messy hair was even messier then usual and he had circles under his eyes. James took a marshmallow from Sirius and threw it at Lily. It landed in her hair.

"You idiot!" she shrieked and lunged at him. The shriek woke up Haley and Jenn who were very amused to see James being beat up by a girl. After Lily and James composed themselves they decided to go to the beach. They went back to the house to get their bathing suits and tell Mr. and Mrs. Black where they were going.

"So, who's car are we taking?" Remus asked.

"Mine, and I'm driving," Lily announced.

"Oh no. Lily is a very wild driver; we got pulled over two times coming here. Luckily she also is very charming when she wants to be." Jenn winked at her. They all piled into Lily's car and they sped to the beach.

"Oh Merlin, I'm never getting in a car with you again," said Remus as they found a spot on the beach.

Three hour later everyone was frolicking in the ocean. Lily decided she wanted to get out and James said he'd come with her. The two were laying on a blanket talking.

"So Lily we talked about my family, what about yours?"

"Well, my parents were killed in a car crash in 5th year. Some drunk driver crashed into them. That's why I never drink anything with alcohol in it."

"Oh I'm sorry."

"I know, I miss them a lot but I know they're watching over me. I also have a sister, but she's a muggle and hates anything that has to do with magic. She's married to an ugly boring man." Lily smiled at him. He was so kind and sweet.

Just then the rest of the group came out of the water.

"We heard there's a carnival tonight and we want to go. But it doesn't start 'til 8. So what do you guys want to do 'til then," Remus asked. The three girls looked at each other.

"Shopping!" they yelled in unison.

"No way, no how I am NOT going shopping," Sirius and the other guys protested.

"Well then, we'll go shopping and you can do whatever then we'll meet back later eat dinner and go to the carnival," Haley decided for them. The three girls headed to the mall and the guys decided to fly since they didn't have enough people for a game.

"So, Lily, spill. What did you and James talk about?" Jenn asked. They were in the dressing room of a cute very expensive shop.

"Not much, he asked about my family and I told him about my parents and evil Petty," Lily said. "Does this shirt clash horribly with my hair? Maybe I should get it in black."

"Black, definitely. But I want to hear what you think of James. He is so into you." Haley giggled.

"He's so sweet and cute. But he isn't into me. He's a rich pureblood he can have any girl he wants. Why would he want me? I wish he did though," Lily confessed.

"Oh, stop being modest girl. You're gorgeous and sweet and funny and single. What guy wouldn't want you?" Jenn said.

"Whatever, so Jenn," Lily said changing the subject. "What bout you and 'Remmi'?" Lily laughed at the blush on Jenn's cheek. She was so not one to blush.

"I like him a lot. And I think he likes me too, but he's so shy. And he doesn't want to betray Sirius." Jenn sighed. "What am I going to do?"

"This isn't the 50's. Women can make the first move. Tell him how you feel. Screw Sirius," Haley said.

"Speaking of my dear brother. What would he do without his 'lil' ray of sunshine'?" The three girls finished shopping and went back to the house to meet the boys.

"Are you guys ready?" James asked.

"No way, we can't go like this. Let us get changed and then we can go."

A half hour later the girls came down. Lily's straight hair was down and had two clips in it to keep it out of her face. She was wearing the tight black shirt she had bought that day that had a square neck and a white knee length skirt. Jenn was wearing a yellow spaghetti strap dress that came down to mid thigh and straw platform sandals that gave her a little height. Her hair was half-up half-down with two pieces framing her face. Haley's hair was twisted up in a clip with stray curls falling out. It gave her a casual sexy look that went with her jean shorts and pink tube top.

"Ok, we're ready," Lily said.

"This time I'm driving. I'd rather live to see the carnival," Remus joked.

The carnival was loud and crowded. "So, what do you guys want to do?" Lily asked.

"Rides!" "Food!" Remus and Sirius answered together. Lily looked at James.

"I just want to look around first," he said.

"Ok, Haley, you go with Sirius, we both know you can't wait to go on the rides. Jenn you go with Remus, cotton candy is your weakness. I'll go with James and look around," Lily's eyes twinkled. This is working out perfectly! The group separated.

At least one of us will hook up tonight, Lily thought.

"What was that for?" Haley asked.

"You looked so beautiful. Haley I really really like you," Sirius confessed. "Will you be my girlfriend?"

"Sirius, I don't want to be just another flavor of the week. I know how you treat girls and I won't take that."

"It won't be like that, I promise, I really like you, a lot more then those other girls."

"I don't know Sirius, I really don't know. Can I think about it?" Haley asked sadly.

"Yes, please." He hugged her again feeling distraught. "Lets go find the others."

"Is that all you can think of me as," Jenn said, turning away feeling hurt.

"No, its not I don't know why I said that. I just don't want you to get hurt. I'm not sure I'm ready for a relationship. There are things about me you don't know."

"Then tell me. God damn it Remus, if you love me none of this should matter." Remus pulled her into a tight hug.

"I do love you." He kissed her softly and wiped away her tears. They stayed like that for a long time

"We probably should go look for Lily and the others," Jenn suggested after a while.
