Overshadowed

By x_Phoenix_Feather_x

My wand's still raised in the air when they arrive. I'm trapped, nowhere to run. I'm caught, like a cat in a Battersea dog's home. They look at me with horror in their eyes. They can't believe it's me. No, they think; please God, don't let this be true. It can't be him, it can't be! They're desperate to find an excuse, a way out. It's not going to come, because I'm right here before them. They shouldn't be surprised by anything now. Not after all the people who turned out to be like me.

* * * * *

There was Cho Chang. No one expected her. Some say she was driven to insanity after Cedric's death. Others say she was in on it the whole time.

Colin Creevey. Now he really was surprise. He turned because of Potter's ignorance.

Parvati Patil and Lavender Brown. Another surprise. Torn between a peaceful life, and danger, desire.

Terry Boot. Never really did like Potter. Always had that hidden wild streak.

Cornelius Fudge. My, didn't he change? One year, looking out for The Famous Harry Potter. The next, claiming he's barmy. See the link?

Percy Weasley. Suspicions were already aroused at his behaviour towards his family. It was Fudge that really tipped him over the edge.

The list could go on. I remember the very day I was initiated, the day I got my mark. It was the best day of my life. There were six of us, initiated on the full moon. The pain had been like no other, but I got through it, knowing that it was the right choice, that I would be greatly rewarded. I'm part of his most trusted now. I worked my way up, from the bottom of the pack. I worked tirelessly to be where I am today, and now, it looks like I've lost it all.

I was always the overshadowed one. Always picked on, always tricked and laughed at. Constantly wearing robes too short, tattered and frayed. I soon got fed up of the way our family went on. They were a disgrace to the name of Pureblood. So I took matters into my own hands. I forced them into hiding. Destroyed their home. They didn't even know it was I. Of course they knew it was an insider, but as long as I looked as shocked as the rest of them, I was safe.

I remember the raid that was made at the shrieking shack. I was clever enough to have stolen Potter's invisibility clock that night. He didn't notice, he was too busy in his precious hero act. I got away, but there were many of us caught, and once again, those you would least expect.

  • * * * *

Dennis Creevey. Followed in his brother's footsteps.

Seamus Finnigan. Under Imperius, murdered his best friend Dean Thomas.

Viktor Krum. Delved into the Dark-Arts. Murdered the mudblood filth Hermionie Granger after gaining her trust.

Sir Nicholas de Mimsy-Porpington. You wouldn't have thought a ghost could go so evil, and do so much damage. He sure as hell went dark, and he sure as hell caused chaos.

Penelope Clearwater. Never quite got over Percy. She thought it would bring him back.

  • * * * *

Ron Weasley. You would never think that he would turn. Yet here I am. Wand raised, dark mark above my head, and Neville Longbottom's body at my feet.

"Not quite so overshadowed now, am I?"
