A flash of soft wind hit his face and he heard a girl scream, "CRUCIO!"
He opened his eyes to see a red head in front of him. At that second he knew it was Ginny but he couldn't move from shock. What was she doing here and where did she come from?
The light from her wand hit the green light from Voldemort's, and the wand she held began to shake. The curses held to one another, a deep gold now, neither rickishaying off the other.
Voldemort looked shocked himself. Who was this familiar little girl. He fought to keep hold of his shaking wand as a painful memory struck him.
"Tom don't kill me, please! Let me go!"
"Let you go?" Tom said.
"Please!
"Ha! Your pain and anguish makes me laugh!"
"Tom, don't kill me, please!"
"Shut up, stupid girl! Not that it matters, because no one can here your pitiful cries!
The small, red headed girl let out a desperate sob and she fell to a fetal position at the floor. "Ron! Harry!" she screamed. "Someone, please, help me!"
"Precious Potter can't save you now!"
"Ginny, don't let go!" Harry said desperately. "Ginny, no matter how hard it may be, don't -- let -- go!"
Ginny cringed and gripped her wand tighter. Her arms were shaking slightly from the power of the wands but she kept her grasp.
"Ginny, you can't let go! Not yet!"
Harry couldn't believe this. Why was she doing this? She promised! How?
He realized that this had happened exactly the same way three years ago. In the grave yard, yes! Harry thought.
Voldemort shook himself, almost forgetting that he was holding a wand and that he was falling in his attempt to murder Potter. He too remembered what happened three years ago. The same damn thing!
Harry had to think on his feet. He had to do something before Ginny couldn't hold on anymore and let go. She and
Voldemort had already started to rise from the ground. The green light surrounding them had faded and the black cave had evaporated like smoke. All that was left was the blanket of night and stars. The moon was full.
Ginny and Voldemort rose higher and higher still. Twenty feet into the cold midnight air.
"Maybe I should call for my faithful servant!" Voldemort yelled to Harry at the ground. His teeth were bared in a malicious grin and before he could speak there was a loud crack and a man with a silver arm and old stature appeared. Wormtail. He truly looked older and more feebly than he was.
"Wormtail!" Voldemort yelled to the ground. "Don't do anything until I say."
He nodded exaggerating each movement so it was easily noticed. "Yes master!"
"Pettigrew!" Harry yelled, getting to his feet and charging at him. Wormtail had no time to react and fell into a pile with Harry at the ground. Harry was about to beat, punch, and throttle every part of Wormtail that he could reach. "I'll kill you, I swear I will!"
There was a howl in the distance that made Harry jump to his feet. Wormtail was lying motionless at the ground. Harry turned to see a wolf charging in his direction. It couldn't be... Lupin? Harry then remembered that Lupin was dangerous when he was transformed, and pointed his wand at the creature.
He blinked and watched as the wolf ran to him, standing over Wormtail, as if guarding him. Harry felt a sudden line of thought from the wolf that clearly said, "Don't do anything stupid, Harry. Wormtail is going to save you. He has no choice."
Harry nodded and looked back at the sky. He had to get Ginny down somehow, alive. He was going to scream at her if she ever got down from there.
He didn't have much time. He'd yell at her later. He looked over at Lupin who was nudging at Wormtail to get up. When he did, he tried to run off and Lupin snapped at him with his vicious teeth. He wouldn't let him die, but wasn't allowing him to leave anytime soon.
Get Ginny, Harry, came the same thought from the wolf. He heard the wolf give a cry of what seemed like agony. Harry shook himself (he hadn't time to check Lupin) and pulled out his wand, looking to the dark sky again. He could take his chance and yell Avada Kedavra, possibly killing Ginny if it rickishayed, or killing Voldemort. Either way, Ginny was still falling to the ground in the end. I'd never let her fall, Harry thought confidently. Never...
Harry'd taken many chances in his life. Some that failed to be quite stupid, but he had to save Ginny.
She let out a cry of pain as the wand shook violently, but she kept her grasp. Voldemort looked angrier and more determined to defeat her. "You'll be next Potter!" he shouted. He suddenly lifted his wand high, and the power of the two wands dropped. Voldemort stayed in the air and Ginny began to fall.
"GINNY!" Harry screamed in panic, pointing his wand at her. Without a word spoken, she slowly came to a halt at the ground with out a scratch. He rushed to her as fast as his legs would carry him, but he suddenly ran into an invisible barrier, knocking him to the ground. Panic arose inside of him of which he'd never known. He got to his feet.
Ginny was lying unconscious on the grass. And he was stuck behind a wall he couldn't see. Voldemort was slowly gliding to the ground.
He confirmed Harry's fears as he strode over to Ginny's motionless form. "Ah, do you love her, Potter?" he asked with an air of feigned interest. He frowned suddenly, giving Ginny a swift kick in the ribs. Harry's heart ripped in half. She didn't even flinch. "Good," he muttered. "It'll make it all the more worth while to kill her knowing she's the one you loved most."
