Unnoticed Details.

They're the little idiosyncrasies we all have.

Usually only the people who are very close to us notice what they are.

For example, Ginny scrunches up her nose when she's reading something from a textbook.

Hermione taps her foot when she listens to someone talking to her.

Fred and George both knock the others knee with their own when they're sitting next to each other.

Harry, well Harry has a lot I've noticed.

When talking about you-know-who he always reaches up and touches his scar, almost strokes it.

When talking about Malfoy, his top lip curls with up most disgust.

In nervous situations, Harry plays with invisible threads on his clothes.

Harry always seems to breathe heavier under the invisibility cloak.

When Harry's scared or worried he thrives on physical contact. Just simple things like knocking my ankle, brushing hands, sitting right next to me.

Whenever Harry's worried about someone, or wonders what their thinking he stares at them more than usual, almost as if he can read their mind with his piecing green eyes.

If Harry has something on his mind he tends to stare at his hands a lot. It's not even like he's focusing on them, he just chooses hands as a focus point.

As he has a shower, he always stands completely still with his head down just letting the water rush over him. It's like he's always had a long day and this is the time he washes all the baggage away.

Sometimes when all the guys in the dorm are joking around and Harry gets embarrassed he crosses one foot over the other and stares at them, while his face blushes slightly.

In the morning when we both take a last look in the mirror, Harry looks at himself with a dissatisfied look on his face and re-flattens his hair over his scar.

When Hermione, myself, mum or someone else tries to build Harry up and give him a complement, he tenses the muscles in his neck and avoids eye contact.

Harry always re-ties his school tie three times every morning.

When he drinks pumpkin juice, he always gets a drop left on his bottom lip, which he licks off.

Harry ties his shoelaces by making two little loops then twists and ties them together.

In the evening, Harry always chooses the big maroon comfy chair by the fire and bends one knee and hugs it.

One study session I was so bored I looked up at Harry and noticed that he nibbles his top lip when he's deep in concentration. Now when I'm studying I find myself biting my lip.

Whenever a professor asks Harry a question he always takes a quick side-glance at me, even if he knows the answer.

The time I watch Harry the most though, is when he sleeps. He usually sleeps curled up on his side, playing with the corner of his pillow, dribbling slightly.

As our dorm all hops into bed, Harry included, he pulls the covers right up under his chin and lies straight. But by morning time, his limbs are spread eagle at weird angles and he is twisted all up in his sheets.

At nighttime, when Hermione, Harry and myself are staying up late, sitting around the dorm's fire Harry's blinking becomes slower.

Also Harry sighs a lot, not just a normal sigh, but a sigh that is very tired, worried and seems to come from a much older person. He does this even when he's asleep.

Sometimes I think of how lucky I am to have a friend like Harry, but then it seems like a curse. He calls me his best friend, but somehow that title doesn't seem to sum up exactly how I feel.

Perhaps Harry doesn't feel the same though. Maybe he doesn't know all my little idiosyncrasies as I know his so well.

But then last night when we where sitting at our study table, I could feel someone looking at me, but I read on, then Harry whispered my name and I looked up. He had a coy smirk and leant forward and said, "Did you know when you study you chew your lip?"

The irony made me laugh and Harry joined in too. Hermione's sharp 'be quiet' broke the moment and she asked, "What was so funny about that?"

I guess it's just one of those unnoticed details.
