*Shattered World* Chapter One: The Wedding
It was perhaps the most breathtaking spring day my turquoise eyes had ever seen. The sun was shining, the birds were singing, and the great amount of people surrounding me all held smiles of happiness on their faces. Mind you some of those smiles also had sparkling little tears just waiting to burst forth from their owner’s eyes. Why would they not cry tears of joy? It was a beautiful day after all.
Today was the day that Ronald Charles Weasley and Hermione Ann Granger were to be wed, and the atmosphere seemed to agree for it was making its self out to be the kind of day you only heard in fairy tales.
Muggle weddings and wizarding weddings happened to have some of the same customs. The flower girl and ring bearer, the best man and the maid of honor, the groomsmen and the bridesmaids were all apart of a traditional wizarding wedding. There were a few other things that we wizarding folk added as you will see.
We all turned our heads as we heard the soft, melodious music starting up. It was nothing like the Muggle wedding anthem. It was softer and more beautiful. It made me recall my wedding day. Angelina, Alicia, and Cho had been my bridesmaids. Fred, Lee, and Oliver were George’s groomsmen. George looked like a god of a man that had sent down to me. I remember asking myself, if I, Katherine Elizabeth Bell, could ever be worthy of something so wonderful. I Ron looked a lot like George had at the moment, except for he was being sent for Hermione.
I zapped out of my daze when my son, Drew, pointed at the flower girl, my own nice, Breelyn (Percy and Penelope’s second child) walked down the path tossing out pink roses and violets as she made her way down the golden aisle. As tradition the aisle for a wizarding wedding is golden. Following beside Breelyn, was Hermione’s Muggle cousin Trent, who was obviously in awe. I looked up toward the gazebo Ron was standing on. The thing that surprised me is he didn’t look nervous in the least. His best man Harry, looked more nervous for Ron than he did. The groomsmen, Dean Thomas and Seamus Finnigan, looked cooler than cucumbers.
I cast my eyes back to the aisle just in time to see Hermione’s maid of honor, Piper Lowe, step out in beautiful dress robes of a soft lavender color that went well with Piper’s changing violet eyes. Today they were a light violet, suggesting she was happy. Piper had been Hermione’s best female friend since the summer before 5th year when Piper was introduced to Hermione, Harry, and the Weasleys. Soon Harry, Hermione, Ron, and her were as inseparable a quartet as the other three had been a trio. The reason why they met is a whole different story. One I’m sure will come out from me to you sooner or later.
Ginny, one of Hermione’s bridesmaids stepped out in beautiful pastel yellow dress robes. Ginny had grown up to become a knockout. She had been offered to be a Gladrags model, but turned it down to be one of their designers. Ginny, Hermione, and Piper would often hang out together and when they did no male eye in the vicinity wasn’t looking their way. The were all extremely beautiful women. One of Hermione’s other Muggle cousins, Lori, was donning pastel blue dress robes, though I’m sure she wasn’t comfortable in wizarding clothes, but she looked quite cute.
Everyone, including myself, ooh-ed and ah-ed as Hermione stepped out in her glorious white wedding robes. A golden glow surrounded her, another one of our wizarding traditions to put a silver or gold glow around the bride. Hermione was smiling, her amber-brown hair half up and half down in beautiful curls. Her chocolate brown eyes were gazing into Ron’s blue ones. Their look didn’t quaver. She reached him and he took her hand and the binding of the two hearts began.
"Ronald, Ron, I love you with every inch of my heart, with every wisp of my soul, with every thought in my mind, with every feeling in my body. You are the completion of me. You are my heaven on earth. My Romeo. You’re my everything. This bind will never break because of my love for you. I love you, Ron, for now, for always, for ever and after."
"Hermione, my love, I love you with every inch of my heart, with every wisp of my soul, with every thought in my mind, with every feeling in my body. You are the completion of me. You are my only earth‘s angel. My Juliet. You’re my everything. This bind will never break because of my love for you. I love you, Hermione, for now, for always, for ever and after."
Before the witch priestess could say another a single word Piper and Harry switched looks and grins. They produced their wands and looked at Hermione and Ron, who now began to kiss. As on cue the best man and the maid of honor made the flower petals that had been thrown by the flower girl swirl around the kissing couple in a gentle breeze. One of them, Piper would be my guess, had added a touch of glitter. This was another wizarding tradition. Harry and Piper were grinning watching two of their best friends and then looked back up to meet each other’s eyes. Many of us wondered why those two hadn’t gotten married yet. Harry and Piper had been a couple since the end of 6th year at Hogwarts, of course this is what I’d heard since I was out of Hogwarts by then.
***
That night at the Burrow the whole lot of us packed in the comfy den. Angelina and I sat talking with Bill’s wife Sarah; whom was a famed choreographer for many of today’s hottest wizarding groups, such as Four Corners and Aphrodite. Our main topic was the reception which had only been topped by the wedding ceremony it’s self. There is a custom in Muggle weddings where the bride throws the bouquet of flowers, and the groom throws the garner; and whoever catches them will be the next to marry. We have a similar tradition, but we use a gold and a silver orb. Silver for the female; gold for the male. The two that catch it have to share a pretty passionate and fiery kiss in front of all the reception goers. This year’s recipients had been none other that Ginny Weasley and Seamus Finnigan. I guess Ginny had heard enough commotion over her and Seamus’s wild kiss, because as soon as we got on the topic she bellowed out in protest.
"Please, can’t everyone just stop talking about it. It was tradition. It was our duty to the bride and groom," she insisted running her hand through her vivid red hair.
"Some duty," Angelina joked. Sarah and I chortled; I believe even Mrs. Weasley was smiling. With a loud sigh Ginny left the room. Just then a green light came into the fireplace and out stepped Charlie, his wife, Jennifer, and their son Toby.
I guess it’s time that I fill you in on all the Weasleys and their little ones. Well as I’ve told you Bill married Sarah Latza, for eight years. So you can picture her Sarah was tan, possessed intriguing dark eyes, and cocoa brown hair. They had one daughter who was five, named Giselle after Sarah’s favorite Muggle ballet (she was half and half). Giselle had inherited the Weasley red hair, but her mother’s eyes.
There was Charlie and Jennifer whom had met when one of the Chinese Fireballs that Charlie was working with had become fatally injured. Jennifer was a magi-vet, meaning a vet for magic animals. They were wed and had little three year old Toby who had his mother’s black hair and black eyes, he was truly a charmer, much like his father.
Percy and Penelope, or Penny as we call her, were married. Penny worked in the Ministry along side Percy. Who was know the Head of International Magical Cooperation Department, and was well on his way at becoming another Mr. Crouch. Having the most children so far, they had six year old Spencer, whom was very much like his father looks and personality. Next was four year old Breelyn, whom to everyone’s surprise (especially Fred and George) was rather rambunctious and playful. Which made her perfect playmates with my son, mind you. Last they had one year old Miranda, whom was shy and sweet, and had Penny’s golden blonde curls.
Next there was George and I. We met through Hogwarts of course. My husband and his twin had succeeded on making their joke shop, Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes. I was a photographer for Witch’s Weekly. Yes, hard job photographing all those beautiful and glamorous celebrities. We have one child, Andrew, or more commonly called Drew. Looks just like his father, but I guess my blonde looks and his father’s red hair gave him a strawberry color on his own head. Drew, is exactly how I imagine George and Fred were at the age. A bit scary for me actually as I am his mother.
Then there’s Angelina and Fred whom were married, but with out any children. Though I’m sure when or if they did they’d be beautiful. Probably a bit crazier than Drew; Fred was always a tad wilder than George, and Angelina was a bit wilder than me. Angelina wrote for the Daily Prophet, sports section of course, though why she turned down the chance to join Appleby Arrows or Wimbourne Wasps is beyond all of us. She was the best Quidditch player in our years at Hogwarts save Harry of course. Who was another Quidditch player who didn’t go professional.
Ginny dated around. We never really got to hear much of her personal life as she liked to keep it away from us. She’s only introduced the clan to the ones she was really serious about. The grand total of that was two. Well, to each his own, I say. Yet to be told to you were the two mysterious ones in the Weasley clan. Funny though, as they are not Weasleys by blood or by marriage, but by friendship. Harry Potter. Piper Lowe.
Harry did as many of us expected. Became one heck of a dashing man. He never was much one for the press, but still he won Witch’s Weekly’s Sexiest Wizard award three times in a row; only (to his even greater dismay) to be stopped last year by Draco Malfoy, head of Draconus Enterprises who did so much I couldn’t even begin to explain. He was offered many a Quidditch position, but refused them to become an Auror. After he had slain Voldemort in his seventh Hogwarts year, he explained he couldn’t see how he could do anything else. We also had a feeling that he didn’t want any other children to end up like he had: orphaned.
Perhaps that was something that bound Harry and Piper. They were both orphaned; surprisingly the same person was the cause of the orphaned states. Everyone in our world knows that Harry’s parents were killed by Voldemort when he was one years old. He went to stay with his awful Muggle aunt and uncle, that is until Sirius Black’s trial at the end of Harry’s fifth year that had proclaimed Sirius innocent. Of course Harry went to live with Sirius. Piper was fourteen when she lost her parents.
When Voldemort had come to rise again, after slaying our dear sweet Cedric, and attempting to kill Harry; Voldemort’s gang attacked an American witch/wizard couple. That couple happened to be Lucas & Evelyn Lowe. Why he had decided to attack them didn’t come out until Piper moved over to Britain. Of course everyone knew, because of the Daily Prophet. Evelyn was Albus Dumbledore’s granddaughter, in all actuality the only child of Albus’s son, Evander (His wife and him where killed in the first rise of Voldemort. They were Aurors). So therefore Evelyn, Lucas, and Piper were cherished by Dumbledore. Voldemort hated Dumbledore and found that this would be a nice slap in the face for him. The only reason he didn’t get to Piper is because she was attending Salem Witches’ and Warlocks’ Academy. I’ve heard from George that the first time he met Piper was when she stayed with the Weasley’s after Voldemort’s rise. It was just after her parents had been killed, and she was there to stay with her great-grandfather as he was her only living relative. George said she was unbelievably quiet.
Piper was still a bit quite sometimes, but usually she was more cheerful now that the second Voldemort war had subsided. She was, alongside Harry--her boyfriend--, an Auror; much for the same reason we suspect. When I first cast a glance on her I had felt sorry for Fleur Delacour and for Cho Chang. Despite what we would have imagined of a relative of Dumbledore she was just gorgeous. Fleur would look homely compared to her, and Cho, well, she wasn’t the prettiest girl at Hogwarts anymore. Piper’s auburn curls reached to her shoulder blades, an impeccable ivory complexion, and those wonderful violet eyes. She had definitely became one of the family as the sort of second adopted child of the Weasleys.
Speaking of the two, we heard two distinctive pops in the air, and the mystery couple was standing in front of us.
"Uncle Harry! We saw you today. You were standing next to Uncle Ron!" Toby called jumping up from the position on his father’s lap.
"Hey, kiddo," Harry smiled at the little Weasley, before adding, "So, how’s my favorite wizarding family."
"We’re fine," Ginny answered. Reappearing at the sight of Harry. We figured she still had a little thing for him. They’d never gone out. Angelina and I suspected this was due to Ginny being Ron’s little sister.
The night continued on to become a "Weasley Shining Moment" as I referred to them. The world was happy and all was well…or so, we thought.
