Chapter 4

The next morning Hermione received another owl. It was from Viktor, or at least she thought it was. It read:

Dear Hermione,

It has been such a long time since we last corresponded. I have heard that your next Hogsmeade trip is going to be this weekend. I was wondering if you could please meet me in the Three Broomsticks at one o'clock. It has been such a long time since I saw you last.

Sending all my love,

Viktor

"Look," Hermione said, showing the letter to Harry and Ron. "I have a feeling it's the whore again." She looked over at the Slytherin table. Pansy and Draco were "deep in conversation".

"Don't let her get to you 'Mione," Ron said. "You're ten times better than she'll ever be. She's just angry because you are beautiful and she is a pug-faced git."

Hermione shrugged. "Well, I guess you're right. I am better than her at just about everything." She looked over at the Slytherin table again. Draco was staring at her. 'Why is he staring at me?' she asked herself. 'Did he just smile? This must be a dream. Draco Malfoy never smiles.'

"Hermione?" She looked away from Draco. "Are you feeling alright?" Harry asked.

"Actually, now that you mention it, I have a thing to do. I have to go to a place and do this thing. I'll see you two in Transfiguration." Hermione rushed from the table and headed out of the Great Hall.

"What did she just say?" Harry asked.

Ron shrugged. "I have no bloody clue. It must be girl language."

"Draco, sweetie," Pansy said, "will you go with me to the Hogsmeade trip this weekend?"

Draco's eyes were still on Hermione. "Yeah, sure whatever."

"Yay!" Pansy squeaked. "What are you going to wear because I thought it would be cute if we matched. I would like to wear pink but I know you wouldn't. Pink isn't your color, actually. I see you in black and silver. How would you feel about wearing a pink scarf? That way I can wear pink and we'll match. Or what about a pink hat? How about a pink shirt? Draco? Are you listening to me?"

"Yeah, sure whatever." He watched Hermione get up from her seat and leave. This was his chance. "I have to go Pansy. Try not to hurt yourself." Draco got up and hurried out the doors before Pansy could say anymore. 'Wow does she talk so much. I don't know why I put up with her all the time. Wait, did I just agree to wear pink? This is going to be a very long weekend.' Draco followed Hermione up a few flights of stairs to, none the less, the library. Hermione hid herself behind a row of books. Draco followed.

"Is this all you do, Granger?" Hermione was startled. She never expected Draco to be in the library. 'Can he even read?' she asked herself.

"Yes, Malfoy. My goal is to have high marks in school, not to have high marks in the bedroom. I'm even surprised to see you in the library."

"Why is that?" Draco inched closer to her. She backed away.

"The library is the last place I would expect to find you."

"What is the first place?" Once again, Draco moved towards Hermione as she backed away.

"Somewhere quiet with your pit bull of a girlfriend." Draco looked frustrated.

"She's defiantly not the nicest person."

"And you are?" Hermione look astounded. If anything, Draco was ten times worse than Pansy. 'But he is better looking,' she thought. 'What am I thinking? This is Draco Malfoy I'm talking about. He is my enemy. Although he is very good looking, that still doesn't change anything between us.'

"I can be quite charming. I have a way with the ladies." They both laughed.

"I've never heard you laugh before." Hermione looked at his eyes. They were a piercing silver. "You should laugh more often."

"Well, if you like my laugh I probably should laugh more often." There was dead silence. Draco and Hermione were the only ones left in the library. They stared into each other's eyes. "I might kiss you."

"I might be bad at it." Hermione still stared into his eyes. 'Is this the menacing Draco Malfoy that we all know? Is he just playing games? If he is, he's playing them well.'

"That's not possible." Slowly, Draco leaned in and kissed Hermione.

"Do you think Hermione's alright?" Harry asked. "She seemed really upset yesterday. I still don't think she's gotten over it."

"I have no idea. I don't understand women. They should seriously make a book."

"I'm going to go check on her. She'll probably be in the library." Harry scurried off to the library. When he walked in, he couldn't believe his eyes. Hermione and Draco were kissing! 'His eyes upon your face. His hand upon your hand. His lips caress your skin. It's more than I can stand!'

Draco looked up to see who had entered the library. "Potter!"
