Chapter four: Remember.

Harry, Ron and Hermione were seated on the floor staring at the broken Timeturner.

"I’ve racked my brain a million times but the word ‘enchartias’ just isn’t familiar!" Hermione sighed. "What I’d do for a library."

Ron looked up. "That’s funny ‘Mione, I thought you carried one in your back pocket."

Hermione rolled her eyes. "It would be a lot easier if I did…" She trailed off, eyebrows furrowing. "This place, no, this world we’re in has to be some sort off parallel dimension. I don’t remember any of these events in history…"

"So," Harry said thoughtfully. "The Timeturner might not be a Timeturner at all. It might be some sort of device that takes us to a different dimension."

Hermione nodded. "Yeah, but why are we here? Did you see who threw it?"

Harry shook his head. "I didn’t see anyone, but like you said ‘Mione, why are we here?"

Ron sighed. "Maybe whoever took us here wanted us out of the way. But the question is, out of the way of what?"

The three fell silent. Hermione looked up to see Harry’s face stricken.

"Harry", she said softly. "We don’t know if it was You-Know-Who for sure, don’t always jump to the worst conclusion."

"It’s Voldemort!" Harry said sharply. "Say his name!"

Ron flinched but sat silently as Harry walked over to the window. Hermione got up to follow but Ron shook his head. "Let him be ‘Mione. Let’s go to bed."

Hermione was awakened by the soft light of the moon. The window was open, but she was sure she had closed it before she went to bed.

"Did I wake you?" a soft voice asked from near the window.

Hermione shook her head, got up and walked over to the window.

Harry looked up. "Go back to bed, we need you at full strength tomorrow in case something happens."

"You should take your own advice," Hermione shifted herself so she had her back to the window and was looking at him. "Harry, don’t always jump to the worst conclusions."

"I-"

Hermione raised her hand, cutting him off.

"Hogwarts-believe it or not is the most safest place anyone could be. Dumbledore is there, don’t put all their lives on your shoulders."

"But-"

"But what Harry?! They will be safe! They are safe! You do not need to be there all the time!" Hermione took a deep breath and sighed. "It’s not just your fight. It’s ours. Its mine, Ron’s, Dumbledore’s and everyone else’s who’s decided they will fight for what’s right!"

Harry hung his head. "I know ‘Mione. But sometimes it just feels like-well like it is my fight, and mine alone."

"Harry?"

"What?"

"Look at me."

Harry looked up.

"Everyday I’m fighting a battle. Everyday I try to make you see that it’s my battle too. That it’s our battle, and we have to do this together. But it’s a losing battle."

Hermione sighed then walked over to her bed. "Don’t push us away. Don’t push me away. We’re in this together."

She had said the words in a whisper but Harry had heard them. He closed his eyes, knowing that she was telling the truth. She always told the truth.

Draco looked around the courtyard. It was in the early hours of the morning. These people liked to party hard. Earlier on he had walked in here expecting to get information but he had soon realized that the name Solen was definitely not favored.

Draco had met a couple of people while Banard had gone to dine with the king, but he had soon came back and introduced him to a couple of his mates.

They really weren’t that bad Draco mused as he looked around the group of roaring drunken men. They had treated him as an old friend as soon as they met him. And even if Draco wanted to admit it or not, he was having quite a good time.

"I hear Banard’s taking you to see his royal cousin tomorrow Travis." Draco looked up at the man that had spoken. His name was Faltem.

"Yeah, I am. Our Travis here has taken a liking to Glynna-vrye."

"Good luck to ya then mate!" Faltem roared.

"A toast to Travis then!Lets see if he wins the heart of the lovely maiden!"

The others raised their mugs and cheered.

"To the future king Travis! May he live long and wealthy!"

Draco raised an eyebrow and shot a questioning look at Banard. Banard winked.

"Mind you have your manners where they ought to be men," a voice said sternly.

They all looked up to see a plump, middle-aged woman with smiling eyes.

Banard beamed. "Ah! Rosa my dear, haven’t seen you for a while!"

Rosa smiled back. "Banard, just what are you doing hanging around such hooligans?"

Banard laughed. "We are not hooligans! We are men and mighty fine ones at that!"

The others roared their agreements.

Rosa sighed then turned her focus to Draco. "So," he said. "You’re the youth that’s meeting our dear Glynna. Mind though, she’s easy to embarrass."

The crowd of men laughed and Rosa sent them all a stern eye. "Leave her alone, especially you, Taysaen, it’s not like you can talk!"

All eyes turned to a young man with rusty blonde hair.

"You mean to tell me you haven’t asked her yet?!" Banard asked, eyes widening.

"Thanks Rosa," Taysaen said bitterly but his eyes were smiling. "I really appreciate you telling everyone about my personal business."

The men laughed again and Faltem thumped him on the back. "Don’t worry mate, you know none of us here have personal lives. Everyone knows everything ‘round here."

The others nodded.

"Buts that’s not always a good thing is it?" a voice asked from the shadows that the fire did not reach.

"Who’s there?" Faltem asked.

The stranger moved into the light. Draco looked at him. He had light brown hair, and a handsome face. He seemed to be around twenty-four from what Draco could guess. His skin was a dark tan and his eyes sparkled an unnaturally green colour. If any of the men around Draco knew who this man was, they didn’t show it.

"Ah, Rushton. You know better then to come at such a time in Bastyne. The Stauce’s men grow stronger everyday, and same with his hold on the Vallie." It was Banard who had spoken. His voice had been soft and tired. The joyful sparkle that had inhabited Banards eye earlier had vanished. Leaving a look of wisdom that could only come from age.

"Yes, Banard, I have seen it with my own eyes, but yet I do not want to believe it."

Banard sighed then stood up. "Travis?"

Draco met his gaze. "What?"

"I am to be leaving now on some business that can not wait until the ‘morn. I will send Rosa to take you down to midmeal tomorrow so you can dine with Princess Glynna."

Draco nodded and watched Banard turn. Rushton turned to face Draco. His eyes bore into his.

Why do you lie, boy?

Draco jumped. His mind whirling.Rushton had just asked him something, but not out loud. He had said it in his mind.Draco looked back up at Rushton, his astonishment must have been evident on his face. Rushton looked at him quizzically then strode after Banard.

Why do you lie, boy? The words tumbled around his head making his head hurt.

Why do you lie?

The greenery was all around her. It surrounded her. Showing its natural beauty. She had always loved coming here to play Quidditch with her brothers. But she loved it more when she came alone.

Ginny watched as the spring breeze ruffled the wild flowers. A young bird chirped its song to anyone who was willing to hear.

"If you listen, you will hear. For the Legendsong is all but gone," Ginny murmured, her eyes trailing over the pasture.

"But those who do not listen shall never know," a voice said softly.

Ginny looked up, Storm eyes clashed against agate. "And what do you know Stormeyes-en?"

"A lot more then you know."

Ginny laughed her eyes twinkling under the midday’s sun. "Wise words were once spoken, but know are told through the calling river."

Her words were drowned out by the sound of rushing water and she found herself by a majestic river. It was no ordinary river though.

"The CallingRiver," a familiar voice stated. Ginny turned and saw who had spoken.

"Hi Harry," she said softly. ‘Of all places to meet, we meet here."

Harry shrugged then bent down at the waters edge. Ginny stepped forward.

"Don’t go any closer! Harry, it’s not safe!"

Harry looked up and smiled sadly. "Nothing is ever safe," he said softly, then threw himself into the water.

Ginny’s eyes flashed open and she slowly let her surroundings focus around her. It was a dream, all a dream. Ginny furrowed her brow, catching the last fragments of the dream before it disappeared forever.

She had been in a field, saying something about a song, then…then a river. And a boy. A boy that she had knew. She was sure she had known him.

"What was his name?" Ginny wondered out loud. "Why can’t I just remember?"

She gave a frustrated sigh and reached for her nightgown, hoping a walk might clear her mind.

Draco rose with the others that were left. They were leaving the castle grounds now to go home. Many had sobered up by now-Faltem was one of them. Apparently he couldn’t afford his wife finding him passed out on the front doorstep again. He said his good-byes then walked into the castle, thinking how unproductive this night had been. No, Draco told himself. Not entirely unproductive.Who were the Stauce’s men? What was the Vallie? And who was this Rushton person? Too many questions that needed to be answered Draco mused. But I have all the time in the world.

He had not noticed were he had been walking and looked around him. Perfect. Draco thought bitterly. I’m lost. He sighed then tried to retrace his steps. After about fifteen minutes later he had gotten even more lost then he was before.

"Damn it!" Draco cursed. "Why does this Castle have to be so annoying! Its worse the Hogwarts!" He stopped his ranting when he heard a soft noise coming from around the corner. Draco strained his ears and identified the sound of bare feet walking on flagstones.

* * * * *

Ginny cursed under her breath as she walked along the hallway, the freezing flagstones numbing her bare feet. "I should of worn slippers," she muttered as she rounded the corner and collided with a wall.

"What in Merlin’s name-" Ginny yelled as she fell ungracefully to the ground. She heard a breath being sucked in above her and she looked up. A young man around her age with silver-blonde hair and rather nice features was standing above her. Staring at her like he had seen a ghost.

Ginny rose an eyebrow. "I usually don’t mind being gawked at, but being gawked at in the middle of the night by some stranger is quite unnerving."

The youth above her regained his composure and smirked. His eyes traveled lazily down do her chest and the smirk widened. Ginny followed his gaze and gasped. Her robe had fallen open to show her nightclothes, and a bit more skin then she would have preferred. Ginny covered herself up quickly and mustered up the most intimidating glare she could.

It didn’t even faze him.

She scrambled of the floor, still holding his gaze. He seemed familiar, like she had seen him before. She felt a sudden rush of hate at the youth and a name suddenly placed itself on her lips. "Malfoy."

The young man’s eyes widened and he took a step back. "Weasley?" he asked.

The name rung a bell but she couldn’t identify it. "What? Weasley? Are you trying to insult me?"

His mouth which at been hanging open shut abruptly. "So," he drawled "You’reGlynna-vrye."

"And what if I am? What’s it to you?" Ginny snapped, eyes flashing. For some reason a strong surge of hate filled her words.

"Obviously that’s a yes."

Ginny crossed her arms and flicked her hair back with a swish of her head. "Yes, obviously," she sneered.

The young man raised an eyebrow and smirked. "Such fitting manners for a princess, what would your father say?"

Ginny narrowed her eyes. "I don’t care what my father would say. He isn’t here right now, I could get him though. I wonder what he would say if he knew you were here. Whoever you are I’m sure you don’t have the rights to be wandering around the castle at such a time."

"And what such a time is it then?"

She glared at him.

"Oh, it’s such a time for you to be in bed? I’m sure father would not want his little darling to be walking around so late at night. Who knows what could happen? You could be killed or worse, you could stub a toe!"

Ginny had a sudden urge to punch him.

He chuckled. "Did I insult you? If I did I’m oh-so-ever sorry, I really didn’t mean to!" Heavy sarcasm laced his words and Ginny threw caution to the wind. She raised her fist back and punched him.

He staggered back, holding his jaw. Eyes widening in disbelief.

"Sorry," Ginny said in a bored tone. "I had an urge."

Draco stared at her. This is getting far too much of a coincidence, he thought. She looks exactly like Ginny and acts like a Weasley. What on earth is going on here? How did she know I’m Malfoy? Maybe she did know, maybe she had also been sucked into this world!Draco scowled. She’d been leading him on.

"Alright drop the act, Weasley. I know it’s you. Who else is here? Potter?Your brother perhaps?"

The name struck a bell. It rang loud and clear in her head. Potter. Harry Potter! Pain surged threw her head, she felt like she had just walked into a line of fire.

"Potter?’ She whispered. "I can’t-I can’t remember." A surge of visions-no a surge of memories flew threw her head. Her first day at Hogwarts, the Chamber Of Secrets, the triwizard championships…the Timeturner….

Ginny screwed her eyes shut and gripped her forehead with her hand. The memories…her memories. Her name wasn’t Glynna-vrye. It was….it was Ginny Weasley!

And the boy in front of her was Malfoy. DracoMalfoy.

She stumbled forward then fell to the ground, gasping for air. She looked up into the shocked face of Malfoy. "Could’ve at least caught me," she rasped. "I knew you were a git, but honestly!"

Draco let this new information comprehend. He wasn’t dumb, he could put two and two together but this seemed a little too farfetched.

Ginny got to her feet a bit shakily and stared at Draco. "Oh," Ginny said, comprehending the situation. "Lovely dream I’m having." She got no response. "It is a dream right?"

"…………….."

"RIGHT!?"

Draco stared at her then set his mouth in a firm line. "Obviously not."

"What do you mean. ‘Obviously not?’"

"I mean, Weasley, that we are not by far ina dream."

Ginny paled. "You mean…they….thought…princess……me?" she stuttered.

Draco would have laughed, if not for the situation they were in.

Ginny shook her head in disbelief. "They thought … I…me… princess?" Ginny stuttered, trying to find the right words. This time Draco did laugh.

"You, a Weasley, mistaken for a princess? That’s pathetic!"

"What do yo-" Ginny was cut of by Draco’s hand covering her mouth. She tried to wretch his hand away but he only shook his head and placed a finger to his lips. Ginny, understanding his message, strained her ears. Someone was coming around the corner. Suddenly Draco pulled her into a crevice between the wall and one of the many pillars in the large corridor.

The steps got louder, Ginny realized that it was not just one set of footsteps. It was in fact, two sets. As the two sets of footsteps got louder she could hear scraps of murmured conversation.

"Not at night…too many guards."

Ginny tried to crane her head around Draco’s shoulder but he stopped her. His voice was right next to her ear and when he spoke it sent an unwanted shiver down her spine. "Don’t…they might see us." Ginny nodded and focused her attention back to the two strangers.

"We can’t take her tomorrow. Maybe the moon festival? Her father can’t guard her at all times at such a busy occasion as that."

His accompanist chuckled. "The king will be so devastated. First the queen, and now his beloved daughter- Glynna-vrye."

Ginny’s eyes widened. They were planning on kidnapping Glynna! That means they were planning to kidnap her!

The men passed their hiding place and walked down the far corridor, then turned out of sight. After they were sure the men had left Draco squeezed out of the corridor and stared at her.

Ginny sighed and bit her lip, coming to a conclusion. "No matter how-" She hesitated. "No matter how much we hate each other…we…" She sighed. "Where ever we are, we have to work together…to…to get home." Ginny squeezed her eyes shut, willing the tears to stay back. To her amazement they did.

Draco’s voice cut through her despairing thoughts. "I will never understand how a Weasley could be mistaken as a princess, but-" Draco cut off, as if this was a very hard thing for him to say. "But you’re right. We have to work together."

Ginny cracked one eye open and stared at Draco in disbelief. He had just agreed her.

Draco narrowed his eyes. "Stop staring at me like I just turned into a Blast-ended Skrewt."

Ginny laughed, not knowing whether she was laughing because she was nervous or just because imagining Draco as a Skrewt was funny. He gave her a weird look.

"Weasley, I think its time for you to stop your bouts of insanity. If you haven’t realized, we have to get out of here."

"Out of here?" Ginny echoed. Draco rolled his eyes.

"Yes, Weasley.Out of here.Unless you would rather go with those men?"

"Oh," Ginny said, abashed. "When do we go?"

Draco sighed, exasperated. "Well, I was meant to be leaving with Banard in a weeks time- but obviously the situation has changed. Banard is leaving for LipariIsland." Draco caught her confused look. "LipariIsland is the last known place that Solen had been spotted. He is rumored to be a wizard that lives in between time, I thought he might be able to take me home."

Ginny nodded. "How long ago was he spotted?"

Draco sighed heavily. "Ninety years ago."

"What! He’d be dead by now!"

"Not necessarily, he lives in between time remember?"

Ginny nodded. "It’s the only lead we have." She furrowed her brows. "When should we leave? The Moon Festival is two days away. The King told me at breakfast."

Draco nodded. "We can’t go tomorrow, I’m meeting with the King and Glynna at lunch tomorrow. The day before the festival sho….what?!"Draco asked, Ginny was staring at him, something akin to horror was plastered on her face.

"No, no, no…." Ginny muttered.

"No what?" Draco asked, raising an eyebrow.

"You…you didn’t use the name Travis Tyrone for some reason or other?"

"I had to use a fake one, why?"

The blood left Ginny’s face. "Oh, its just I was told a ‘courtesan’ was coming to lunch tomorrow who, now this you will find funny. He bears the name Travis Tyrone."

Ginny said this all in a very small voice.

"Oh," Draco stated. "I hadn’t put two and two together."

"Obviously," Ginny said dryly.

Hermione woke up to someone calling her name. That someone was no other then the dear Ron. "I was having a rather pleasant dream if you don’t mind," Hermione muttered, reaching for her wand planning to put a rather cruel curse on him.

"Sorry ‘Mione no time for dreaming," Ron said rather wearily. Hermione looked up to see Ron already fully dressed-with mud splattered all over him.

"Wha? What have you been doing Ron? Rolling in a pig sty?"

"Actually, yes."

"What?"

Ron sighed. "Well, when you were snoring your head off, we were working our buts off. Apparently working for our free stay at Tashin’s Tirade. We met Tashin."

"Lovely bloke," Harry said, emerging into her line of sight, he was also splattered with mud.

"But the lady said…" Hermione trailed off.

"We told him what that lady said. That lady is his mother. Apparently he didn’t like her letting us stay for free."

"Oh," Hermione said, feeling rather guilty. "Sorry I-"

Harry waved her off. "Don’t worry ‘Mione, we’ve done our fare share of work."

Ron snorted.

"And-" Harry continued, not taking any notice of the face Ron was pulling. "I think we may have passage to Bastyne."

This was news to both Ron and Hermione. "Bastyne? That’s the place where…" Hermione trailed off.

"Yeah, Solen. It’s across the sea. Maybe we can find a bit more about this Solen person, and find a way home."

"Um, Harry, you said it was across the sea. Did you get us a boat?" Ron asked skeptically.

"Well, when you were feeding the pigs." Ron grimaced at Harry. "Well, anyway," Harry continued. "I overheard Tashin and some guy. Apparently Tashin needs someone to take a message over to Bastyne and the other guy was meant to do it but backed out at the last minute."

"When’s this ship leaving?" Ron asked.

"Today," Harry said matter-of-factly.
