~Flashback~

"Five points from Slytherin."

"But I..."

"Ten."

"That's not fair, I..."

"Fifteen."

"Please, it's not my fault, I..."

"Very well Miss Arawn, you leave me no choice but to give you a detention. My office 7.00pm." Snape turned on his heels and swept down the corridor.

Coventina slumped against the wall. She decided to miss her next class, Defence Against the Dark Arts, and walked off towards the forest. It was her least favourite class...apart from Potions. She hated the forest, but it gave her the peace she craved. She must have fallen asleep because when she glanced at her watch it was 7.05pm. 'Oh no' she thought. Gathering up her cloak she ran up to the castle, racing down the corridors and stairs to the dungeons. Snape's office was empty and she breathed a sigh of relief.

"Miss Arawn," A smooth voice came from behind her.

"Damn," she thought.

"Are you aware of the time?"

"Yes, it's 7.10 Professor Snape; you really should start wearing a watch."

He glared at her. "I want you to copy chapters one to eight of 'The Most Boring Potion Spells Known To Wizards, A Comprehensive Guide'-neatly."

"But that will take me longer than an hour," she protested.

"Think of it as an extended detention for your lateness," he replied smugly. "Wand," he said holding out his hand. She passed it to him. Then he left the room.

Coventina slumped down in a chair and wrote a few passages from the first chapter. She could hear chattering in the corridor. It was some first years. She recognised the girl as Hermione Granger. She was always talking to the teachers. "Hermione is it?" she said walking over to them. The two other girls walked away.

"Yes," said Hermione thrilled at being recognised by a seventh year.

"I need a favour."

"What?"

"Well Snape hates me and he's given me detention for no reason at all."

"Oh, poor you," said Hermione sympathetically.

"The thing is, I've got a very important test tomorrow with McGonagall, and I really want to revise." Bingo, Coventina could tell she had struck a nerve with Hermione.

"Oh I understand. Revising is important. I'm not sure that I can help though..."

"I'm supposed to copy out eight chapters from this book. I've heard you're an excellent student and I was hoping you would do it for me because it would be such an honour."

Hermione beamed.

"I don't expect you to do it for nothing, so in return, I will give you this magic nail varnish. It changes to give you really cool warnings."

Hermione didn't look very impressed.

"Also," said Coventina as she reached into her bag, "a few books I stole...err found. They're from the restricted section of the library."

"OK, I'll do it, I don't think it's fair that he is ruining your chance to revise, education is important. Are you sure I won't get into trouble?"

"Hermione, I promise, the only person Snape wants to get rid of is me." Coventina handed Hermione the book. "I'm going to my common room to revise; I'll be back before Snape, OK?" Hermione nodded and went into Snape's office.

Coventina ate some chocolate frogs and observed the chattering in the Slytherin common room. She double checked the time. 7.55pm. She decided to get back to Hermione. Hermione was hovering nervously outside Snape's office. "All done?" asked Coventina.

"Yes, I finished ages ago. I'm a fast worker," she said slightly embarrassed.

"Here's the nail varnish and books as promised. I got a lot of revising done, so thanks to you I should get a really good grade in my test."

" I'm really pleased, but you should try not to get any more detentions in your seventh year. It doesn't look very good on your..."

"Ok, well you should get back to your own common room now, thanks for you help."

"Bye," said Hermione running off down the corridor.

"First Years," Coventina smiled to herself, "Are always useful." She went in Snape's office and sat down. About fifteen minutes later he returned. She got up and placed the parchment on his desk. He tapped his wand against it "Reveal!" 'Hermione Granger' appeared in blue writing at the top of the page.

"That's not true," said Coventina, "I did the drawings."

"That is an extra detention for failing to do anything constructive in this one, another for corrupting first years and one for those hideous drawings. And since you cannot be trusted on your own, you can report to Professor McGonagall and have your detention with the first years, under supervision."

"But..."

"Now
." his tone of voice was quiet but deadly.

She stormed out of the office and the door slammed behind her
