Prologue

Okay. I'm very, very new at this. So my guess will be that this story stinks. But anyways. I need to let you all know the background information. This might have some spoilers in it for those of you who have never really read the Harry Potter books. I'm sorry for that. You really should read them. Also, I've kind of destroyed the original stories. I'm trying to keep as much the same as possible though. That's really hard to do. So please don't kill me. You just have to read though. I've been working hard on the story. But I still think the original works by Rowling are the best. I've already pre-ordered my "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" book. I can't wait. Now I'm rambling. Back to prologue.

Prologue... Again...

Background info. (Before Hogwarts type stuff)

The Weasley clan was full of red haired witches and wizards. So was the other side of the family. Mrs. Molly Weasley had brother who had red hair just like hers. He married a lady with dark red hair. They were Mr. Miles Nidet and Mrs. Adrienne Nidet. They had one daughter. Her name was Sydny Isis Nidet. Sydny is of course, in direct relation with the Weasleys through her dad being Mrs. Weasley's brother.

Sydny had deep red hair and dark blue, almost black eyes. She was always of medium height, never really comparing how tall she was, at least out loud. Fairly muscular from when she was five, she gained the right curves as she got older. Her skin was a little pale in the winter, but remained tan for the most part. In truth, she was average. Nothing more, nothing less.

Sydny was very kind, for the most part. She did have her moments. Another thing about her personality was she never judged a person right away. She did have an evil side to her, but she tried to hide that from most people. It would not do to know that the daughter of Aurors was evil. She was always active; liked muggle sports as well as Quidditch. She was smart as well. From an early age she learned things quickly. Sydny never liked to show her smarts off though. She'd rather remain in the shadows, excelling by herself.

Mr. and Mrs. Nidet were Aurors. They did more undercover type work such as research; hence they weren't as well known like Alastor Moody. Unfortunately, Aurors like them were still considered a threat to Voldemort. When he was "defeated" by Harry Potter, the Nidets could breath a little more. A year later, Adrienne Nidet gave birth to their daughter Sydny on July 3.

They moved to a muggle city near London. There were a few Wizarding families that lived by them, but most were muggles. They felt a little safer there, maybe feeling not as well known. They sent Sydny to muggle schools. They felt it was good that she learn about muggle life at an early age. She could understand things a little better. This way too, she also had friends.

On the street she lived on, most of the children her age were boys. She would join in their games, despite how much they would disagree at first. By the time they were all about seven years old, they were all very close. Sydny was given the nickname of Syd by the boys. She liked it; it made her feel welcome by the muggle children.

Of course while she was inside her house, her parents did things the magical way (unless a company of muggles was over). Sydny's parents also helped her to control her magic the best way they could. That was to transfer her magical energy to something productive. To do this they gave her a broom when she was eight. She couldn't really fly it around where they lived, but they would go out to the countryside every other weekend. There she could be free on her broom and her dad would help her learn how to fly. To Sydny, her life was perfect.

But all perfect things must come to an end. When she was almost eleven years old, Sydny's parents were murdered. That was Harry Potter's first year at Hogwarts. That was the year Lord Voldemort could have regained power. Some of his loyal Death Eaters who had escaped being killed or sentenced to Azkaban must have known he was there. They decided to help him gain power, assuming he would triumph. They murdered Sydny's parents while she was at school. When she got home, she found her Aunt Molly, Uncle Arthur, and Albus Dumbledore. There were also other wizards and witches clearing up the crime scene.

Albus told Sydny what had happened, but she wasn't really listening. She was too stunned. He told her she would be living with her Aunt and Uncle and cousins. She would be safe with them. Sydny felt herself being hugged by her Aunt and Uncle and being led to the chimney. She vaguely remembered stepping into the fire and saying "the Burrow" and almost sneezing with the Floo Powder. Tears rolled down her face the whole time.

All of that day was a blur. Her perfect life had vanished in a second. Not that she did not love her relatives, just her parents were gone. She now shared a room with Ginny. Ginny was her age, only several months older. They got along very well. Ron, Fred, George, and Percy were still in school when her parents had died. They would be coming home in a couple of weeks. This gave Sydny a little bit of time to adjust.

She adjusted fairly well, which surprised the Weasley clan, because it was such a tragic thing to happen to her. Fairly well was, she did not complain about the boys walking in on her in the bathroom or all the noise they made. She did not mind sharing a room. She sort of liked the new life she now had. It was very different from her small quiet home. Now she lived with a large family that could be loud. It made her heart smile at the warmth the Weasley clan radiated. That's how it appeared to the Weasley's, but she was really just hiding her true feelings. Why bother people about her problems. She was just glad she had a family.

When Ron, Fred, George, and Percy got back from Hogwarts there was much to tell. Ginny and Sydny listened intently to Ron's experience through the trapdoor. Ginny "ooed" and "awwed" at all the points that involved Harry. Sydny listened. It was a good story, but the part about Voldemort almost gaining his power made her shiver. It was all His fault her parents were dead. The thought of Voldemort made her want to sell her soul to get back at him.

Summer break went by fast it seemed. She spent her time riding her broom with Fred and George. Sydny also spent time talking with Ginny. It was nice to have someone her age, a girl, and a witch to talk to. Most of the time they talked of Harry. Ginny had seen him that first time at Platform 9 and 3/4 and from that point had been hooked. Sydny thought nothing of Harry. He was to her, merely The Boy-Who-Lived.

Then, as summer break was drawing to an end, Ron showed up with none other than Harry Potter.

*This is where I will leave off. It will lead into my next chapter. I'm thinking the next chapter, which will be I guess the first official chapter one, will be a summery of the next four years of Sydny's time at Hogwarts. That might change though. If you are going to R & R, please do so. But don't, Flame I believe is the word, too harshly. I swear I am all new to this. I just ask my friend for terms used and stuff. Thank you.*
