Chapter 3
Evelyn and her cart full of items were traveling the huge London Station. Hagrid left her at the entrance telling her that she had to get to platform 9 ¾. At her confused look he said it was between platforms 9 and 10 and to go straight through the wall. At her unbelieving look he laughed and told her it was ok. Evelyn still thought he might have lost some of his marbles on the ride over. She saw platforms 9 and 10 and headed towards them.
"Here goes nothing," she said casually leaning on the wall. She was surprised when she kept going. hen she opened her eyes, there was a large steaming scarlet train engine in front of her. She grinned. So Hagrid wasn't crazy. She started towards the train. She was a little early so she decided to get a good seat.
"EVIE!?" Someone yelled from behind her. She turned to see a very surprised blonde boy. She smiled.
"Well look what the cat drug in," Evelyn said smiling. "Draco Malfoy," she said smirking. He met her smirk with an equal one. They laughed and embraced.
"What are you doing here?" he asked her happily. "I haven't seen you since... since before I started Hogwarts."
"I finally got the better of daddy dearest. I'm starting at Hogwarts," she told him as he hugged her tighter. "Well let me see you," she said pushing him back. He looked at her befuddled. She smiled and walked around him, looking over every inch of his body. She could tell he had done something since the last time she had seen him. She felt his arms. They were quite built. He wasn't the little boy she used to beat at arm wrestling. "Dang Draco, what have you been doing? All gwoed up aren't we?" she asked swatting his very firm butt. He smirked but turned slightly pink.
"Well look at you, Evie," he said. "You... well... you're hot!" he finally let out. Evelyn looked down embarrassedly then grinned up at him. "So starting at Hogwarts? I'll have to show you the ropes," he said picking up her things and loading them into a compartment.
"Thank you," she said as they both sat down.
"Evie I just can't believe you're here," he said sitting back in amazement. "Your father had you locked up tight. I sent you a billion and one owls and never got a post," he told her.
"I know, father, tore them up right in front of me," she said. "I missed you so much," she told him. After a long silence, Evelyn started, "So what do I need to know about Hogwarts?" He smirked over at her.
"There is only one rule that I need to tell you," he told her. "You are never within a ten foot radius of Harry Potter. Got me?" he said. She grinned.
"What's wrong with Harry Potter? From what I hear, he's a very nice boy," she asked him questioningly. His face turned sour.
"Saint Potter! Never let's anyone keep the spotlight but himself," Draco said. "Every year he has to do something to get him in the flipping spotlight." Evelyn grinned.
"Yes, darling, of course," she said leaning back. "I'm beat," she told him snuggling into his arm. "Wake me up when we're close?"
"Sure," he said as she fluttered off to sleep. He looked down at her sleeping form on his arm. He kept on thinking he was going to wake up any moment but he never did. She was really there, his best and first friend. Sure he had friends but they weren't really his friends. They were his friends because he had money and he was a Malfoy. She had been his friend because he was Draco not Malfoy. He remembered when he had met her. It was one of their fathers' parties. They were both five. She was quite the little devil and always got him in trouble but that was the fun in it. They had thrown water balloons on all the guests and she made sure they got away with it. After they were out of balloons, they rushed to her room and pretended to be asleep. Her mother, Juliana, had come in and tucked them into her bed. He thought he would never see her again after her mother died. Her father didn't want her to go anywhere or leave him. He went crazy and punished Evelyn for Juliana's death, wouldn't let her do anything but stay in his house. He and she had changed a lot since they last seen each other. He still couldn't believe she was here. Then Crabbe and Goyle blundered in, interrupting his thoughts.
"Who's she?" Crabbe said hungrily looking down at Evelyn's sleeping form. "She's pretty," he went on. Draco instantly pulled Evelyn closer to him.
"Evelyn O'Brien," he said coolly. "No one touches her except me, got it?" Draco said dangerously. The both nodded dumbly.
